I actually like the part where Han was a stormtrooper. Kind of wish they'd make a film or a show following a squad of Stormtroopers. It would put a human face on the enemy, show why people would fight for the Empire, and possibly show disillusionment as time goes on. Yet again, probably won't see that happen. One can dream.
Id love to see a 'Band of Brothers' style Star Wars show that follows a clone unit during the clone wars. Theres so much potential for great stuff in the Star Wars universe, but look at what we get..
One thing I found really interesting is that the swamp troopers actually werent stormtrooper variants, they were actually a variant of the imperial army trooper which is a unit below the storm trooper that was mostly used for planetary defense
he wasnt "killed" the armor is supposed to absorb the energy from the blaster and will sometimes stun the trooper but some blasters and punch through and kill the wearer. but on worlds like Tatooine where tusken raiders use Cylcer rifles that shoot slugs"bullets" will kill the trooper no matter what. but chewies bolt caster is a gauss rifle by definition is a slug being pushed by electro megnetic forces and the slug is encased in plasma.

I like them but they shouldn't be there, in Solo or Rogue One. None of the 'new' trooper designs were in ANH, ESB or ROTJ. I think they should be careful when introducing troops and ships (big gun TIE) that don't appear ever in the future.

Thonicz That is correct in some cases, Tank driver, Rangetrooper, Imperial ground crew for instance. Tank drivers could have been AT-AT drivers. Shoretrooper... really? A type needed to defend shores? Mud or Swamptroopers, as they used to be called, needed to fight only in mud? And Death troopers were supposed to be protecting Tarkin as well but all, like the other types, suddenly disappear for episode 4,5 and 6. And Shadowtroopers seem to be a thing now. There were a few new ones in the expanded universe, Dark trooper, Space trooper and Imperial sentinel and I didn't really like any of them as much as the much feared and beloved Stormtrooper. Never liked all the markings, colours and ranks... doesn't seem necessary and is dangerous for the commanders. It seems each director is given their 'new trooper' allotment for each film. And don't start me on the sequels... Executioner trooper...say no more.
I absolutely love the shot of the train rotating with one group of range troupers moving out of view in the background and a 2nd group coming into focus in the foreground. whoever came up with the range troopers and their magnet boots was brilliant.
Just another thing that I really appreciated about this movie other than expanding and bringing so much content from the EU to Canon all the little hints, nods and Easter eggs we're great in this movie. But I especially like that they expanded upon the Troopers in the Empire even more!!!
The helmets from the swamp Troopers troopers look like a combination all the helmets from the snow troopers and the death Troopers, to me. Also the more Troopers that Disney as in Canon into the Galactic Empire makes the Empire seem that much more powerful.

The Mudtroopers look pretty badass. I like that their face isn't entirely covered up when they're not wearing their masks. Probably my new favorite Stormtrooper variant.
There is one thing good about Disney owning star wars.... Stormtrooper Variants.... Without them we couldn’t have Death Trooper, Shore Trooper, Tank Trooper, Mud Trooper, Patrol Trooper and Range Trooper.... Lucas only had Stormtrooper, SandTrooper, Scout Trooper, Snowtrooper, Author and fans created the rest....

I love how the nimban stormtroopers wear helmet brows like on stahlhelms and the mud trooper using the stahlhelm looking helmet the ATST commanders wear, it really feels like World War One, paying homage to the real stormtroopers
One thing I noticed is that patrol troopers had stronger armor than normal troops. On the main chase scene on correllia, one of the troopers fell and only suffered a few bruises and scratches. Meanwhile, scout troopers in episode 6 would die if the fell at similar speeds.
I just put the helmet of a tank trooper on the torso of a snowtrooper with light gray legs, the snowtrooper's 'skirt' and put two white stud bricks on the bottom of their feet. Not a perfect replica but it'll do until we get a lego release.

I have a question in terms of the Prequel: When noone knew about the Clone Army being produced on Camino, how could the republic equip the army so fast with ships (Venator class, Acclamator class and other cruisers), tanks (AT-TE, AT-OT, etc) and other vehicles and weapons. Like many vehicles were produced on Kuat for example. But did they knew of the Clone Army or were the Ships there and got confiscated? How could the Republic get so many Weapons in this short time to the battle of Geonosis?
So what’s your guy’s opinion on the movie overall? SPOILERS personally thought it was good. Though the droid was annoying and I was happy when they bit the dust.
That doesn’t bother me as much as the stupid looking fur or the grossly oversized magnetic boots. They don’t make the least bit of sense as Clone troopers had magnetic boots that were practically unseen less than a decade earlier.
2:42 They demonstrate once again that they don't know their own props. They changed the end of the fold out stock into some kind of grip so it no longer can function as a fold out stock, yet the rest of the fold out stock is still there adding wasted weight to the weapon. That's such an easy detail to not mess up yet somehow Star Wars has gotten it wrong both here and with the first order blasters.
It is sad that there was no place in the film for introducing to new canon EVO stormtroopers or Hazard heavy stormtroopers in Battle of Mimban. By the way, ty for video as always
Thank you so much fore this video. But I thought Han was supposed to be a pillot, and when I watched the movie he signed up to be a pilot and then ended up becoming a mud trooper. Is it because he got kicked out of some pilot thing and was placed in a mud trooper division?
I would have preferred it if he was a pilot, and if they still wanted the trench scenes they could have had him crash land and be amongst the mud troopers for the rest of the battle,

The reinforced helmet armor of the stormtroopers is exactly like the WW1 German Stirnpanzer which was worn in a similar fashion.
Although I like the new Stormie variants, having a cape along with all that plastoid armour hardly seems practical.
