    Hi again, as to your request for ideas for videos..... I'm a motor boater, however as i watch more of your , and others, sailing videos, I am entertaining the idea of a trailer sailer.. could you maybe integrate some basic sailing info in your future videos as of this moment, there are too many ropes and sails for me to contemplate lol. yes i know there are many "how to" videos out there, however adding snippets on a channel such as this would make the learning more relevant, if you know what i mean. Frank from Syd

      Hi Frank, I will try and incorporate some sailing tips. I always thought my viewers were sailors and I didn't want to state the obvious, but if that's not the case, then yes I will work in some basic sailing tips, cheers Paul

    That’s the problem with ‘groups’. Being unable to decide on a ‘team’ destination. Maybe you should just do your own thing? I think I’d prefer that. Thanks for the vid.

    Thanks for all your videos, I've enjoyed them and have learned a lot from them. You asked for suggestion, or ideas for videos. Well here's one. How about motor mounts, how they work, different types on the boat around you. closeup shots. Are they adjustable up and down? length of motor shaft ., I always have loads of questions. Ask the other boater questions about theirs, lessons learned, etc, etc. Thanks so much for everything!

    I’m a retired vet, 68 yo, started sailing when age 16, on a 26’ keeled, Contender, on Chickmaugua Lake, in Tennessee. Sailed more and bought a catamaran in Hawaii. Found blue water and ocean currents would need some serious schooling…no time. Sold it. Can’t seem to get rid of the itch, so, I watch UA-cam and the duck regatta…. Thanks for sharing…from east Tennessee.

    In Tea gardens there is a nautical themed house on your right as you drive in. The owner has a houseboat that looks like a floating rustic tin shed. You know provided you have the fuel you can get from Port Stephens to the ferry - the ferry is taken down that route every few years for slipping. Also you can also give a go on cardboard riding down the sand dunes near the beach. If you are really keen you can go behind the break at Hawkes Nest that's where the 6m Great White Congregate during the day (about 30-50m) from the swimmers.
    Question for video: How high are the boats on trailers? Which models can you get in a standard garage to keep them out of the weather.
    Question 2: Boat sleeping videos - tips and tricks.

    Another nice dinghy adventure Paul .. looking forward to our summer (July) Salish 100 up here in Puget Sound.
    I enjoy you new boat n new Skipper interviews as well as campfire briefs. Sail bys describing other boats, rigging n so on. Yours n other skippers menus interesting as well.
    I like seeing your sunsets n rises as well as the weather chips n challenges Down Under .. seeing mates bathing n swimming is so different from our chilly Puget Sound “Polar Bear dips up here.
    The challenge of New n fresh stuff is always going to be there. Giving us the humor of each n pitfalls I enjoy.
    Nurture (bugs, birds, lizards n so so on) sure fatten up .. I’m away listening for the “ bell birds n other “ in the sound track as well as the lapping n swishing of water against n past the haul.
    With loosing my sweetheart n mate of 56 yrs I’m looking forward to new adventures but without her support.. I enjoy your mention occasionally of your wife too. She’s part of the memories supporting our mouncho (sp) getting out n meeting the challenges of sailing n water.
    Seeing the one fellow retrieving that old boat n getting out sure gives me the Will to push on n sail my Monty 17’er.
    Cheers n blessings buddy.

      Heh Chris, have you moved to Tassie permanently? We often talk about spending time in Tassie, Martin wants us to do a Raid on the Tamar ( he lived in Tassie for a while) but the ferry is quite prohibitive as you know. Probably about 3K return, which is out of the reach of a lot of guys. Anyway see you at the next Wooden boat festival, are you going to do the Tawe Nunnagah? Hi Paul, not really related to this video, but was wondering if you could do a video on tacking and gybing on the Kate louise with the dipping lugsail and the jib. Also a bit about how to best trim to suit a Stornaway.
    Love watching yours and the other videos from the Sydney raid group.

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  10 місяців тому +1

      Great suggestion! Neil. My lugsail is not a dipping lugsail so the mainsail stays one side of the mast , whichever tack you are on. This means one tack is less efficient as the luff is against the mast. A dipping lugsail would be very fiddly to tack singlehanded. As far as tacking and gybing , it's the same as a Bermudan rig....the mizzen is self tacking, though when Gybing I tend to manhandle the mizzen boom across, so it puts less stress on the gooseneck. As far as trim, the lugsail would not be quite as flat as a Bermudan Jib and Mainsail. So the speed is there with shape but high pointing is sacrificed. However the newer version of the Stornaway 18 to be made in the states, will have more ballast, a deeper skeg keel with a more modern profile and wings. This will increase it's speed and pointing ability. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

    I was surprised to see what I think may be the Investigator #152 Jolly Roger that Dad owned for many years.
    We did it up, sat it on a new trailer and sold it about 7 years ago.
    Gary’s Investigator had the same rubber gunwale that we fitted and I’m guessing it’s the same boat?

    Just found your channel….really interesting and enjoyable stuff
    Was that a monitor lizard? Was not aware they were in Australia. Are they “neighborly”?
    Have you watched Roger Barnes’ channel? He is a Brit that lives and sails his dinghy in Northern France

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  Місяць тому

      Hi Paul unfortunately I didn't build Kate Louise , she was actually built by the designer Derek Ellard. But Stornaways are actually a kit boat, all the parts are CNC routed and you can put them together yourself, much easier than starting from scratch. The company has now been bought by No Coast Boat works in the states and they will be making kits there and shipping around the world. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul...ps Scruufie boats were made in the U.K. under licence for a few years and occasionally a Stornaway comes up for sale , if you are interested.

    • @SailingKateLouise
      @SailingKateLouise  11 місяців тому +1

      No boom, (lugsail) but it doesn't point as well and therefore not as efficient as a Marconi rig. The newer version of the Stornaway 18 will have a soft batten at the foot of the mainsail to act as a soft boom. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
