Jonathan- well presented a real gem… certainly clears up much of what I have previously read and watched.!
I've had another insight to your video...it pays to watch it more than once. There's a wealth of information here that may not be absorbed with one sip - like a fine wine. Thank you again for taking the time to produce such knowledge, and then to share.
You are very welcome Rick!
interested (and relieved) to see the subtle difference in rory 13:34 and dj's 14:08 left foot through impact. I see of players pushing into the ball of the foot when striking, like rory here, but i personally like a sense of getting on to the ball in transition, but then 'rolling back' onto the heel during impact, a bit more dj-like. This really drives my left shoulder up and behind me while the upper body comes around. I feel this takes strain off the knee -- directing the force through the calf and thigh muscles instead. The toes will then naturally pivot around the heel anti clockwise towards the finish. Great to hear your remarks about having your own swing. This works for me, so I'm sticking with it!
Very nice explanation, thank you very much Jonathan.
You are welcome!
A great, in depth, treatment of ground forces which will benefit our awareness of how these factors influence our golf swing. The concept of 'weight pressure' rather 'weight transfer' is a good place to start and I like your definitions of the various types of force and how we can use them. The shear forces that can be generated to initiate rotation is particularly interesting. Well done!!
I've come to really appreciate ground forces in my swing over the last 2-3 years. I've played lots of sports at a high level, and never associated the concept of ground forces and their use. I do understand it in baseball, tennis, hockey, but golf is still somewhat confusing as in a "timing" issue of those pressure shifts. You're also centered at some point during the shift of pressures as well. A discussion of sequencing also seems to be relevant here, especially as all this relates to Transition and the start of The Move. Thank you for your instruction..these in-depth videos are quite helpful and insightful and I hope that you appreciate that your videos spurn thought and discussion. In the end, I know that what you have to say is going to impact my thinking and will ultimately result in a better game for me. I've always felt it's as good to know what not to do as it is to know what to do, they work hand in hand.
How do you rationalize creating stability with perhaps creating too much tension and minimalizing of motion of motion?
Thank you Jonathan for these very good explanations but we are not Rory, so I am wondering how many weekend golfers can apply them.
Rory is a great example of what you should do which is why I use him as an example. If you don't try you will never know!
Thank you!
You are welcome
Meant “range” of motion.
I tried to cut down a wedge so I can have a short club like you but the grip is too big for the shaft. What did you do to build up the grip?
The club was a gift from Ping when my daughter was born.
Hi , I purchased the pdf but it didn't redirect me back to page. Am I able to send you a receipt via email so I can view the pdf format please?
Sorry Shannon, I will send you a link
Just an individual comment as an input. Talking about golf subjects while sitting down is a serious turn off for some reason. I haven't been able to watch your recent videos simply because of that. It feels more like a lecture than a lesson or discussion. I think it has to do with lack of visual aids and effects. The format may be fine for others. So take my comment as an individual input for your consideration. Thank you!
You’re totally right.
Sorry but we are in lockdown and all the golf courses are closed.
May I buy some pot from you?
Dude, really?
Lol
