By far my new favorite KCRW live performance. This was just a flawless take by Tycho. They're one of my favorite bands for a reason and here's your hook for them to be the same for you.
Thank you for linking/sharing this. Its so awesome @_@ I've been wanting to find a band that has an underwater-like feel to it, and wasn't too aggressive like Animals As Leaders. (I *LOVE* AAL but needed that chill vibe)
Not trying to be a douche or anything but i think tycho is just the dude on the keyboard. He produces all the music and is just performing with a live band.
@mrhoffame Tycho is very original its hard to say. I think the closest have heard is maybe "the Flashbulb" or "Bonobo". Obviously not every song sounds the same but some cross into similar territory. Its a little more electronic but you may also like Ambassadeurs". hope you find something you like.
I'm a huge fan, this sounds great and all. For a second I thought, man, I'd be super bored if I were playing the parts Scott is playing...but then I realized it doesn't matter. He gets his kicks from orchestrating and hearing the music he wrote on real, live, acoustic instruments.
I remember seeing Tycho live earlier this year at the fonda Theatre and and my friend texted me if I felt the earthquake and I was like I didn't feel shit from this great music, I can't wait to see Tycho again in San Diego
More similar to Ulrich Schnauss than BoC. Tycho uses to that eerie 70's synth sound that people are referring to, though. Sounds great live... with true instrument playing!
He is coming to play in my hometown (Dublin) and the tickets are only 15 euro but I have no one else to go with and it would be awkward if I just went on my own :(
Super true to the original recording! My favorite band in the genre. I'll see them live when they come close to DC. This is one of my favorite tracks and I felt the "urge" to go to my studio and do part of the track just for fun and to learn and practice sound design and mixing techniques, as their sound is very unique. For those that want to take a listen: soundcloud.com/triflux/awake-partial-cover3 I know many are not going to like it but bear in mind that no samples from the actual recording were taken this is just done from scratch.
Tycho simply sounds amazing. Pure magic for the ears. I am a huge fan of his music, and Tycho is a big influence on my style of song writing. If you guys want to hear it, just visit my channel where I have uploaded my first song. Thanks in advance !
This is unbelievably tight. A really phenomenal performance to do such justice to the studio recording.
I love drummers that do more with less. Drums in this track are such a tight steady presence without trying to do too much.
they always are, i also love the drums in "spectre", or "montana"
Yes, absolutely. Add a driving bass riff and you're good to go!
Nothing can ever replace the feel of a real drummer.
that drummer is very underrated
man that hi hat sound just perfect and so simple:)
Pocket players get no love! Drummer dude is the MVP
What a tight drummer. Damn. My goal in life is to play like him.
it's so perfect and harmonic. The right sound to party, to chill and to sleep aswell
drummer is killin it
Band is tight. Studio is mic-ed perfect. Polished.
simply . . . " YES!!! " this is it , what ever " it " is . . . so sweet , superb , lovely . . . so whole
These guys are amazing. I love their music on so many levels and i am so happy to see how successful they've been lately.
I love this song. It gives me chills.
This is absolutely the most bueatiful song i have ever heard
One of the best bands of this time!!

Thanks for clarifying :)
Are there other bands you love that are very much in this style? If so who?

Saw them live in Toronto the other night and by god, they're amazing.
Beautiful, just beautiful.
Magical🤩reminds me of good times RIP Q ❤
The right hand work on that bass line is nuts. Incredible time.
they played this in Auckland, New Zealand for Laneways, what a sound, we were front row. It was a fantastic set!
Saw them in Houston for the second time on the 29th. Tycho has been changing my life since 2011.
These guys are amazing live! I just saw them in Chicago, and I couldn't believe how good they sound live. Amazing!
this song matches perfectly the word 'Awake' ... love you, Tycho!
You guys have the best sounding studio mixes.
The perfect vibes y’all
the auditive expression of harmony
great way to start your morning...

They're all so fucking perfect you could've convinced me that this was a studio recording.
The four of you work so well together!
GREAT ALBUM!
WHAT A BLOODY GOOD SONG THIS IS
That was a very very tight performance! good mix and all! thanks KCRW
Come back to Philly! Such a good show.
I remember seeing Tycho live earlier this year at the fonda Theatre and and my friend texted me if I felt the earthquake and I was like I didn't feel shit from this great music, I can't wait to see Tycho again in San Diego

perfect.
Bass player does the hardest part in the band.. to remain so steady
+Tchekmeian Clara i beg to differ.. guitarist has to hold his tempo right.. or his digital delay will go haywire XD
Dilip Ganison ..yall forgetting the drummer man..gotta keep that beat goin...he bad.👍
Tbh I think the keyboardist and drummer have the hardest parts it you can't disregard the rest of the band every part is equally as important
Percussion is the busiest job in a band from playing to recording bass aint shit my last track had 8 different percussion tracks
@@kevinnel7038 dude the synth is step sequenced
Love it!
очень-очень нра этот мальчик
good shit!
Fucking Amazing!
AWESOME =)
does anyone know the make/model of synths this guy is using?
this sounds exactly as the album. Excelent band, stop comparing them to boards of canada pls, its not the same shit

mgdbythesea you're right. that old analogy synth lead is great
Yes, much closer to Ulrich Scnauss. Their Epoch album is unbelievably good.
He is coming to play in my hometown (Dublin) and the tickets are only 15 euro but I have no one else to go with and it would be awkward if I just went on my own :(

Rory's a beast.

Sounds great! What kind of cymbals are those there?
Ну просто нет слов))) Это Крутяк)))
two words: HOT SHIT.
Is this at Apogee Studios?
showed my mom and she said the following: are people who like what you do.
That rift is very 80s U2.
So, is it not possible to be a mainstream band if you don't sing?
Tycho simply sounds amazing. Pure magic for the ears.

Cool.. in a really boring kind of a way that I needed on this listening occasion.
Sometimes vox are unnecessary.
