God, 90s movies were so fucking awesome. The cinematography, the acting, the casting, the dialogue, the music... it all just came together so perfectly time and time again.
90's Movies were the best in the world, I remember going to the Movies with my Cousin and we would watch one of the Movies that coming out. Man I do miss the 90's.
No Country For old Men from 2007 is one example of a modern movie that is not childish. But yes that is 17 years ago. Dunkirk is ok too and that one is from 2017.

I was a teenager in the 1990s. The majority of all movies had a great script and a good ending. It was rare to walk out of a movie and feel it was a waste of time. We had no idea that movies would mostly go down hill from there.
Nostalgia goggles. The 90s had SO many garbage movies. But what they did have less of was pure formula ("save the cat" wasn't even published at the time), sequels, and extended universe bullshit.

This is literally the PERFECT suspense thriller! The climax is brilliantly executed, with the killer targeting the very Federal Agent who was tasked with bringing Richard Kimball to justice. That same agent declares Richard’s innocence, along with the true perpetrator’s guilt. Richard saves the Agent’s life, vindicating himself once again to both the Agent and the audience, after repeatedly demonstrating his hippocratic oath of benevolence. The Agent then protects Richard before a public not yet appraised of the truth of Richard’s innocence.
The last lines of dialogue are so well written. "I thought you didn't care - I don't... but don't tell anybody, ok?". Of course he cares. Perfect example of antiphrasis.
Nice touch, using real Chicago television reporters Lester Holt, Pam Zekman, and the great John Drummond (still alive at 93!). One of the many details that has this film capturing the real Chicago vibe.
Can you tell us about cops? Because, Chicago native Roger Ebert, in his review gave affirmative appraisal of cops, which for once looked and sounded right.

When I saw this in the theater, every body hollered laughed and cheered when Kimble bashed up nichols with that pipe great stuff. Gerard spinning around with his piece was delightful too
He is not innocent. He was convicted in a Court of Law. Plus he committed numerous new felonies during the course of the movie. Guy is a one man crime wave.

He probably told him that while they do have evidence, he still needs to go back, but they help him start the appeal/new trial process and expedite it and Kimble hardly spends any time in prison and if he did, I'm sure the prisoners were aware of his innocence and likely either left him alone, or he was like their medical guy. But who knows 🤷♂️

True, but he's a fairly high ranked Marshal with some pull given how friendly he acts with his political bosses. A inter-agency request to a US District Attorney to lean in Illinois prosecutors to reopen the case wouldn't be that hard and would get things moving quickly.
Shouldn't it have been painfully obvious to Kimble and his lawyer to suspect that Nichols might be involved? He was the one person who had Kimble's keys the night of the murder. There was no forced entry. Narrow down the possibilities.
I understand Kimble not suspecting Nichols because that was his friend and until the end acted like a friend and likely defended Kimble's character in court. The Chicago PD really blew it by not investigating and quickly rushing to judgment. So I have watched this movie multiple times, absolutely love it, but this scene I have always been confused about - does Kimble kill Nichol when hitting him with that pipe - or did he simply knock him out? I was never sure which it was. Btw, how long was the timespan of this film supposed to be? I always under the impression it takes place over the course of a year, starting from when Kimble escaped the bus.
The way Kimble nearly collapses in relief that someone *finally* believes him…
And the fact that Kimble saved Gerard’s life despite the fact that he persued Kimble just shows that Kimble is innocent

So I have watched this movie multiple times, absolutely love it, but this scene I have always been confused about - does Kimble kill Nichol when hitting him with that pipe - or did he simply knock him out? I was never sure which it was.
Btw, how long was the timespan of this film supposed to be? I always under the impression it takes place over the course of a year, starting from when Kimble escaped the bus.

@@thecowboy9698 well he was knocked out, Richard never intended to kill Nichols, he just stopped him from killing Jones

I’m also unsure about the timeline. But references were made to “last summer,” so I’m guessing a year at most.
