That left engine shutdown demo was absolutely phenomenal. The propensity for older twins to dig a wing in made me Leary of them, now - not so much. Just wish I had a lazy 1.4 handy. Perfect craft for Australia and its islands. Will stay informed
@@CV_CA John Denver, according to the crash report, was in less than optimum physical / mental condition - he ran out of fuel, as well. Read the crash report.
As long as I had a minimum of $150 Million, I would be buying BOTH a DA62 and a DA20. Why both? The DA62 would be my family hauler, while the DA20 would be my hundred mile hopper to cross Lake Michigan twice a month.
Working on my twin engine certification now!! And after seeing this video I plan to buy one new in the next 5-7 years!!! I am dead serious wow what a plane had about decided on a king air 260 or Cessna 310 or even maybe Cessna sky master as I’ve flown In a second gen sky master many times with my original flight instructor but after watching this I’m sorry Cessna and Beachcraft but diamond here I come.
I truly admire the passion Diamond puts into its products. I love the statement at 53:38. That's a pretty bold statement and it speaks volumes when you have the confidence the customer is coming back after checking out the competition. I must admit, the DA62 is one beautiful, sexy, sleek and stable flying machine. Btw, I LOVE the color scheme on N969DA.
Great video, great editing. A well designed plane and a great factory. I did all kinds of engineering during my life. Can not recall a company that had a strong and useful motto and actually lived by it. Great management , client centered, and great engineering. If were younger and had more money,,,,,I would happily buy one. Wish you great success in the future and wish your buyers many happy and safe flights.
Did my multi in a DA42 with the austro engines at Embry-Riddle. They have us do single engine steep turns and it maintains altitude! Best light twin there is
The DA62 is a stunning aircraft and Id love to own one, but as with all new GA aircraft, their inflated prices are just too high for the vast majority of GA pilots out there. It’s a shame because I’d love to own one, but I don’t think I’d ever be able to afford one.
Their liability insurance is responsible for a significant amount. My understanding is that every airplane built has its own policy to cover the manufacturers liability for a set period of time. Until we get some kind of insurance reform we will not have better prices. The paperwork and certification is also a big part of the expense. The components themselves are not very expensive.
Also noticing that in engine out config you still limit the operating engine to 80%. I know that 100% is limited to 5 minutes (yes?) and then only on takeoff. That you have some climb ability at 80% on the good engine speaks volumes for this magnificent airplane. I’ll own one in my next life, and for now, enjoy “flying” it in X-Plane, the desktop simulator program!
What an incredible Testament to the bird. I learn how to fly on a Cessna 182. My dad was always in favor of twin engine because of redundancy. I have been contemplating about finding an aircraft between a Cessna 206, 208 or a 421. But after watching this video I think I know the way I should go.
I had the impression the aircraft was made in Europe. I’m certainly glad it’s made in the United States. This means there will not be any lag with parts or repairs. This video may have just turned me into an aircraft owner.
Da62 is going to be the aircraft I buy in a couple years. This company has amazing aircraft, I hope they do come around to designing a Diamond with a pressurized cabin.
@DiamondAircraftind - Please keep up with your UA-cam audience comments. We are very impressed with the DA62, you've done a tremendous job bringing a lot of information and education. However, some of us still have questions. I am seeing a lot of unanswered questions similar to the ones I have. Don't let a great PR video be marred by a post and forget process on a social media platform. If the video was not on a social media site, that would be understandable, but you have an opportunity to connect here on UA-cam with potential customers. If you post and forget, and then don't respond to questions here where many of us first learn about the company and the DA62, why should we be encouraged to believe customer service off of UA-cam would be superior? Food for thought. Thank you again for an excellent video.
Just introduced to this plane, you've sold me, as a student pilot, I can only dream someday to have the privilege to fly in this plane! If only the aviation world wasn't so expensive I could have gotten into this a long time ago. :)
It's funny how I had been watching some fairly random UA-cam video and this popped into my feed - and I ended up watching the entire thing. That obviously says a lot for your production company, but also for the time spent choosing and briefing them, which in turn says a lot for the depth of quality management throughout the company. Good management shows through in everything: I assume that you have a happy workforce who feel valued, from the top to the bottom. It's inspirational to see. I'm not a pilot, 'though I've flown light aircraft, and I have genuinely often wondered why they weren't built like F1 monocoque cars and I had assumed there was a solid reason. Seems I was wrong: guess I missed a business opportunity.
Add pressurization and a moveable pilot seat (while still retaining the 26G safety) and they would have the best GA plane on the market for high end application that that price point. The Beech Baron would be a has-been.
Ok, the JetA is cheap, (19:00 or so) but in terms of the cost of an hour burning holes in the sky one has to always factor in things like annual inspections and the eventual overhaul of two engines. Given their complexity, newness and that not a lot of A&Ps are going to be Diamond-fluent means taking the 62 to the right A&P. And it’s still going to cost something, something big, even for those who can pay cash for a new 62!
Okay, I'm sold. I don't have a pilot's license yet, and not sure how I'm going to come up with the money to buy it. But, this is great motivation to figure out a way to do it.
Absolutely magnificent video! content is simply great and lets you better understand the amazing pieces of engineering that Diamond creates. I will love the day I buy one.... getting there :)
Ah, these diamonds...I always dreamed about flying Boeings but as I’m now doing the flight training on Diamond airplanes, I want to just keep flying them 🤷♂️
When I saw the Da42 the first time I thought „how does this thing not break in two?“. It‘s a different but beautiful design, I had the chance to do a couple of IFR flights on the right seat of a Da42 equipped with a G1000, I wish I could fly in a Da62 at least once.
What's the payload like? In regards to 5 pax 1 pilot, plus baggage? Flown the da42 and it is kinda restricted in the amount of baggage ppl can bring. The 11.2-11.6 Gallon fuel per hour and that it uses Jet A1 which is half the price of 100LL here is amazing.
C'mon, how did the find that DA60 owner former F-15 pilot that had an engine failure in his F-15 and can speak about it in this ad - that's just ridiculously good, they must have been smiling for a week in the marketing department when they found that guy for their video.
Why was I thinking the same thing, and I also noted that they had him wear the same shirt in the interview that he was wearing in the plane footage, that was no coincidence, just a recognition technique, on the other hand, it could have just been the same day.. lol..
dumb question: Why do both props rotate in the same direction? Are the axial forces additive? If they turned in opposite directions, would the gyroscopic forces cancel out and provide better stability? Maybe the mass of the props is so small that the benefit or cost is trivial?
As an engineer: the safety/performance-orientation of design feels like BMW and (the original) Volvo/Saab. As an MBA: the focus on customer experience through vertical integration and adoption/curation of “make-it-simple” design features makes me think of Apple. As a pilot: I flew the DA-40 and really loved it. I look forward to owning the DA-62.
Many so called experts say a twin as a first plane is a bad idea.. naming all the negatives.. not hearing the positives at all.. I will start on a single.. maybe a DA40
I'm embarking on my next adventure and pursuing private pilot status. My objective is to train in a Da62 can you recommend a Diamond training centre in Ontario....
Is the DA62 aerobatic capable? I am looking forward to a checkride in one of these this summer. When I was younger and starting lessons, though I flew on Dad's lap at 4 years old, back around 1959, I started taking aerobatics at 16. Now in my mid 60s, I am getting back into general aviation and thinking of a twin rating. Though I have flown numerous twins back in the day, I was never certified. Senecas and other related. Great video. Very thorough review. Would love to own one some day. I'll take mine with 5 seats and metallic red paint, thank you. I wish your video didn't harp on the negative environmental impacts of 100LL. Pilots are aware of it, but no sense poking the bear if a critic of GA stumbled onto your video. Better left unsaid.
I disagree with you. Today's companies are so PR oriented that, if you want to see new things happen, you need to poke them PR wise. The "GA Critics" knows how to do it and it might be the thing Cessna, Beech or Piper needed to make the jump into the 21st Century engine wise : JetA for all :)
Will your company install more powerful engines on the DA62 and still maintain its fuel efficiency and reliability? Ex: 450 HP Engines on each side. I like this Aircraft.

If the first two minutes of this video were intended to hook an aviation enthusiast’s interest, it worked. You nailed it, Diamond!
Impressive to say the least. The testimonials are priceless. Kinda can’t find anything to critique. What a beautiful plane. I’m sold.
I am 1000% sold! not just on the DA62 but the Diamond Aircraft Family!

If I ever win the lottery, this will be my first purchase!
If you would win the lottery you would have a more interesting but shorter life, like John Denver.
With the Canadian dollar always below the USD$, you are ahead already!

As a retired engineer from Germany I say: excellent job of the whole "DIAMOND FAMILY" . And a really outstanding documentation.
Microsoft Flight Simulator bright me here. My favorite plane in the game!!
EDIT: Dude...that engine out demo was VERY impressive...
Your compliment is highly appreciated. We're happy to hear this ❣️
After getting used to flying in MSFS, I saw the Diamond DA62 and that is the one I am using to fly around the world.
me too, by far my favorite plane

I don't even have a PPL yet, but when I do and I have my ME rating, I'll be calling Diamond!
Waiting on one more stimulus check and I’m buying the DA 62
Nice to see a company with the technology and the imagination to move flying forward with safety and economic transportation!

Lovely peace of machine which translates to a peace of mind. Someday will own one. Thanks for the documentary.

I'll take the Piper Cub @ 3:58 :) The DA62 is quite impressive looking and seems fairly easy to fly for a twin.

Great aircraft. Great documentary. Have a plan to purchase this in the near future. Please incorporate a Garmin Auto Land feature on DA62.
That would require a Garmin 3000 to be installed. Not very likely, I would think as it would considerably add to the cost.
Not as far away as you might think.

I have my Private. I'll have my IFR in the Fall. This video inspired me to get a Multi rating!
Mention at about 8:00 of a new PPL who earned his license in his 62. Was he awarded a multiengine rating simultaneously?
PPL with AMEL (he'd have to get rated for single engine as an add-on)
I love the DA-62

Any plans for using the CD-300 in either the DA-62 or a larger twin?

Any thoughts of putting bigger engines for faster speeds? I know this would increase fuel consumption a little

Why is there manual control of the fuel pumps? Isn't that something the ECU would handle?
It does. These are the auxiliary fuel pumps (more or less backup)

Yes, the DA62 can be customized regarding the paint job. :)
