You would enjoy Floor's "reaction" to Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013. It's more of an explanation of her vocal choices and memories of that show Than a typical reaction video. It shows that she is very detailed in her approach to the song.
Brent, Brent, Brent....you provide some of the most thoughtful and enjoyable reactions. We listen to a lot of vocal coaches; and although you are newer to the reaction world...you are making your mark as a talented, thorough, and enjoyable reactor. Well done, my friend! Please consider reacting to Epica Sancta Terra (featuring Floor Jansen); more Nightwish...I really don’t care what song...love ‘em all; Strange Machines by The Gathering (live 1996); Take Home the Flame by Queensryche (live in Tokyo); Iron Maiden Hallowed Be Thy Name (live from 1982); Sober by Tool (live 1993 at Redding); Kingdom by Devin Townsend (live on EMG tv); Victim of Changes by Judas Priest (live in San Bernardino 1983)....this will keep us old metal heads happy as we share the wonder of voices in metal. I’m an old rocker, trust me here. Rock on, my friend. \m/
I love ❤️ how you were breaking down ALL the ways that Floor " colors" her vocals !!! I never noticed exactly why this song was so interesting, despite it's repetition of the lyrics ! Wonderful ☺️ Reaction ! So glad you popped up on my list ! Can't wait for More !!! Nightwish takes you on such a Mystical Magical Musical life-changing journey ! LOVE and Peace from Tennessee USA ❤️ Nightwish Army !
I gotta say, I love Nightwish, have for nearly twenty years. Used to be, I didn't really question why. Reactors like you (ones with a strong knowledge and the ability to break things down and explain them) are helping me understand not only why I love Nightwish, but why I like certain other bands or musicians. Thank you, you gave me quite a bit to think about~!
Wow… I’ve listened to this song a hundred times, and I’ve never caught that thematic evolution you pointed out in the breakdown. You’ve got a dang good ear dude!
I hope you will do many many more Nightwish, because you´re on a real journey here, and I love your insights, you feel it, man. I love your mic, too. :)
Thank you for this, you are teaching me a lot about my favourite songs. I absolutely love the analysis you do. Thank you again :) Love from England, UK :)
Wow, I always love watching your reactions and teachings. It is helpful that you take snippets of one piece and play it in comparison to another point that you are sharing. You really have a good ear, and even the point at the end where you notice that she was not only working up to that high-note but that she had only hit it the one time, is incredible. I am so glad you have such an appreciation for music that you can give such a glowing review.
Hi Brent, great reaction. You pointed out that the choir and the keys were doing the same melody as the chorus during the break. They eventually threw that all together on the last chorus and during her ad-lib at the end. 😊 The highest note performed live by Floor to date is on the song "Romanticide" which is my suggestion for your next reaction. An F6 I believe? You will also hear Marko on this one. ua-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/v-deo.html Yes, the universe was aligned in such a way that made this evening extremely magical for this band, for this crowd, because the entire performance was just absolutely flawless. Then again, that's Nightwish live for you, but this August performance had something very special in the form of Floor Jansen being granted the role of full time permanent vocalist 2 months prior. The love, the vibes, and the energy were very high and Floor was feeding off of that. 👍👍 Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘
Brent, thank you for this accurate and fine reacting, your comment of Floor´s singing opened my ears up. One of the best so far at least for me. Only thing you did not get it right was: Floor is not a human, she is a goddess sent to us, so that we all can enjoy of her vocals and be better humans. I do hope we will hear more of you and Nightwish reactions. Take care.
I call it dynamic nuance in that she can convey virtually any emotion at any sound level, from breathy to full on belt, while even changing dynamics mid lyric. I think it's a rare quality for vocalists and a big reason why I/we are so drawn to her.
Thanks for this video. You mention other things than other reactors, that is very cool. If you want to hear Marko (the bassist) sing, try out Everdream from this same concert, The greatest show on earth live at Tampere, great harmonies between both. Or try Hig hopes, cover by Nightwish, sung entirely by Marko.
For more Floor and Marko duets please check out Romanticide, Ghost River or Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean! 🔥😀 When you want to hear more of Marko on lead vocals try High Hopes (pink floyd tribute) or The Islander (live)! Your analyse is great as always! Greetings and stay well!
I’ve heard lots of reactions to many nighwish songs but I really do love your point of view. You have such an amazing view on music. I guess it’s what makes Filipinos or Filipinas some of best singers in the world. Have you heard, my Walden by nighwish , Troy is awesome. I think he’s taking over the vocals for Marco now. Not the same but he really does bring his own brilliance.
We all love Marko.. but unfortunately he left Nightwish to take care of his mental health and also because of his disappointment with the music industry, according to his note. I agree, he is phenomenal and I hope that he comes back in the future. If you missed Marko, you should react to "Ever Dream", "Romanticide", "Last Ride of The Day", "Ghost River" (all from Wacken 2013), "The Islander" (Tampere 2016) or even Your Is An Empty Hope (Wembley 2015 - this one with a surprise from Floor :)).
The islander (Live at Tampere) and High Hopes (cover of Pink Floyd song) should be reacted I think. Marco`s voice is very different and both cases amazing in those songs. Thank you for your job and greetings to Philippines from Nightwish fans.
excellent and very detailed analysis, thank you. I hope you have the opportunity to analyze The Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth, are the 2 masterpieces of the composer, on the last Floor he uses different vocal techniques masterfully
Thanks for the reaction! I really enjoyed the compositing you did to analyze melodies; never seen a reactor do that before. I do recommend also listening to the original version of the song for yourself, if only for context. Anette's take on Storytime has a lighter, more airy sound to it, almost flute-like sometimes. It's a different experience than Floor's 110% POWER take. (I love both personally, but for different reasons) Actually, that's just a good recommendation for all Nightwish songs. The studio version is the 1.0 initial release; the live versions change and evolve over time. Parts get mixed differently, new instruments come in, parts of songs acquire duets... Floor is well-known for singing parts that were originally silent or on the backing track, too. You can see that in both Storytime and Ghost Love Score. :)
Love your reactions ! I have heard so many reactions to this song but you managed to mention things that I haven’t heard before ! Definitely should check out Song of myself from the same concert . There’s so many more as well . They don’t do bad songs as you’ll find out
Romanticide and Everdream from this concert are great if you want to hear Marko....his voice is amazing. Floor.....I'm not convinced she's not preternatural. She is extraordinary.
Very, very nice reaction! You pay attention to things that no one else mentioned reactions - and for that matter! We all hear it, we all know it - but how many of us do not pay attention to such small but very interesting details? I think a great many of us! When I listen to a song that I seem to know well, I will always find something that I have not noticed before. And your comment helps a lot - it's worth listening to you! And since it's worth listening to, please consider including subtitles in your videos - you don't even know how many people don't speak English! If they can understand you thanks to the subtitles, believe me - they will appreciate your work very, very much, and you will gain new viewers! See you in the next movie!
Brent it you want to hear the true melodic beauty of Marko's voice listen to "While your lips are still Red" Live at Wembley Arena (2015). Tuomas (keyboard) wrote this as the theme song for a 2007 Finnish movie "The Matriarch." It is really quite beautiful. If you want to hear the best possible sonic version however, go to NIghtwish- While Your Lips Are Still Red (OFFICIAL VIDEO) from Nightwish's You Tube Channel. This version shows scenes from that movie and also shows Marko and Tuomas walking thru the movie set, at times past the actors. It is intriguing because Marko is singing Tuomas's words who is seen walking a couple paces behind him, and sometimes mouthing unknown words. Maybe in Finnish?
A music/voice teacher with Mickey Mouse on the wall, reacting to song about Disney characters, from composer of Scrooge McDuck album. Can we call it destiny? Excellent edited-in details, I learned a lot.
Poet and the Pendulum is the masterpiece, both musically and vocally IMO. Some will say learn the backstory first, but I found it more interesting to hear not knowing the story and discovering that later.
I'll jump on the bandwagon and recommend the live version of Phantom of the Opera from the "End of an Era" show....not only does Marko really display his vocal abilities there, but it will also give you the opportunity to react to the band's original lead singer, Tarja.
EXCELLENT REACTION!!! I feel there isn't enough comment on Floor's stage presence. It is stunning. She can stand like a mountain one minute and prowl around like a panther the next. She can also vamp. In other bands (After Forever, Revamp) she has shown her vulnerable side and her pissed off biker chick side. Not so much with Nightwish.
I notice she kind of runs out of breath ones or twice with this one - unsurprising, considering she'd only joined earlier that tour. Yes, I did just say she joined mid-tour. She does badass quite nicely with Romanticide, btw. ;)
two songs you will really enjoy both from the same show Wacken 2013 , "Ghost River" ua-cam.com/video/05eitd-EA6I/v-deo.html marco sings , "Song of Myself". ua-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/v-deo.html, just amazing song structure
Brent how do you suppose windmilling might effect most singers vocal performances (not to mention equilibrium.) Floor seems to take it in stride... maybe it even helps her vocals by opening her sinuses. In terms of speech I could see windmilling effecting the pressures in the sinus cavities which add resonance to the voice. Any thoughts on this topic? Thanks.
Honestly, I'm not so sure about internal and vocal effects of windmilling, as I can't really do it without getting dizzy like Floor does lol. Although in order to do it successfully, your neck needs to be very loose to avoid injury, so I guess it can help with releasing tension in the neck muscles. And yes, maybe it does helps clear up the sinuses, as you said.
@@BrentBanaag Well Floor has been in some form of metal band since she was 18 and either head banging or windmilling. So she knows how to do it without injuring herself. She likely won't be able to keep it up too many more years. She is 40 now. You'll notice in the videos every time she windmills she has to re-seat her IEMs. She gets some pretty serious RPMs going.
This is an Anette Olson song not Foor Jansens. Floor is way overrated imho because all the good stuff were done by Tarja and Anette. Floors original material is poor in comparison.
Floor, human? You must be thinking about someone else! Our Floor is a goddess 😉❤️
Even her name Floor has roots in ancient Roman goddes Flora.
That's what I was thinking.
You would enjoy Floor's "reaction" to Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013. It's more of an explanation of her vocal choices and memories of that show Than a typical reaction video. It shows that she is very detailed in her approach to the song.
heard so many reactions to this song but you added some things i never heard before thank you .great reaction
I agree, totally !!!
Me three. I really love the education that Brent gives along with the reaction.
yeah, me too!

Same Wacken concert... Marco and Floor singing Ghost River!!
Also listen to Song of Myself...just because its THAT good! 😏💕

Re that windmill... Floor actually did a tutorial on how to headbang and not get dizzy 😎

Thank you, I learned a lot! If you are interested in Marco, do High Hopes, their tribute to Pink Floyd.
really like the comp you did of the theme.
Just wait for Gabriel! Great in depth reaction!
Thanks, interesting details which stand out from most reactions.

Awesome job! You get a coffee for this one 😊 I would love to hear what you think of '7 Days to the Wolves' live from Wembley.
Our durch windmill, and the best female Singer of our Lifetime. My opinion. QUEEN FLOOR. 🤗 one tip, hear to the lyrics from Tuomas.

@@galadballcrusher8182 Crazy good suggestion!
And Marco with Tarja in Nightwish's "Phantom of the Opera" will show you what he can do with his voice.
Kiss while your lips are red
There's also Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" where Marko takes center stage. It's way more than a cover.
You should check out Floor doing Phantom of The Opera. Gives me chills every time I watch it.
Great reaction ! Greetings
Great reaction👍Next Nightwish : “Everdream”🤘🏽🇳🇱
It's in F minor but guitar and bass play in G minor (tuned down a whole step)

Revamp-disdain
ReVamp-wildcard
