Filmed in '71, released in '72. Brilliant performance. Love David's little smile to Rick after they muffed the lyric "inviting and inciting" to "inviting and inviting."
I've always felt as though the interlude was a musical representation of prehistory. It always makes me envision an aquatic cul-de-sac bordered by 500ft cliffs, ancient extinct seabirds screeching and communicating with each other as evolution continues bringing life from the sea to land. Primordial pools bubbling on land. Then the build up gradually, and with increasing speed brings the listener back to the present. As an aside, I'm really looking forward to David's new album coming in September.
Fantastic video! For the middle interlude, I think it's Roger using a slide in a circular motion with echo and delay to create that aspooky ambiance, with David using bends and tremolo bar to create the birds screeching, and Rick filling everything else out.
Phew... It's good to come across a reaction to this piece where Rick Wright's keys in part one and two get a mention. Booker T in pink ? Great reaction. 👍
In all the reactors I watch, Nobody see Nick drop a stick at 20:59 and reach for another without missing a single beat ! !! Not a lot of analysis there....

Un grande brano epico per noi e per i fantasmi di Pompei.

Nice to have a genuine reaction by someone who understands pink Floyd 😊
They actually filmed "Echoes" and most of their live in Pompeii video in October of 1971.
And it was filmed over a 4 day period ! A Gilmour and Wright playing off of each other !
And wrote the piece before that even.
This gets missed a lot, but the whole thing is filmed and edited so beautifully

During this I’m thinking Whale songs
When did David get rid of his speech impediment?
Midle section - what dio I here? A lot of bird noises over an industrial background
