    A Quiet Place released back in 2018, but it took me a long while to get around to actually seeing it for myself, and once I did I was beating myself up over waiting so long. This movie is so utterly beautiful and heartfelt, and with the third entry on the horizon now was the perfect time for me to share my thoughts.

    When he signs to his daughter "I love you, I have always loved you" and then sacrifices himself, I blubber like a child, man. I love this flick. And it's sequel is even better!

      It was one of the most hilarious moments, only topped by the scene where the dumb kid gets into monster chow at the beginning. Truly an incompetent group that is suprising they lasted as long.

    i saw this in the theater with my sister and my oldest son. SUCH AN INTENSE EXPERIENCE! you are used to a lot of noise in the theater and the lack of really grips you. it was a few days after my father passed and it brought such a great release of stress and emotions during a rough time. it will always have a huge place in my heart for that

    This was one of my most memorable movie theater experiences. You can hardly eat a chip without everyone hearing the crunch. The tension was absolutely palpable and everyone reacted together in those tense and touching moments. A lot of audible sobbing and sniffing, and silhouettes visibly wiping tears at the truck part in the end. Brilliant that was ✨️ That nail, my gosh hahaha

    There are so many layers to this movie. It touches on a truly terrifying thing, trying to do anything besides giving birth, while giving birth. Including staying silent. There was so much that was scary but that hit me the hardest. Blunt did a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful job in this!!

    Isn’t it crazy that having a deaf actor play a deaf character required advocacy? Why wouldn’t that be a given?

    Hi, neighbor! 👋🏼
    When I watched The Last of Us, I was super elated they used a deaf person instead of faking it. I'm not deaf or anything but I do know some sign language. It was just nice to see it used by people who actually use it. Good luck trying to AI, that Hollywood.

    Yea that nail scene made me feel sick like lightheaded & nauseous I ain't like it!!! That was worse than the baby delivery scene. This movie was so well done its perfect emotional heartbreaking well directed. The quiet family piece is so beautiful. Marco Beltrami is really good as a movie composer. Lees sacrifice breaks me every time

    I loved the theater experience when I saw this film. You and everyone else were locked in and could feel it. You didnt even want to eat your popcorn because it seemed loud.
    BUT... I still stand that deaf people would be the first to die. I can't walk through my house without waking up my dog, and I'm aware of the noise I make. A deaf person wouldn't know how loud they were, let alone to sneak around ultra hearing murderous aliens.

    My main dislike of this movie is just how ridiculous it is that civilization fell when the monster's main weakness is sound and water. There is no realistic way the monsters would not have gotten wiped out within a year by the world's militiaries.
    Like I can suspend my belief for the baby not crying because that'll be extremely hard to write around. But why did they need to add the weakness of water to the monsters specifically. That just makes it way too easy to counter them.

    Your channel needs to be bigger. Absolutely love your analysis of horror films. If you ask me, you belong right up there with Dead Meat and FoundFlix.
    Regarding this film and the analysis, love it. For this film, I knew I was in for something good when Beau gets taken out-- and so unceremoniously. That's a weird sentence to write, but when a child is not safe? No one is.

    Love the movie. One of the most effective horror films ever made. The theater experience I remember vividly. Everyone was so quiet watching it in the theater I was in. You could hear a pin drop in the theater during the tension filled moments. The suspense was so well done and the characters were all fantastic.

    It was a packed house with everyone afraid to eat their popcorn because it was so quiet in the theater. People were even quiet during the jump scares lol.

    I don't know. This movie always required me to stretch my suspension of disbelief way too thin on order to enjoy it. If you can "turn your brain off" and enjoy it for surface level reasons, sure, but I feel like no one can honestly praise the film for it's detail, cleverness, worldbuilding, or environment, or anything like that when there's just so many stupid things that make no sense.

      @@RocklinGraves Aliens that are so weak to SOUND should've never been able to take over the Earth in the first place. How did they evolve to be so weak anyway? When there's so many sounds in nature, and it's assumed they can hear and travel miles in seconds, what do they think about all the sounds out of their control? The waterfall scene is so stupid. The waterfall has dramatically different frequencies and timbre to their voices so the aliens should still be able to hear them. Using the movie's braindead logic, why doesn't the family or other survivors all move to areas with lots of running water, or at the very least, visit them way more often? What happens when it rains or thunders? Come on, man. Do you seriously never think about any of these things? I haven't seen this movie in years so I'm sure there's way more things I could pick apart if my memory was fresh.

    • @RocklinGraves
      @RocklinGraves  4 місяці тому +2

      It’s not that I “don’t think about these things”, it’s that I don’t agree that the issues you’re bringing up hurt the logic of the movie. The aliens aren’t insanely weak to sound, they have extremely sensitive hearing. There’s a difference between those two things. It was the ridiculously high pitched frequency loop that hurt them, not the other sounds in the world that draw them in. They were attracted to gun shots and fireworks, so it’s not like loud noises just take them out, it was the feedback loop specifically. It also doesn’t remotely matter what the frequencies of the waterfall are, it’s wayyyyyy louder than they are and that’s what makes the difference. When it rains or thunders, it would make it much easier for them to navigate in certain situations because the sound of the rain and the crashes of the thunder would give them more opportunities to make moves that would otherwise be too loud to risk. As for why they don’t live near louder sound sources, it could be because living next to a loud sound source when the threat in the world is drawn to loud sound sources might be a tad risky…. we also don’t know how often they visit those areas. We see like two days with this one family. You don’t have to be a dick about your issues with the movie. There’s a difference between people “not noticing” things you did and not agreeing with you about those things.

    • @youcantbeatk7006
      @youcantbeatk7006 4 місяці тому

      @@RocklinGraves The frequency the waterfall makes absolutely matter. Sounds with different dominant frequencies don't drown each other out. Is the thing you're mentioning about rain actually shown or mentioned in the movie, or is it just a theory? I could be forgetting something. There'd have to be so many places like waterfalls within their hearing range, if the monsters were constantly patrolling places of loud noises, they wouldn't be so quick to kill whoever makes noise. It would be more likely that they just wouldn't want to be around places with loud noises that they can't control because it would annoy them anyway. These are object qualities of the movie, and anyone's reaction to these qualities speaks about their personal character.

    • @RocklinGraves
      @RocklinGraves  4 місяці тому +3

      I don’t know if you’ve ever been around a waterfall, but it absolutely does block out the sounds of people yelling. The rain thing isn’t shown in the movie but that’s within the logic of the world being built. Sound louder than you = more wiggle room. That’s how it works. I think what speaks more to someone’s personal character is how maturely they can handle disagreeing without falling back on trying to discredit someone because of the disagreement over a piece of art. These aren’t “object qualities”, these are things you don’t agree with. There’s a difference between those two things.
