    Thank you for posting this, Alen! 🙏🐦❤️🐣What a rollercoaster ride, I was still hoping Bubbles would make it, despite knowing he didn't survive. You tried so hard to help him, nobody could possibly have done more or better. But you saved the others.😀❤️🐦🐣 All the love and work and long hours you put into raising those little angels! My family and I often talk about your videos, and we are grateful there are still kind, caring people like you out there! 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you for everything you are doing for those lovely creatures. God bless you and your wonderful family.

    What an amazing and very useful video alen. I have been watching you for a long time now, and I got to say your content is really useful. Especially when it comes to taking care of baby budgies. My budgie pair had babies hatch for the first time 9 days ago! And I am doing everything I can to look after them. And I find this video really informative. Keep doing what you are doing Alen. ❤

    @1:00 Tip for making lasercut boxes: You don't need anywhere near that many finger joints. Maybe 1/4 that number is more than sufficient and makes gluing them together much less of a hassle.

    You should introduce water with dextrose powder for those baby budgies to negate dehydration.

    i think buble didnt make it beacuse of the formula , he couldnt digest it properly , and the feamle feed the baby digested food not a raw formula , i have experinced this before , its hard to find sutible formula for 1 day hatched baby, thats why it isnt recommonded to hand feed 1 day babes .

      I have successfully hand raised three budgies from hatching. I had one die at four days old, but unlike Bubbles, my Pinky was eating well and growing fast when he suddenly died. I don't know why he died. I don't know why Bubbles failed to grow and why he died, but I doubt it was from the formula or anything Alen did. Bubbles wasn't "right" in some way (perhaps neither was Pinky). I've watched Alen's videos handfeeding Bubbles and Bubbles ate very well and pooped normally, but wouldn't grow, which is very strange. Perhaps he had a problem absorbing enough nutrients to grow but absorbed enough to stay alive. I would have brought Bubbles to an avian vet but I dont think Alen has access to one.
      The handfeeding formulas I use are Kaytee Exact, which I use mixed 30-70 with Higgins InTune. I prefer the InTune, a rice based formula, to Kaytee, a corn based formula. Both contain avian probiotics. I don't know anything about the formula Alen used, but commercially available formulas in the US are fine for newly hatched budgies.

    • @donnadavis8917
      @donnadavis8917 27 днів тому

      @miscellaneouscell How would a hatchling look consitpated? I'm not saying Bubbles didn't have a serious digestive problem but having hand raised hatchlings, other than eating but not growing, he looked normal (for a two day old) to me. I'm no expert for sure. Alen said he pooped, but perhaps he was consitpated. Definitely not right. Very sad for Alen and Bubbles for sure.

    Females budgies are fighting over nests and injuries have occurred. What is the solution?

    • @donnadavis8917
      @donnadavis8917 Місяць тому +4

      With colony breeding, where you have more than one breeding pair in a cage or aviary, there is always a risk of the females fighting over nestboxes. Eggs can get destroyed and chicks can be injured or killed. The only way I know of to prevent the problems is to not do it. Meaning don't have more than one breeding pair per cage or aviary. I had a very large cage with one breeding pair plus

      - if you have 5 females add 10 nests
      - don't add new females when you put nests

      Cont'd
      I had one breeding pair plus one older nonbreeding female, one mature young male, and two 3 month old chicks from the previous clutch in a 48 inch x 24 inch x 32 inch cage and I had no problems with fighting or nest invasion but I wouldn't let two breeding pairs share even a very large breeding cage.

    Our 8 week old baby budgie that we have hand raised from hatching, Joey, unfortunately has birth defects.
    Both of her feet are deformed with two toes going forward normally, one back toe flipped forward, nail pointing up, and only the smallest back toe pointing back normally. She looks like shes giving us "the finger" with both feet and has a hard time gripping a perch. The avian vet said theres nothing we can do but she will adapt some. We call Joey our Special Needs baby. She is a very sweet cuddly baby and is still dependent on hand feedings. I would love any advice on how to help a budgie with foot problems like this. I'm padding the perches in her training/weaning cage with vet wrap. What else can I do? I want her to live as normal a life as possible as a member of our flock of 11 tame budgies.

    Alen, how do you plan to get your budgies to stop breeding? I have a situation i think may be out of control, housing boys and girls together, all in prime condition. I let them fly out of their cages all day. I don't want to split up strong ly bonded pairs but I dont want any more babies. I don't have the heart to rehome any of them. Help!

    Can you help me? My budgies have three babies about to leave the nest however one attempted and landed on the cage floor. The baby is fine. However, the two pair are fighting and it almost seems like the male is not allowing the female in the box. I don’t know what to do how do I stop them from fighting How do I know if they’re still feeding them? I don’t have any avian vets in my area.

    Can you buy such nesting boxes from you or unfortunately not, I have some for my budgies, but they are much too small because my couple has 7 fertilized eggs and they hatch from 18.12.2024 and then it gets too crowded, come from Germany
    Best regards

      How old are they? Too old or too young to breed? Are you certain you have a male and female and not two females? Are the vent feathers very long and thick? Some breeders trim them to help fertilization.

      Must be a fertility problem. How and when are you checking the eggs for fertility?

    • @24jk-Sludge
      @24jk-Sludge 28 днів тому

      @@donnadavis8917 I use a phone. Usually later in the incubation. I reckon the male is infertile or he just doesn't mate with her very much.

    • @donnadavis8917
      @donnadavis8917 28 днів тому

      How often are these two mating? I just know that the breeding pair that I just split up a month ago mated very frequently. Even after she began to lay a clutch of eggs he would climb into the box and mate with her while she was incubating eggs. She would lay 10 or 11 fertile eggs over two weeks. I took most of them and gave her dummy eggs because I didn't want her to raise more than three chicks at a time. It would wear the poor girl and her male out.
