I just cried listening to this for the hundredth time since COVID started. One of the best KEXP concerts ever posted and it has gotten me through some really awful times. I’ve often wondered if I’m the only one who cries from some of TYCHO’s songs lol

I've been listening to tycho for 3 years and I honestly had no idea He used a full band. Talk about ignorance..... This blew me away. A walk live is astonishing to hear. I can't believe how well they turn this into live material. Talk about musicians.
As far as i know the addition of a full band is a recent thing and his earlier material was just him. but the time i spent writing this i could have used google to make sure lmao oh well
He only uses a full band for live performances.
The band has been a recent change. They were all involved in recording the new album, Scott just edits the shit out of all the recordings to make the tracks. Back in the day he used to record everything himself

They are so talented! For me, Tycho's music sounds like nature painting. They are painting sounds of water, wind, leaf, with their instrument.

+Mrpaulojorge97 Well, he isn't entirely wrong. Most electronic music should easily be played using synthesizers (keyboards and such). Tycho just makes it easier for himself by using live instruments rather than a computer.
Though, the computer is very helpful at times, Higler's pointing to people who stay on a laptop. That is condemnable.
+higler420 I love Tycho. I also love ODESZA, Chromeo, Chet Faker, CHVRCHES, Crystal Castles, etc... but I'd be lying if I said I don't enjoy somebody like Hardwell or Tiesto either. Everybody has their own way of doing things.

My young nephew was a brilliant guitarist and I had hoped he'd transition to playing this kinda chill music but he passed away and I'll forever wonder. But this one from Tycho always bringing me happy memories.

Piotr Bogdan Hey, I know what you're talking about, I also have seen Tycho at Basen. I guess they played for a bigger audience and live performances with live people standing in front of you always have a different energy, different drive. Yes, Tycho sounded in another way, but it was mindblowing as well )))
6 years later and i'm still amazed by Rory's performance. How he played 'Spectre' is out of this world. He is carrying each and every single track with his talent.

This build of song has carried me through journeys. Muscle memory like pedaling and pedaling over mountains mountains, The drummer pumped my legs until I cried. It was awesome. It still is.

How beautiful is that? That song will always be special to me as it's the first song of theirs I'd ever heard, and I was immediately transported. That whole album helped me through a difficult time.

On a Wednesday night after another long day of getting nowhere and this set reminded me that I'm alive. Just in the same way Boards of Canada hits you on an emotional level that transcends words, I could drown to this and smile. Thanks Tycho - music for the soul at an all time low.

Scott is a really nice guy, met him at a show in Atlanta for the Dive tour. In a lot of ways, Tycho has helped shape my life in a very positive way. Much love and respect!
The only thing I regret when I hear these guys is not having discovered them earlier. Great band!
Yes, the drummer has an excellent touch, and fantastic timing.
I normally listen to the studio recordings but in this case the performance is so incredible that I keep coming back. The groove, the reverb, the amazing drums, they're all unmatched.
I've had a couple of a weird experiences involving Tycho.
Last fall, I went to see a baseball game, and listened to Tycho on the ride up. After leaving the park, I noticed "Tycho", lit up on a theater billboard nearby, as they were scheduled to play the next month. I was kinda awestruck by the seemingly random coincidence.
Then not a couple weeks later, I was listening to Tycho while heading up to watch an air-show (with jets, and airplanes and the such). They incorporated "Awake" into a specific part of their show. It took me a minute to realize I was hearing it! Made the show *that* much better for me.
Funny experiences, incredible music.

I heard the recorded version of Awake for the first time recently and thought it was okay, not outstanding. But I was waking from a dream a couple of mornings ago, and for some reason its haunting yet optimistic melody came bubbling to the surface of my mind. Now I can't stop listening to it, and the live version definitely *is* outstanding.
