amazing... 5hrs/weekday and 8hrs/weekend, no wonder this guy succeeded. When I asked the high achievers how they did it, they would always say the same thing - practice everyday. There's really no shortcut. Thanks for the informative video ☺️

thanks really needed this! I got exams coming up in a week and I'm in year 10, wish me luck I will try my best and come back later on with what subject I did the best in and what subjects I flopped in :D
to the peeps who are stressing: don't worry too much about your atar, all you need to do is try your best. In many cases even if you don't get a high enough atar you still sometimes can be accepted into the course you want to do, or you can transfer to the course you didn't get into down the track. PLEASE just know that your atar does not define you. Also no one talks about atars after high school. Good luck! from a 2020 graduate
well mybe but what about med?
@@baharfardipour4995 that's why I said "in many cases" not all cases.
@@baharfardipour4995 You can transfer. For universities such as Bond and JCU you can apply for non-standard entry in your first/second year if you didn't get accepted through undergraduate straight after high school. If you don't get in through that then there's postgraduate as well, another option.
i need a 97 atar for my uni course though

@@ShaneHuang88 yeah but not to this level bro.
Pro tip, hard work won't get you there. You only got it or you ain't so just do something you like.
There are differences in a students ability to work hard depending on their natural intelligence. Higher IQ (above average) students always talk about hard work paying off and while this is true in every regard the ability to focus and enter a level of flow comes easier when you are naturally gifted allowing for less distractions and more concentration on the task.
As a student in Victoria currently failing in Methods, thanks!
omg finally someone that studies commerce, I was wondering about spaced repetition and how to have an effective schedule when you have 5 courses with active group projects and assignments but still has midterms 6 weeks from the start of school. Like I want to keep up with material weekly but sometimes it gets really hard to do. DO you have any preferred study schedule or spaced rep interval that would be effective for a heavy workload? Thanks
Not really, I just make sure I dont fall behind, I've made a video on uni study which should be coming late next month :)

Glad it helped!! I just focus on trying my best for the future cos you can't change the past
Scaling was where I messed up in, my teachers never told me the specifics of how each subject is scaled differently. So I picked my subjects, did well in them, expected a decent/good ATAR and got way below what I expected. Hit me pretty hard tbh. Still got offers to uni so there’s that.
What subjects did you do? I feel like scaling is talked about way too much in the HSC even though it doesn’t really matter. You can still achieve a 99+ ATAR in almost any subject
Logan Smee I don’t think it’s practically possible to get a 99+ if you choose certain subjects
Damn that's unfortunate but good for you on the uni offers. Out of curiosity, what subjects did you end up choosing?
Scaling really isn't something to consider unless you're performing so well that even one mark more would make a difference (ie people aiming for ~99.5+). Scaling is there to balance out all the subjects and make them the 'same' difficulty. If you do an easy subject vs a hard subject it turns out the same because rhe easy subject scales low (but you do well) and the harder subject scales well (but you do badly).
@@zs9301 Its not really how "easy" or "hard" the subject is its more the competition in that subject and the average score that most people in that year achieved
Ugh not me choosing physics, biology and maths even though I’m trash at science... I love it though 😢
that's what matters most. You're on the right track!!!
Bro it doesn’t matter if u trash at science you will do better on a subject you like but are trash at than a subject your good at but u hate
same hahaha love physics but do bad in it

Edit: I haven’t gotten Chem and Bio back yet, but otherwise I got all B’s and one A (in Maths). I graduate 2021, do you think it’s possible for me to achieve a 95 ATAR?
Wise up guys! This isn't about everybody getting a 99+ ATAR. It's about how SMART people can get a better ATAR. It follows that lesser motivated don't do as well - it goes with the territory and, they prolly won't be watching this how-to anyway.

EDIT : I'm only doing literature in yr12, but I still know how the English atar course is structured having done it the previous year
@@b.l7491 I took english atar, thanks so much!
@@geraldiner2527 oh awsome! So basically what I did for English Atar is buy the good answers booklet, and literally model your essay paragraphs EXACTLY the same structure. Like, obviously don't copy the essay, but the structure is very important to copy. What I found helpful is going thru the good answer guide essays and highlighting;
1. everytime they link back to the main thesis (should be at the end, last sentence in that paragraph)
2. Everytime they use a quote (usually 2 per paragraph)
3. Everytime they link back to the topic sentence of that paragraph
Each paragraph should be a new genre convention (depending on the question you answer) but should always be relevant to the overall question you're trying to answer in your essay
For example, if I was analysing a book, and say the question was :
"How does text one represent ideas about indigenous australians"
I would then structure my thesis statement first ( look up thesis builder it's helpful), for example -> "Text one uses characterisation, setting and context to subvert traditional ideas about indigenous australians."
Then my three paragraphs would be on :
1.characters,
2. context and then
3.setting.
@@b.l7491 Ok thank you so much! I'll definitely have to pick up that book :)

Does English score have to be counted towards ATAR as one of the 4 top subjects or do u only have to at least pass it to get into uni?
in WA (i think) i heard that as long as you pass english then u can enter uni, like say u did 5 atar subjects and your english grade is the worst out of the 5 (although you passed) you can still enter uni (thats if the other 4 subjects all total up to your minimum atar score needed for your major). idk if it makes sense but i hope it helps
ATAR 99.5 ===> Medicine===> Set your mind to making money and forget everything else. Spent 7 hours per day, going through 30 to 50 clients per day and thinking about how much money I would make per day! The Medical Centre will make sure that "you do not spend more than 5mins per client(sorry patient)". Or be any kind of specialist. Anyway, my grandson is also aiming for medicine and high ATAR, he is in Year 9 and already planning his alternatives and best options. Sorry guys, I am going fishing. Too much thinking for ONE day. Do you recommend dropping them both and possibly doing the course later than expected or should I keep them and do my best? Thanks, hope u respond
Im probably not the person you were hoping for but I'm in a similar boat. My degree BSc(Medsci) required me to do a math, bio and chem course but I only do math and bio. This is because chem is not a prerequisite rather assumed knowledge. I think you should double check on your degree (varies with uni) which subjects is assumed knowledge and which is prerequisite. If you really don't like chem/math, my university of choice (usyd) allows you to take bridging courses which spams 1 yr worth of chem into a 1 term workshop so you don't fall behind (varies in uni as well).
Tldr: check which is assumed knowledge and which is prerequisite
@@yeetusmcfeetus1031 Yeah I probably will take a bridging course but I don't like advanced maths and I'm not good at it and I know adv. maths is a prerequisite for BSc at usyd but chem isn't so it's really the problem with maths

Its fine if you dont fall behind, not too bad
seriously, people like me who mess around in yr12 got 94.7 so i think putting enough effort will get u at least an ATAR of 96.
Which states did u took the exam?
@@blakebarnes2304 u know what i messed around for the whole year till a month before external which i tried my hardest studying up to 15hrs/day and got 99.05 atar
Yeah honestly its not as much of a climb as people make it out to be. In my case, I had good internals and high scaling subjects. Even though I came out the exams feeling I did bad for all of em except math, I still got band 5 in everything and got e4 in math for an atar of 92.3
NICE
Stuff it, Honours Law at ANU ain't worth it. I can't manage to finish my English homework, that 97 atar minimum is gonna kill me. But as someone going into yr 10, this was super helpful, i already knew about the scaling of subjects but i now realise this is gonna be a hell of a hike to get to uni. GL fellow commenters.
I feel like I was forced and peer pressured into rushing my decision which led to dropping atar; I regret this so much and don't know what to do. I was ready to make my comeback, my personality struggled in semester 1 due to also of reasons that got nothing to do with school and I was ready to set it aside or work with it. I used to have trouble sitting down and doing my studies but I'm ready now. How can I sit in general and put in the most effort knowing that all of this could be towards my atar and could get a nice atar. Should I get my dad to call them and chat with them to let me back into atar? maybe I should do 4 stars instead of 5. I swear I feel ready to take that challenge on but idk because currently I have 0 c's and need 6 this semester meaning I need all 6 to go to yr 12. If I fuck up on atar then I'm DONe and I have to repeat the yr and I really don't want that. But taking risks pays off sometimes and what if this is the time I should take that risk, it might all pay off in the end. Or should I just do general even tho with all of the effort could possible go towards atar and just do a preparation 6 month course and a year long course to get into my desired course in medicine, but that'll take 1.5 yrs longer to get to where I wanna get, which is another 1.5 altogether 3 yrs to get to where I wanna get smhh atar is so much faster and all I wanna do is start my bachelor of surgery course. Idk give your opinion guys, please I need it.
Hey, how were you able to study so hard? You said you were studying like 5 hours on a Weekday and like 8 hours on a Weekend, personally I can't see myself doing anything like that. What kept you motivated, and how long did it take for you to actually get used to the study habit?

Hey, Im going into year 12 and was wondering when should I start studying for exams, like a month or 2 would be enough??
You should study for a week then take a break then when exam going to start study for a month have break every 2 days and don’t push yourself hard
And try to get ready
Definitely do all the past exams I did around 3 for each subject and got 71.45 atar sooooo yeahhh
@@ringo805 "all the past exams" LOL last year's QLD graduates had no past exams
It took a while for me to understand that dineth is Sri Lankan, not Indian.:)
Hi, I’m a Year 7 student, though I’m ok in all subjects, I want to pursue in the Medicine field. Pls can u tell me some tips how to love my subjects.
you still have many years to find what you love. you may even decide that medicine isnt for you (I was adamant i was going into medicine from when i was in year 3 until year ten!). but, i highly recommend trying different subjects each year until year ten (i wish i did this) and definitely take school seriously (another thing i wish i did in year seven). try to always aim high and you'll get there. year seven is all about finding you feet.
@@elladay7913 I’m going into yr 7 this year and I got above average or higher for every subject but I’m just scared that I’ll choose subjects that scale down and if I get something lower than 45 in some subjects that it will scale down really bad so I just feel nervous and stressed even though I haven’t turned 12 yet lmao
And my mum hit me with “listen, with where you are at now, if you continue like this, I reckon you’ll get a 93” and I was like 🥲
@@bertrandmarcou the subjects you choose won’t weigh you down until you’re in year 11, which is a while away, but your teachers will help you out and find what is best for you :)
Can you talk abt UCAT pls!
