    Thank you for giving an HONEST assessment of Wilmington. I lived there for two and a half years and this is the most honest review of what the town is actually like.

      Thanks for the feedback man, I really appreciate it! An honest assessment is exactly what I was going for- I really do love living here but I'm not a fan of the fluff videos that pretend there are zero cons to living in a beach town.

    Former ECU frat grad here. I love Wilmington so much and have so many friends from high school that live in town. I used to spend all summer there. My family has a house in Brunswick county so anytime I visit we make sure to drive to Wilmy for the day and go to Dave’s hot chicken. My sister went to college there as well, I think you very well captured what life is like down there.

      The job market is definitely tough. One of the cons of living somewhere that a lot of people want to move to unfortunately. I've seen a pretty big influx of new job postings lately though so keep an eye out!

    I moved to Wilmington after a long research, I was not disappointed because the shortcomings I already knew about were the same, no walking paths nor crossing lights for walkers, you must own a car or you will never get anywhere, people are chill except on the highway crazy driving and speeding everywhere. the traffic is not bad yet. I can't live here permanently, but it's a nice break before finding my last resort.

      No walking paths or crossing lights for walkers? Hmm. I was under the impression Wilmington was more walkable/bikeable. I’ve never been but was hoping to relocate there.

      @@rainsoundsasmr4187 it's kinda rough for bikers, cars here don't stop for anyone, there is one path on military cutoff but on marker Street which is a major road there is none unfortunately

    • @WilmingtonNCLiving
      @WilmingtonNCLiving  5 місяців тому

      There are quite a few bike paths and greenways throughout town but you do have to cross major roadways in spots. I love biking around town but it's definitely a little bit sketchy at times with traffic. Downtown Wilmington is also very walkable once you get down there. @@rainsoundsasmr4187

      A car is definitely a necessity if you want to have access to all parts of town. The lack of public transport here is one of the downfalls of Wilmington that also contributes to the growing traffic issues. Hopefully they figure out a solution before traffic gets too much worse. Thanks for watching!

    I'm thinking about going to college here once I graduate next year. The only problem is that I strictly ride ebike only so im just hoping that it's not as bad as springfield ohio lol. Overall it looks beautiful and I can definitely see myself living there

    • @WilmingtonNCLiving
      @WilmingtonNCLiving  3 місяці тому

      It's an amazing place to do college! I have a ton of friends that either went to UNCW or Cape Fear Community College and they all loved it. If you go to UNCW and live on campus the ebike will be plenty to get you where you need to go. If you decide on CFCC, living downtown would probably make it work as long as all of your classes were at the DT location. Let me know if you have any other questions about the city!

    I lived in Wilmington for 25 years. I now live in Charlotte as I need to be near family as I am in my 70's and type one diabetic. My mother was from Wilmington so I have visited my entire life. Your video did capture some of the good and bad. Florence while bad as it sat on Wilmington to rain and rain was only a Cat 1. I am not sure how the area will handle a Cat 3/4/5 given the population growth, density and limited road options. I should mention that dying Memorial Bridge. The other significant problem is medical care. The local hospital is not very good. If you have a serious illness go to Durham or Chapel Hill. You mentioned entertainment. The Wilson Center seems to be the residence for elderly musicians way past their prime. It used to be that you could go to the beaches even in the summer. Now the beaches are for those who can afford to pay especially Wrightsville Beach. We all know that part of that cost is to keep certain people out which is why Wilmington city buses do not go there.

    • @WilmingtonNCLiving
      @WilmingtonNCLiving  4 місяці тому +1

      There's definitely some truth in all of that. I think we could handle a major hurricane here if it was moving fast enough but if it sits like Florence did we will definitely be in some trouble. The hospital was recently bought out by a bigger corporation, there's hope that they will invest money and make everything better but only time will tell. It is a nice convenience that Wilmington residents are only a two-hour straight shot from everything the Duke and Chapel Hill hospitals have to offer. They're also currently doing some upkeep work on the Memorial Bridge which is a pain for daily commuters but will hopefully keep it in action long-term. Thanks for watching!

    Is that town super racist? Some cops just went viral after saying they’d kill black people on the spot, talking about civil war etc.

    • @WilmingtonNCLiving

      There are a few bad apples in every city unfortunately. The cops from that 2020 incident were publicly exposed by the police department, fired, and banished from ever working public service positions again.
