      Great to know im helping people out, hopefully you enjoy your raids and best of luck question, you can sip this below if you're not interested but if you are enjoy!
      i personally wouldn't say i know exactly what im talking about but i do know from experience what has worked and not worked for me over the years XD just sharing that with people who need it.
      the classic "clear temp, power mode, ect" that stuff can help but only on specific systems for example a PC/Laptop with duel GPU's maybe 1 for spare monitors or iGPU if power mode isn't setup it'll automatically choose a GPU and in some cases it'll choose the weaker GPU resulting in poor performance.
      The temp file thing is good if you've kept the same windows for years without general maintenance although with todays age of SSD's theres no such thing as "fragmentation" anymore on a mechanical drive since not many people use them anymore so it's another useless tip for fps only good for saving space these days.
      The "adjust for best performance" option people do used to work wonders for windows 7 and older because it disabled the transparency and "aero" effect which hogged GPU power back in the day that does nothing in windows 10 so again a useless tip to give for fps.
      The absolute best thing when it comes to gaining FPS is what i've shown you & stripping/debloating windows off all the junk that way nothing is hogging power.

      @@ThatBritishGuy thanks man. In general, the tips and advice given wont just help with tarkov but help our other games aswell. Like tarkov is so weird in optimisation. The mip streaming even though our computers are essentially 1:1 (although you have 2g vram and 0.2 Ghz more cpu base freq then me) [tdlr: i have 1050ti and i5-7400] is not helping me even though you suggested. Your guide ironically made me get frames i shoulda had since i remember this performance being had 4 wipes ago but i do know i can play games like fucking terraria or Pac-Man at frames i really dont need XD. Thankyou again and i think ive reached thr limit to optimisation. Thx for the guide man. My setup is not that bad but after Streets of Tarkov launch i was just not able to play there because of serious stutters. Your solutions made the stutters go away. Even if my framarate on this map varies from 45 to 80, the transitions are smooth enough for me to not to be killed because of it. I had fights with hard fps drops and i was still in control. On the rest of the maps the drops are now barely noticable and there is no hard stutters. I tested this in other games too and it works great. For example in Assetto Corsa Competizione, split second stutter may be the difference betwen you making the corner and going offtrack or hitting somebody. In this game still there are hard stutters if someone joins the server during the race but i play on the servers where is no mid-session join. Thx a lot! None of the guides from the internet did that for me. I had of course significant framerate increases but the stutters were so annoying.

    Thanks for the video, this is one of the first videos about video game setting optimization that doesn't cover the same exact Windows settings that every other video does.
    I have a i7-2600 in an old Optiplex 990, 20GB of RAM (2x8GB, 2x2GB), a MSI 1050ti LP (+150core +450mem), and a 512GB SSD + 3x1TB HDDs.
    I started playing a few months ago and my framerate was alright with no stutters, and while I still suck at PVP I was able to flick a few scavs.
    With the new update my framerate was completely bork'd and I was stuttering like hell, I gave up playing after wipe day because my frametimes + server issues made the game unbearable.
    After giving the game another go today I still had the same issues, so I luckily found your videos and went from a stuttery 20fps to a smooth 30-45fps (45fps during clear weather in Woods, 30 during the rain in Reserve)
    It's insane how un-optimized this game is, I mean, with how few AI exist in the game world, yet they take up damn near 30-40% of your framerate just to compute.
    Another interesting thing is how the wrong audio settings/implementations can cause severe stuttering. In Tarkov having binaural audio enabled causes stutters, in Discord having my VoiceMeeter audio device set as default will cause audio stuttering, and while using Oculus Link to my Quest 2, if the audio setting isnt set to "default" in the Oculus app, I get stutters in VR.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  2 роки тому +3

      Yeah this game is insanely bad optimised for how small the maps are compared to other games with AI, they'd definitely borked the coding completely and instead of fixing it they just keep piling code ontop of already broken code, it needs to be redone from ground up to fix the issues they have.

    Before, everything was fine, stable FPS without lags and anything else, I just play normally. But at one point (I still didn’t understand why), I started having fierce freezes and they happen exactly when an icon pops up in the upper right corner as if the server wants to kick me out, that is, a crossed connection and it is at this moment that the freezes begin. I tried many ways from different people, but I still didn’t understand how to fix it) In addition to this, after raids, an error almost always pops up when items do not want to move in the warehouse, and an error pops up with the opposite something there (I don’t remember, I just immediately re-enter game). And this combination does not allow me to play calmly, but there are moments when you sit and wait for these freezes to pass, but it can come out in very unpleasant moments of the game.

    Appreciate the advice, you are so right I was just talking about this on Reddit the other days since this patch 13 the performance is has gotten worse on all maps, I don't know how ppl justify just constantly throwing money at the problem for a single game, and the amount of click bait for ppl that are struggling is ridiculous. If I need 64 gigs of ddr5, i9 clocked at 6ghz, and a 4090 to play a game, the game probably shouldn't be played.. this guide definitely is the most logical approach I've seen recently that fits what solutions I'm looking for I just want stable frames I'm not looking for the highest frames

      Thats exactly the rant & rage chat i was going for tbh, i literally just got off reading 3-4 reddit post's of people just replying with "hey throw money at it" and it pissed me off and that's where this video came from as you can tell by the tone in my voice during the video haha.
      you're absolutely right, if you gotta throw all that hardware power at a game just to pull 110-120avg then theres a problem with the game itself, from a price to performance stand-point doing it this way for stable gameplay is better than spending 1-2k on a new PC just to get higher fps, low fps in tarkov isn't as noticable as low fps in cs or valorant because of the nature of the game.

    @ThatBritishGuy in ur video u stated that bc the server isnt local it takes performance from your pc. That is avrually incorrect. If the server was local all of the map processing and ai movement and actions qould be processed by ur pc. Bc it is online, you actually are getting better cpu performance. But if ur network is bad. It wont matter bc that causes stuttering on its own

    • @temuguy1521
      @temuguy1521 Рік тому

      Secondly. Most of this game is processed on the cpu because it is server sided. All of the game except what is immediately in ur view on screen, is processed by the cpu bc it's scripts. Not high intensity graphics processing. As far as graphics tarkov isn't that high end. It's all the loot and individual items being picked up, dropped, etc. All of that is sent through the server to ur client at which time the client processes that as a script and registers it on ur end. Ur gpu isn't handling the scripts for the loot or anything that isn't graphics based. Ur gpu isn't a gaming processing unit. It's a graphics processing unit. Just bc its good at graphics doesn't mean it's good at handling scripts.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  Рік тому

      if what you just said was actually factual then why does tarkov offline run better when ran locally than when ran online with BSG's servers?
      Surely if it's ran locally entirely on my end it would run worse not better since it's extra workload, i can understand what you're trying to say but if what you said is how tarkov is doing it then the performance wouldn't be that bad which is why what you said is partially wrong.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  Рік тому

      im well aware the GPU is a Graphics Processing Unit but theres still specific things the GPU can process better than the CPU that tarkov isn't utilising, GPU's have alot of things built into them besides graphics processing these days, HW Encoding, physics all that is built right into them which otherwise wouldn't of been back in the day.@@temuguy1521
      The point is BSG is not using things correctly which is causing insane performance issues for everyone else, how else do you explain 4090's and 2023 CPU's struggling to perform on a game nearing 7 years old.... im sorry but when hardware from todays years struggles to run a game that's nearing a decade old then something is clearly wrong with the game itself.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  Рік тому

      Not to mention BSG forcing everything possible into RAM that could otherwise be kept on the drive, all they're doing is making extra queues and workloads between the CPU and GPU by doing that, they do little to 0 caching besides loot icons, they refuse to make AI calculations strickly server side idk what else to tell you man.
      Theres games out there thats got WAAAAY more complicated AI, way more quanitity of players and way more complicated graphics and 10x the map sizes but somehow perform 20x better than tarkov.
      if you got the explaination as to why these other games can do it but BSG can't then by all means go right ahead but the only answer is BSG isn't coding the game correctly and the GPU & CPU isn't being utilised correctly with the game itself. simple.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  Рік тому

      Example, Rust runs on unity just like tarkov, has AI, has 250+ players in a server with constant loot drops, constant debris flying around, animals you name it yet somehow rust manages to give you perfectly fine 200+ fps on the most low end old hardware yet tarkov on the same engine with a smaller map, less players and less AI can bearly break the 100 mark if you're lucky and you gotta own a PC with 5grands worth of GPU and CPU power? if you got the explaination please do explain it but no explaination will be good enough.
      Tarkov is and will always be badly made not efficient, small maps, 10-15players max with some AI spread around walking on set paths (Not Complicated) 0 reason for the game to absolutely TANK fps strickly from AI alone.

  • @EricTheBroBean
    @EricTheBroBean Рік тому

    I've been using Process Lasso for more than a year now and it used to help with performance with hyperthreading disabled, but I've noticed lately I get better performance with hyperthreading on, it could be because im using Win 11 and it has better CPU scheduling than Win 10
    I still use Lasso, but I only limit Tarkov to use CPU 0-15, while limiting background apps such as Discord, Winamp, Firefox etc to E-cores 16-23
    For reference my specs are:
    i9-1900k (Manually overclocked all P-cores to 5.2ghz)
    Asus RTX 4070Ti ROG Strix OC (Manually overclocked, runs in MSI mode)
    64GB RAM with XMP @ 3600mhz
    Game is installed on a M2 NVME SSD
    After upgrading my RAM from 32 to 64GB, both Lighthouse and Streets runs a lot smoother, as both maps use up about 32GB of RAM, I found this to be a better solution than increasing the pagefile.
    You make some good points, but even 32GB of RAM can bottleneck your performance in some maps, depending on the settings of course.

    • @ThatBritishGuy

      I mean yeah technically speaking adding more ram and throwing money at the problem will eventually fix it but with the new engine coming out in the next few weeks (next technical patch in the road map) which offers and i quote "massive boost's to performance" and "significantly reducing memory consumption" i feel like the 32gb of ram will turn out to be overkill aslong as BSG sticks to what they say.
      the only reason maps use so much memory in tarkov is strickly due to the fact they put all the maps into memory during the "loading" phase if they just did what everone else does and leave it to load texture from the drive and just optimised textures and compression that way it'd run a ton better
      Upgrading to 32gb kits isn't for everyone, not many people can do that, have funds todo that or play on ram limited specific hardware making it unsupported to use that much memory.

    • @EricTheBroBean
      @EricTheBroBean Рік тому

      @@ThatBritishGuy Im not gonna say it doesnt load all maps into the RAM, but from my understanding i didnt think it did, just based on that the amount of RAM being used varies from map to map.
      But the textures, shaders and such should be loaded into the Video RAM, not the RAM.
      If you mean it leaks or sticks in the memory, i agree, thats why restarting the game before or after playing certain maps help.
      However i dont see it using less RAM initially after the patch, but with less leakage and more optimized usage, but i may be wrong.
      However, the pagefile will always be slower than actual RAM, and in my opinion you should only make games utilize the pagefile as a last resort.

      Ima be as bluntly honest with you as possible, no matter how much money you throw at tarkov you're not getting more than 100fps MAX on the big maps like streets and lighthouse, not even the top streamers get that fps either so dw.
      with your hardware you'll wanna have some settings up otherwise that 4080 is going to be at power-saving idle mode not boosting up.

    I have i3-4130 8gb of ram and GTX 750Ti and after ur video without overclocking, tarkov actually playable, loaded in as a test into Shoreline and I still have stutters for first 10-20s and game lags first time I open inventory or first time I press esc, but after that, smooth for the rest of the raid.
    Another thing I use aswell is Mem Reduct program, cuz this game I think has big memory leak or something I set it on Mem Reduct to clean ram every 5min and it seems like helped aswell
    I never thought I could run tarkov on such a shitty pc that well.

      Alot of people assume the stutters, low fps, crashing and lag spikes are due to old hardware when in reality it's due to poor game design and management of your hardware.
      Glad it's finally playable and on shoreline too which had a new sky box similar to streets and a few other changes that tanks fps, 16GB of ram over 8 makes a HUUUGE difference in terms of load-times and stuttering as can be seen in my interchange test clips but being on as old of hardware you're on only do that upgrade if you happen to find a set for super cheap.
      being a 750ti i highly recommend FSR or Nvidia's Image Scaling inside the control panel, tarkov uses ALOT of video memory and the 750TI will be lacking that department.

    Pretty much incontrovertible facts you point out.
    I am a professional SW engineer (for the automotive and defense industries). I love this game but there is something obviously wrong with how BSG coded 3 different areas:
    - AI
    - REFLEX, DLSS, latency reduction
    - sound engine
    I have 2 strong performance machines, one from 2021 with 40GB RAM and a 6GB VRAM card, the other from 2022, 32GB RAM, 8GB VRAM card, 10th gen and 11th gen CPUs respectively.
    Tarkov runs nearly maxed out on the 2021 machine and 55 to 76 FPS with PVE engaged in offline mode.
    Tarkov takes a dive into the low 40s fps with the more recent machine..
    I use the same SSD on superspeed interfaces with both machines.
    Same Nvidia drivers on both machines.
    The only big diff is the 2021 machine has WIN10, the 2022 machine has WIN11. Both systems are very very optimized.
    The exact same settings demand 6 GB RAM spikes in the 2021 machine, and 8GB RAM spikes in the 2022 machine.
    Very odd.

    Hello There!
    I hope you are doing very well. I share with you this problem that I have had for years and I cannot solve it.
    The tarkov is super fluid for me and I have no major problems, BUT when using a scope with magnification, even if it is x2, the game freezes for 0.5 to 2 seconds. This happens at the time of aiming, then it is corrected but if I let 1 or 2 minutes pass, the screen freezes again when aiming.
    My computer is as follows: Ryzen 7 5800x, 32 GB of RAM at 3200, RX 5700 XT of 8 Gb and the game is installed on an SSD, it should be noted that all the components are updated to date, including the OS which is Windows 10.
    I've tried to adjust the monitor's frame rate, from the BSG launcher, I've undervolted the graphics, I've played without discord, with discord, only with tarkov, reinstall tarkov from scratch, reinstall drivers from scratch, reinstall the operating system from scratch even and nothing can fix the problem.
    If you have any idea how I can fix it, I would appreciate it :c

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  4 місяці тому +1

      Try using FSR, the freezing due to aiming is because tarkovs scopes are double rendered, basically means it renders the game twice which is what causes it to lag also enable any shader cache if AMD's software has that, im not familiar with AMD's software so idk what kind of options you have in there.
      Make sure 10000% that any "memory cleaners" including tarkovs built in one is turned OFF, alot of "tarkov fps guides" tell you to download/enable these please do not use them they can also cause these kind of issues.

      For me to findout exactly why AI causes this much of an FPS drop i'd need to know about coding which i do not so theres no real way i'd be-able to give an indepth analysis on why AI causes so much issues, only possible solution is to get the GPU to assist in the handling of AI data but idk exactly how all that works.
      What 1050ti and 4 core cpu do you have so i can look at the specs of them? don't forget RAM is extremely important aswell. You should be getting way more than 35fps despite it being a 1050ti it's still most likely a 4gb vram card right? the 4 core might be an issue if it's an extremely older one but do try the virtual memory and other tweaks i've shown and let me know if you still have issues.
      i will be doing a video in the future going through every single in-game setting and tweak out there 1 by 1 to see just how much they actually impact performance and the difference in usages which will be curious.

Woods is sometimes the same but is generally stable. Shoreline is more stable then Customs funny enough. Lighthouse haven't tested, and Reserve is the most unstable ie tanking. Main issue is my FPS isn't consistent and drops like a rock sometimes, then booasts back up the next. It's weird. And it is indeed connected to AI because offline I get a stable 60 or more ez much like in your vid.
      I did your changes and got a boost to 50-59 FPS in menu. Will try in raid next.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  2 роки тому

      i7-7700HQ im assuming you're running on a laptop with that CPU since it's a mobile chip that's part of your issue since mobile chips have a lower base clock, that CPU should boost 3.8ghz single core and 3.5/3.6ghz all core, the 2.80ghz is only the base clock speed having a slower clock speed will be the cause of your lacking in FPS.
      Your cpu also has hyperthreading since it's an i7, 4 cores but 8 threads, the extra threads might help your stuttering and stability issues if it's even enabled.
      If you are on a laptop that means that GPU will be switching between integrated and dedicated most likely due to power features of laptops, you'll have to tell windows to use your 1050ti when playing tarkov if it's not using it already.

    • @ThatBritishGuy

      As said in the pinned comment, if you're bluescreening which should never happen it's most likley due to you setting a pagefile size bigger than your available space on that drive which then causes allocation issues.

      you can turn it off if you want or back to auto but disabling it will cause alot more issues and setting it to auto will let windows choose how much you need, as shown in the video the BSG devs them selves recommended this fix so it can't be "suspicious" plus i shown you in the video gameplay of me using it and a rivertuner overlay showing the exact mb pagefile amount too, must be something you're doing wrong or something you've personally incorrectly setup.

      @@asskillme545 Yeah tons of people this wipe even with 32gb ram and an SSD still get lag issues but an SSD will definitely help.
      if you feel like trying something unique you could "short stroke" your HDD it's an old technique used back in the day, it's better if you watch linus tech tips video on short stroking for a better explanation than what i can give but basically you partition your drive for less space so you're only using the faster part of your HDD but in return you lose that extra space and can't use it.

As of late my game seizes on itself, especially in gunfights and it gets me killed. Also kinda a side note, when im scoped in, the whole sight picture is significantly darker then unscoped. this causes issues during night raids, i can see the fuckers decent at a range but i scoped in and i cant see shit. Ive fiddled with postfx but it hasnt done much. Could it be a graphical setting that i need to change?

    Hey, thank you for the video! It looks very promising! I have the exact same PC specs as you but when I go to my system properties, my CPU shows 3.40 GHz in the same position where it shows 3.90 GHz for you. You call it "boost". Does it make a difference or will I be able to run Tarkov with a similar performance as you? Thank you!

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  Рік тому

      if you have the exact same CPU as me except yours shows 3.4 and not 3.9 single 3.7all core then you won't get the same performance as me, boost gives slightly higher clock speed all core which helps with cpu intensive situations to enable turbo boost you can go into the BIOS and look for an option called "Intel Turbo Boost" and enable that if you wish to not enable turbo boost you can just leave it off it as it's only 300mhz extra clock speed that you'll get since 3.9 is only on a single cpu core and during games it'll only be 3.7.

      hmm you should get more of an fps boost than 70 with bots disabled, something isn't setup correctly with your PC for your frames to be that low in an empty raid.
      Look up on youtube your system specs on tarkov there will be a few benchmarks showing what performance you should be getting and expect to get.

    I had the same problem like that i7 guy i was upgrading GPU only all the time ,and never my i7 8700,its playable but its not optimal you feel big fps drops in fire fight cause my 2070 was to strong for i7 8700.
    Now i upgraded to 3070 and i5 13600k and my fps drops under 90 only on interchange in the middle watching thru scope online raid.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  2 роки тому

      What can happen is if your system is unbalanced aka gpu stronger than cpu then your gpu will be under utilised which if not setup will then run in a lower power state and/or not boosting causing the super bad fps.

    • @ThatBritishGuy
      @ThatBritishGuy  2 роки тому

      Yeah 720p isn't exactly ideal, if you plan to play at lower resolutions enable nvidias NIS(Nvidia Image Scaling) you run at a lower native resolution and it upscales the resolution and sharpens the image for you while keeping the same performance gains as native 720p.
      what do you run at now?

    • @ThatBritishGuy

      Honestly it's best to test it yourself, every CPU, application and PC handles things differently so try it on and try it off whatever offers you better performance and consistency but make sure you use process lassos todo it, the in-game option can be a little wonky and sometimes not work correctly if at all.

      always set your pagefile to your SSD aswell, you do NOT want pagefile on a mechanical drive.
