    Jan, through the years, the Academy has lauded many films shot in North Carolina such as Forrest Gump, Bull Durham and Crimes of the Heart., North Carolina has a long-distinguished film history, and it only continues to grow each year.

    Io sono italiano...vivo in Sardegna.. Quindi il mare e le spiagge non mancano.. Però Wilmington mi è rimasta nel cuore per la serie tv Dawson's creek...se trovassi una casa sul lago come quella "di Dawson" mi trasferirei subito! ❤

    Anything has to be better then Long Isalnd New York. We pay 3500 a month in rent not including utilities, oil, car, insurance, phone,cable,internet. All in we probably pay 6 grand a month just to live. Strongly considering moving and also want to get as far away from screeching liberals as I can. First thing I will do is get my carry permit and buy a motorcycle.

    The only thing stopping me from moving there is the severe weather and the cost of living in Wilmington. Can you please review how singles (future retirees) can find affordable housing? Thank you from up north.

    • @janroggeman1stClass
      @janroggeman1stClass  3 роки тому

      I think we are seeing severe weather everywhere in the country right now. As someone who came from the north, I just remind myself that we see severe weather here in the late summer, while we saw it up there in the winter.
      As for affordable housing, there is a TON of building going on here constantly. It's true that cost of living isn't as low as in-land portions of NC, but it is the price we pay to live on the coast. You can register on my website to stay connected to new things coming on the market that are in your price-range to see if it makes sense for you. www.theactiverealtor.com Hope this helps!

    I think in terms of 'diversity,' I'd add that you won't see a lot of Asian, Hispanics or Polynesians in Wilmington. Living in 'the west' this is what I grew up understanding what the diversity, 'at least' in the western states meant.

    • @Happybidr
      @Happybidr 3 роки тому

      You get some Asian/Pacific Islanders in the West but you don’t get many blacks out there as you do in the South and East. That was pretty weird when I visited out there awhile back, how everybody looked the same. In the midAtlantic and East you get a bit of everything. If you want real “diversity,” move to the DC area.

      Thanks Alison. Great questions! The music vibe here is pretty good. We've got 2 amphitheaters and a bunch of local places - restaurants, bars etc. for live music. Art was important to us as well, as my wife is an artist. You'll find plenty of galleries and shows to attend!

      If you're looking for nightlife, that's on a big pause right now due to the restrictions being placed because of Covid. There are many local breweries and great restaurants to patron. The Ghost Walk of Wilmington is fun, or you can take a carriage ride through town. Just across the river is there Battleship North Carolina, which is a total blast from the past to go visit. We've got a great aquarium in Fort Fisher, Zoo in Wilmington and many historic homes and museums in downtown Wilmington to visit.

      How dare you direct people to night time downtown Wilmington. All just to make sales as a realtor? Downtown Wilmington is one of the most dangerous places. I LIVE DOWNTOWN. How long have you been here sir? I’m going on 18 yrs and the crime here has gotten extremely bad this year, there’s NOTHING to do in this city. They’ve taken away the summer fair at the beach, they’re taking the flea market, there’s nothing left lol. Unless you plan on going roller skating at scooters. 🤨
      If I were you I’d direct your people anywhere but near downtown Wilmington. Ogden, castle Hayne, Leland, Carolina beach, wrightsville beach, etc. But don’t talk people into moving into the dead of Wilmington. That’s anywhere from Carolina beach road all the way to bladen st. If you disagree, come hangout at nightfall on 9th and 10th streets downtown Wilmington with me ;)
      Guarantee you’ll decline that offer. Don’t call these people to live in bad areas just because you want to make sales. My daughter is a 911 operator, I KNOW everything that goes on, not to mention I live downtown, I hear and see it all. ✌🏼😊

      I have lived here for 51 years and there isn’t much in the way of entertainment. They just opened concert venue in downtown Wilmington but the nightlife in downtown is geared towards a 20 year old crowd. Don’t listen this guy as he is only trying to sell real estate. Additionally, the beach water temperature doesn’t get up 86°, at its highest it’s 83° and that’s only for August and early September

    Plenty of potholes even on main roads, I basically Swerve around it if I can when there’s no traffic around. This place is also pretty much racist for the most part it’s not “diverse” as you think and drugs, crime to top it off and low paying jobs which is why I plan on moving back up north soon.

    • @Happybidr
      @Happybidr 3 роки тому +2

      Lol if you want to avoid racism then don’t move North. They have some of the most racist areas in the country there. Whenever there are large urban areas where the races choose to segregate themselves then you’re going to have problems. You really want to look for places where there are lots of each race who are can afford to live a middle class lifestyle, like in Northern Virginia or the Maryland Counties that surround DC and Baltimore. Of course, you’d better be able to afford to live there. Crime is much worse in the North than the South and there are low paying jobs everywhere. If job pay is an issue, you need to increase your worth to employers. Get a college degree or some additional skills that are highly valued, like electricians or plumbers. Most of the crappy jobs are at the low end of the pay scale, and if you care about “low paying jobs” that’s only someone who probably doesn’t have many qualifications worries about. Doctors and lawyers aren’t going around complaining about low paying jobs in an area.

    Wilmington is way overdeveloped without any infrastructure to support it. It is also full of addicts-as there is a thriving "recovery" industry here-practicing catch and release once the insurance runs out.
    Forget going to the beach anymore-70k people trying to get on a beach with parking for 3k. Prices are skyrocketing for rentals as well as new homes.
    Insurance , both home and auto, prices are insane-every hurricane the rates rise to pay for all the claims from the Mcmansions on the beaches (which you cant get to) and auto accidents due to terrible road planning, and uninsured illegals that flock here to do landscaping and building high density rat traps..
    Speaking of high density-that is a priority for the zoning commission and city council-so, the home you buy in a quiet area with some trees-WILL be clear cut and infilled with apartments.
    35 years ago-it was a paradise....now-it is the equivalent of a more humid Newark NJ.
