  • Talking about how the days of being a housewife are over.
I will be releasing a series of videos every other day up until Christmas. I didn't manage to do one everyday as I still work full-time and finish work at six everyday.
I literally threw everything in to this series, filming after work, editing until midnight. I don't want to spoil things for you, but things didn't go quite to plan.
I hope you enjoy this series. It's the most rewarding thing I have ever accomplished in six weeks and I have grown so much as a person by doing it. I did all the filming and editing myself. This is literally my baby.
I feel like a different person and the strongest I have ever felt.
I will take January off from posting and just see how my channel is performing, but I'm just glad that I did VLOGMAS, even though the odds were stacked against me.

Thing is, the stay at home wife & mother who didn’t work only existed for middle class - upper class people from 1950s -2000s. During both world wars nearly all women worked to support the men overseas. Before that most women worked on the farm or with the husband side by side to make a living and raise the family, cooking, washing, etc were full time jobs….

Yeah it feels kind of weird to have the "trad wife" life promoted so much because it also erases the history of women who had a huge role in fighting for workday lengths that didn't basically kill you and for safer working conditions as they worked in sweatshop clothing factories in the US. It also erases America's history of child labor because if you don't have money, everyone has to work.
For example (not in the US but still relevant), in Aachen there is a statue remembering the children who were put to work testing needles by rolling them with their pinky fingers. Their fingers would become permanently deformed from doing this for hours. As adults these kids would recognize those who worked in the same position when they held up their pinky fingers. That doesn't sound like the "traditional" family way but it was the way for many families.

If my baby boomer father couldn’t provide enough to give me an easy life, then some mfer my own age in 2024 is kidding himself if he thinks he can.

Well, your right Claire. In this day and age it takes two incomes to make it unless you only have one income and want to live in poverty. No one to fall back on. I used to produce a TV program by myself so I know it takes work and dedication to do what your doing. Like your green top. Looks good on you. Gary

Exactly, the reality of finding a millionaire is pretty slim and you'll always have to turn a blind eye to his indiscretions if you do pick a rich man. That's part of the deal.

Men like this don’t even understand how economics work under capitalism. It’s impossible for every hardworking man to be wealthy, because if everyone had enough and then some, that would be communism. Capitalism is a pyramid scheme in which a living wage is considered a privilege, not a right. For you to be rich, there has to be 100 people who aren’t, because the amount of money in existence is finite.
Short version: Very few men can be wealthy enough in this day and age to afford a stay at home tradwife + kids, but every man thinks they deserve that, and blame women for their own lack of fulfillment instead of the actual system causing it.

I'm coming at this as someone older (47) and it's wild to me because this was basically what all college bound females were told (and I certainly believed) in the mid 1990s. It is crazy that a lot of young women are not thinking that way in 2023-2024.

Did you move in the end?

When men invest a year in themselves, it’s never called selfish. It’s called investing. Don’t ever be hard on yourself for making the best choices for YOU, because any man who says otherwise is not worth listening to.

As a man, I think you should have a job. The problem is that most women get addicted to their job, and they hit 35 before they realize it. The other problem is that most women don't want to date down. They would rather date up. So, while I understand your sentiment, it's just going to go into one ear and out the other for most women.
But I've kind of given up on women, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Right now scientists are developing treatment to prolong women’s fertility since life expectancy is growing so much. This will help bridge the gap between building a career and having enough money to raise a child. Lots of women prolong getting pregnant due to lack of financial security. The window is unfortunately very narrow, most women can have children up to 45, but now live to 85+ in relativity good health. Its a difficult situation indeed. Dont give up, you never know when you’ll meet someone you’ll click with ❤

Women do not marry up. The % of women who do is extremely low. It's even lower for black women. Most women marry across.
