My wife found you while looking for TV repair shops in our area. You seem to know your stuff and I now through your knowledge will be able to do the work myself for a fraction of the costs. Thanks mate, I will be following you for any future help.

I can't get enough of watching you videos; I fixed a Samsung by replacing some capacitors for less than $20. Now I am attempting to repair a LG "55 that works sometimes but most of the time I am getting vertical lines. From watching your cool videos, I'm thinking I might need a T com board. I would like more info if possible

I just discovered your channel yesterday after a few hours of googling my problem and watching a few dozen repair videos, and the way you explain things makes me pretty confident that I'll be able to fix my issue after watching some more of your stuff and stripping some more knowledge out of it..
My problem is, I have a red indicator light that turns off when I hit the power button, but there's no sound or picture. And when you press power to turn it back off, nothing happens.. You have to unplug it to get the indicator light again..
Every video I've watched so far, as well as what problems I've read about, none of them are quite the same problem as mine.. And the standard "if it's this or this problem it's probably board A, if it's this or this it's board B, etc" can be used in my case since none of that is my problem. I think I'll have to watch all your videos and try everything until I find it, instead of knowing where to aim and what I'm looking for..

I had an old samsung lcd tv which had no standby voltage. It took me 2 years on and of to get it fixed and understand what I was doing, but it is mainly because of your videos! Great channel! Sometimes I whish you could go a little bit slower and more detailed in the videos. Sometimes it are the small things that are hard to understand. For example, on my powersupply, it was hard to understand the table of the connections going from PSU to MB. On a different tv I had, it didn't even had a table. It would be great if you could go a little more in depth to those small details, and make the videos a little bit slower paced.

Our Vizio 50" LED Smart TV lost its picture and sounds a few weeks ago. We were having a hard time finding a place to take for repair other than a best buy, etc which is fine but that would be 65 miles one way just to get it there. We had the very same issue several years ago with another tv and we were able to take into a local repair business and spent $200.00 for the repair plus did without the tv for several weeks. So, it is apparently a common issue and I ran across Tampatec and watched several videos. I went home and took the back off of the tv and sent a picture to my husband asking him to let me know where our tester was...to that I received a reply "damn, ill be right there"! He started fidgeting and messing with fuses and I MADE him knock it off and watch the video step by step and sure enough, it was the main component/logic board. I googled the part number as we didn't want a repair kit and have to solder the small parts but rather replace the entire board. I ordered the part that same afternoon and it was in our mail on Saturday and "we" had the tv working within 15-20 minutes ... all for under $50.00! I am taking credit for this one and rewarded myself appropriately with a glass or 2 of wine! Thank you so much for easy to understand and follow videos...looking for more broken "stuff" to repair! I'm telling everyone I know!!!! ;)

Hey fantastic video! Does it mean that the main logic board should be plugged into the PSU board to have the 12V, 5V or it should appear anyway? My friend gave me his TV's PSU and I thought it was enough like in every device I repair (hobby) it only needs the PSU to supply DC voltage pugged or not! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

Good to find the informative videos. Can’t find the video to take my next step. I have E422VA Vizio tv. Stay is 5.0V. Do not have charting or bulging capacitors. Changed out power board with one from electro parts. No change to TV, still no turn on. Video leads to failed main control board. Received new board from electro parts. Still no turn on. So with new power board and new main board, what do I look at next?

hello, not as fluent in electronics as some, but having a issue with a 55 vizio, led on left bottom of tv comes on for a few seconds then fades out, no picture or sound. I already ordered a power board but not sure if that's the problem, it seemed to have no continuity on one side of the transformer on main board, but this video helped me, and if it' still doesn't work with the power board I ordered i'll make a more educated guess next time

Checking the standby voltage should be 5.2V I'm getting 0V. Unpluging the main board and still 0V standby. Thinking bad powersupply board ordered new and exact same problem no standby voltage.Thoughts?

I have a P series (P702ui-b3) that has no power, it was having a hard time starting for a few weeks where I would have to start it, then shut it down then re start it and it would be fine, then one day it just powered off and now it is dead.
My question is, I can have a tech look at it for $50 to isolate the issue and make sure it isnt the light array, and then should I just order the main board, power board and tcon board and swap them out myself, so should I just do the power board and see if that fixes it and if not then get the main board etc..?
    What do you suggest?

Hi Tampatec. I have a Vizio, model E470I-A0. Originally I lost the picture but had sound. did a flashlight test and could see the menu , etc. After watching many video's I replaced both the power supply board and the main board and it still will not work. In fact i have no sound or video(from another flashlight test). When you power up the tv, the blue power indicator light on the front comes on for a few seconds and then goes out. I have no readings for any standby voltage at the power supply board. I have no readings at all on any pins. I put the old parts back in and it acts the same, no readings at all. I know there is power at the outlet. If you have a moment to read this, any ideas?

I've got a Vizio E50-E3 and the little white light (bottom left) does come on and fade off, as it is supposed to do.
Using the flashlight trick I am getting "no se detecto ninguna red", which translated means "no network was detected".
When I cycle the inputs, using the buttons on the TV itself, I get that same message on every one. I have tried three different HDMI inputs and the component input(s).
Unfortunately, I do not have the actual remote for the TV.
I do seem to be getting voltages from the power board to the main board. I am not sure if I am getting all of the ones I am supposed to get, but the pins that have voltages (numbers/amounts) printed on the (power) circuit board are working properly.

Color on all the menus, Netflix, vudu menus as well, but soon as you play video, connect by hdmi, av, component or stream, its all in black and white. I have a Vizio M470NV that turns on to a yellow vizio light below the display and nothing else. No video or sound. All the boards look clean with no burnt spot and no bulging capacitors. I replaced the power supply, $50, with no change. Per one of your videos, I disconnected the ribbon from the main board to the remote sensor board, with no change. To replace daughter board or any of the little boards aren’t expensive. The main board repair services cost around $100 or to replace it cost more than the tv is worth. How do I troubleshoot the boards, suggestion?

Hey Tampatec - I have a Vizio sv471xvt . We were watching tv when the picture suddenly went black, audio is fine. Plugged and unplugged tv to reset. Standby light is on, logo glows orange and changes to white when powered on. Sound is fine from all inputs. No picture from any input. Tried flashlight test and I can see proper images. (guessed it was the backlight inverter board from your great troubleshooting vids).I tried to get the backlight inverter board from shopjimmy and vizparts but no luck because of the age of the tv. I have a smilar Vizio - a SV420M. I've done the troubleshooting but not sure what fix is needed. Problem started when TV would not take any commands from remotes. Still worked from onboard controls. Now it will not turn on. I get the orange standby light, after pressing power on tv, the light turns white for a bit, then fades to nothing. Power board has 5.2V steady. Pressing the power button returns 2.2V back to the power board. The 12V terminals on power board only show negative millivolts at all times. These are not the exact symptoms mentioned on Shop Jimmy for EPROM fix. What else can I test to be sure? Thank you.

I had no success on that board that was in need of new eprom probably/ (most tensions present bu no start of the alim, only standby voltages) while replacing condensators and mosfets, I did damage a via and did loose a signal connection probably. Cannot trace it and repair ...

I have a LG 47LW6500-UA, my problem is no picture and no sound. I power it on i hear it clicking on and the front buttons scroll across normally indicating power, as well as the red standby light turning to solid white, but can't do anything else, no volume, menu or input changes through the remote or directly on the tv. I've looked with a flashlight to see any images to no avail. I also looked for any blown capacitors but everything looks fine. I'm trying to determine what board it is and could use a little more detailed help. Since every place I've looked for any of replacement parts are out of stock, i'm kind of stuck. I also don't want to try the oven trick unless I've determined that it is in fact my main board and not something else. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi again tampatec,
I watched so many video's but didn't see this one! after running the same test you did in the video, I've seen I have 4.53 volts to the ON/OFF wire when in standby, and 0 volts when I hit the power button. That makes me think it's definitly a problem with my main power board like you said in the video. The only problem is I looked up the serial number on shopjimmy (i found the sticker on the back silly me) and it seems they don't have the part. 55120RE01M3393LNA5-A1 is the serial number, but shopjimmy has neither the board or the eprom repair kit. What can I do? Also just to be sure would you agree given the symptoms (pasted from my previous comment below) that it's probably a problem with the main logic board?? Thanks, I'm really hoping I can repair this TV, i'm a student and money is tight, lol
    TV symptoms
My TV screen is black, though I do have a red light on the bottom, and I have no audio. I've tried your flashlight test and see nothing when I try to bring up the menu screen, and do not see any glow from the LED back lights when I turn off the lights. However, the TV did flash once when I was messing with it. I've also checked the power supply and do have standby power when its off at 5 volts, but 0 volts when I turn the power on. I also checked the keypad/menu button panel on the tv and it's reading 3.32 volts to the main logic board and the volts fluctuate when I hit the power button so I think that's good as well.

Also when the monitor isn't plugged into anything and I power it on, I get a bright white screen. I am having issues with a m65c1 vizio I just acquired from my aunt. I have steady standby power, at 5 volts. 24 volts to the LED from power supply board, I have 19 volts on every pin labeled 12 volt at power supply board. Which I find odd, but I have seen others online with the same results. But, the power on signal voltage from the main board is only at a steady .15 volts... And the main board will not power off with the switch or remote, dim red LED indicator remains illuminated, and the main board gets warm as well. Would you say this is a main board issue? Did the flash light test as well, and nothing. No signs of caps bursting or swollen.

It’s has 4 volts. When I unplug the main board from the power board. The voltage changes to 12 volts like it should. Any suggestions?

Tampatec ive a phillips 47" lcd tv that bootloops when turned on.
there were a couple of swollen caps on power supply which i replaced but still boot looping, all voltages are present exept for the 12v which seems to be measuring 4.5v?? checked 12v regulator and i think it was ok from what i remember?
now should i replace power board or should i be looking towards main board?
or does this problem sound familiar to you?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

I'm having an odd issue with my Vizio M49-C1. Within an hour after turning it on, it will reset itself... turning off and then back on. Usually after that it will be fine for hours without resetting again, though I think it has done it a couple times in a night before. I've also had issues where it wouldn't switch between inputs. The input selector would come up on the screen, but when I selected a different input (Xbox One) it kept going back to the original input (PS4). Once I turned off the PS4 I was finally able to switch to the Xbox. Finally, one night I came home, turned it on using the button on the set, and then neither the remote nor the buttons on the TV itself would respond. I had to unplug it to reset it. Considering the symptoms I'm thinking it may be the main board, but it's really difficult to diagnose when the issues are intermittent. Anyone have these issues before?

Hi. The power went out completely on my Vizio VX32L when I connected it to the computer. I had both the tv and the computer powered off when I made the connection. When I turned back on, tv was dead, no power. I ordered a new power supply board and replaced it. It still doesn't work. Before I do anything with the mainboard, I am wondering if that could even be the problem. I will try the tests with a multi-meter, but I wonder if the computer aspect has any significance.

Hello Tampatec! Huge fan of your work and videos, they have been a great help with a great many television repairs. My question is regarding a Vizio 47" LED tv. The backlight voltage starts at 128v and drops to 66v, regardless whether or not the backlights are plugged in. I get the same voltage and drop with them plugged in or not plugged in. Does this mean there is a power supply issue or a bad led strip(s)?

    • @TampaTec
      @TampaTec  7 років тому +2

Eddie Mays can be bad LED strip but use the service manual to find out the running voltage for the LED backlight. I find that if the backlight settings were set to max or too High usually it's the LED strips.

Thank you very much for your reply! Well, if I had the service manual, I would def. take that advise, sadly I do not have it. I only have access to the User Guide. It's a Vizio LED E470i-A0.

You can poke around shop jimmys and other parts companies that offer some diagnoses, they might be able to help, I ended up taking my tv to a tech for a free estimate, if you have a local guy who will look at it for free it might be worth that too, good luck.

Since then, I've been getting bluish screen, no samsung logo and no picture. Occasionally, I'll hear the led driver board buzzing on low tone- dont know if it's normal. Also when I connect the one box to the main board, the screen will look like there was change scene and went back back to blue screen. I recently replaced the T con and there is no changes. Hello I need help with my M65-D0
I had a lightning storm issue and my TV when out. No display or status light in the lower left. I google and UA-cam videos on checking out and I thought I had a bad power supply board. I got the board and installed and the old board and the new board did the same thing with the clicking of the relay in the board. Then I continued to check again and I was able to find the the 5 volt signal from the main board was not coming in to the power supply. Then I ordered the main board today I get the board and installed. I powered on and I hear the click and the status light in the lower left turns on but it shuts off again and tried to start again. I have connected the HDMI in to multiple outlets and nothing. I have looked at you videos and the last 2 board are the t con and the LED driver board. But I really would like help in narrowing it down. I don't see any led from the back... or no sound that I can get. Please help.

    • @TampaTec

Steve Garrett if there is voltage feedback from a bad Xbox video port or bad hdmi cable it's more likely main board would go out first because hdmi cable is directly connected to that board. unless you have a bad AC outlet causing your tv to go bad. also maxing out backlight brightness to 100% will cause it to go out too. hope that helps
