  • This stunning tiny home has used natural building techniques to give it an earthen cottage look, making it a unique hybrid between tiny house on wheels and a small natural home.

What looks like a relatively conventional tiny house on the exterior completely transforms on the interior, where use of natural lime plaster has given the home an earthen appearance, something very rare in tiny homes, and as you'll discover in this video, possibly for very good reason.

It seems like hes tried to imitate rennisance era European interior design with the plaster walls and revealing wood frames. It looks too contemporary however, but good attempt.

    • @jackstrubbe7608

There is a difference between imitate and emulate. One thing I do in similar applications, which I learned when I used to build Japanese tea gardens, was to include pine needles into the clay/plaster in much the same way that Cobb construction uses straw. Wonderfully strong and beautiful binder.

The quality of this house is something that we have not seen in a "normal" house construction at anywhere near normal price points for over 100 years in California.
Remember that the plaster can be refinished/refreshed after each move.
This is an AMAZING accomplishment at any age and the price point he was able to do this and the huge numbers of helpers is inspiring beyond belief. To have this many friends and family to help show how blessed Everett is and his humility and appreciation is beyond refreshing too.

Sounds like a great deal for a college student. That said it would have to be in a location that doesn’t get really freezing temperatures in the winter or extremely hot in the spring and summer. How does he get electricity at a parking space. Obviously he has to move his truck from time to time so does he have something that designates his parking space? Generally on college and university campuses and even businesses parking spaces are first come first served unless you are the president, CEO, or top people for whatever institution it is and they get reserved parking. Sure while your on campus grounds you have access to free WiFi, water and electricity in their buildings and showers in the various locker rooms in physical fitness or sports centers. Generally you pay to have a parking permit that allows you to park almost anywhere, but doesn’t guarantee you get the same space or even a space depending on the size of the college or university. I have a hard time believing that a college or university would condone a student living in a truck with a camper on it anywhere on campus because if they did there would be other students trying to do the same thing and it could lead to a lot of problems legally and ethically as well as the safety of the student or students who attempt to do the same thing.

My great grandfather had with his father built a waterpowered sawmill where I learned crafting skills and respect for wood. I SO love this beautiful build, and this beautiful builder! This has to be one of the best builds I’ve seen for a tiny house. Very open and spacious thanks to the height of it. Use of the reclaimed materials adds so much character to it and reduces costs. The lime plaster, repurposed wood other recycled materials makes for a beautiful house. An excellent outcome!

I Just think that Bruce Is a wonderfully educated young man...he interviews the house owners with so much delicacy...never saying anything unpleasant to offend their choices...Always praising truthfully the good in all he's shown...such a rare humility and serenity in his manners....he is truly an aristocrat....

What a unique tiny home. I absolutely loved everything this young man incorporated into his build. Just goes to show you that if you have the will, the drive and the dream you can make it happen. And, to know what his goals were at such a young age was probably the key. Thanks for bringing us this build Bryce. 😎

What a clever young man! Brave, full of ideas and very conscious of his life, his future, his goals... And look at his eyes - how bright and vivid they are! BTW the house is very nice, too!

I loved this house. With the additional height, it feels so much more roomy. I also love the many big windows! It gives that illusion of being wider. That's what I have planned if ever I get around to building a tiny house. Great video Bryce!

Such a stunning house! I absolutely love the plaster finish everywhere and the windows!! So many nice touches and features. Wow! Love that you included more information in this one about the specific materials and techniques used - I'm intrigued by the "tadelact" plaster in the bathroom. So many thrifty ideas too especially with skill sharing - having someone stay whilst they teach you a skill and you give them food and board is quite a great way to learn.

LOVE the plaster. One of my favorite builds. The living room seating is a very cosy and inviting nook. "Put the money into what you don't see." - very good advice.

what an amazing, unique built! i love how he mixed beautiful, reclaimed stuff but splurged on 'the stuff you don´t see' that increases your comfort. also, kudos for the tadelakt! i really hope we´ll see an update on this guy a few years down the road with him living in his strawbale home.

I have been researching tiny houses for several years. This house, by far, is the most gorgeous one I’ve seen yet. Not only is it beautiful it has the best layout of any one I’ve looked at. Absolutely love all the windows and natural light. Actually there is nothing I don’t love about this house. Thank you so much for the video!

This was an amazing video! I wanted to do plaster in my house, but was concerned about cracking during travel. I love the look, but it is so good to know that it doesn't stand up to travel well. I give this guy credit for trying it, though. This home is one of my faves now!

Ankit Kumar, many people borrow from family to get a down payment on their first home. I suppose the same can be done for a tiny house. If you had been able to pay rent before hand, then quickly repaying the loan(s) shouldn't be too difficult with the reduced cost of living in your tiny house on a rented space.

He is learning a trade - construction trades often pay pretty well, and it sounds like he may not have had very big living expenses where he was living previous to living in his tiny house.
