Unfortunately, the deputy attorney is probably right that there will likely be a supreme court case regarding indoor audits. It's also unfortunate, that the supreme court is very likely to rule that government building managers are allowed to make rules regarding photography which are highly dependent on the operations that get conducted in the building. They might say that the rules must be in writing - rather than arbitrarily decided on the spot by various employees. This wouldn't be a bad case to have go forward because Phil's actions actually damage the city's case.

So what is the point of a citizen serving in the military, or even the police force, and taking an oath to the U.S constitution, if Americans like you don't care about our constitution? I’m a supervisor for AUS. Every contract is different. I train my officers very very carefully in regards to knowing property lines and what they are allowed to do. I’ve shown them videos like LIA to show them how NOT to act like a tyrant. I always tell them never put your job above your values. Being an American and upholding the constitution far far outweighs any duty assigned by your employer. I’ve done everything I can to ensure this kind of ignorant behavior never happens at my site and Thankfully it’s never happened. The little metal or embroidered badge means nothing. Respect. Do your job the right way. Get your paycheck and go home. Learn the law but most importantly learn the constitution and understand that someone who’s filming is not suspicious on its own and if anything if someone is recording it’s just more security to make sure all parties conduct themselves honestly and appropriately. I’m sorry the company I work for let you down again. Just know (and I’m sure you do) that every contract is different and these individuals (and yes there are many unfortunately) do not at all represent all of us. Keep it up LIA I love you work and it’s neeeded now more than ever.

I was a security guard in college. The client told me the only reason I was there was for insurance purposes. The last thing they wanted me to do was to do ANYTHING. I'm pretty sure Phil isn't paid enough to physically confront members of the public.
eh technically they can and are expected to physically intervene in certain critical scenarios. Many security guards are trained to use tasers, batons, and even guns.

I fill the same. When I started to watch this videos. I have a lot of good friends that are Police officers. An when you on the other hand that can do what you want. You think different. But I believe 100% in the Constitution.
Good on you for being self aware enough to not only open your mind but to admit you used to view these differently. People have to look at each situation individually - whether we're talking about police incidents or 1st amendment audits. Even though the majority of audits are done with good intention. I feel like anyone who's fully on 1 side of the other - either "All cops are bad!" or "the police are ALWAYS right!", is the problem. It's not as simple as choosing a side. Each situation calls for its own separate interpretation. The good thing about guys like L.I.A. is that he's intelligent enough to do these audits the right way. There are a lot of others who just want to make a video and end up doing more harm than good - which causes people to generalize these auditors as "all bad" the same way you may have in the past. Same way people generalize police.

I’m a security guard and would never place hands on someone walking around in a public building. Even if he was under the assumption you couldn’t go upstairs, the sole duty is to observe and report. You were not in an active commission of a felony or actively committing a crime against another that would pose a risk to the individual or building personnel. Just call the cops and let them handle it.

In this particular instance I would have allowed him entry as he does have the right due to it being public but I’d follow and just provide support if the situation warranted for it until the arrival of police. The way that interaction was going, I was kind of expecting a happier ending where Phil was held accountable for his actions. I didn't think he would actually be arrested but rather some retraining, a reprimand or something. Instead, it is a big disappointment that the story was twisted like that. I kind of hope the officer doesn't make sergeant now because he wasn't willing to do the right thing as he appeared to cower to the peer pressure of his department.

I’m a supervisor for AUS. Every contract is different. I train my officers very very carefully in regards to knowing property lines and what they are allowed to do. I’ve shown them videos like LIA to show them how NOT to act like a tyrant. I always tell them never put your job above your values. Being an American and upholding the constitution far far outweighs any duty assigned by your employer. I’ve done everything I can to ensure this kind of ignorant behavior never happens at my site and Thankfully it’s never happened. The little metal or embroidered badge means nothing. Respect. Do your job the right way. Get your paycheck and go home. Learn the law but most importantly learn the constitution and understand that someone who’s filming is not suspicious on its own and if anything if someone is recording it’s just more security to make sure all parties conduct themselves honestly and appropriately. I’m sorry the company I work for let you down again. Just know (and I’m sure you do) that every contract is different and these individuals (and yes there are many unfortunately) do not at all represent all of us. Keep it up LIA I love you work and it’s neeeded now more than ever.

I was a security guard in college. The client told me the only reason I was there was for insurance purposes. The last thing they wanted me to do was to do ANYTHING. I'm pretty sure Phil isn't paid enough to physically confront members of the public.

People have to look at each situation individually - whether we're talking about police incidents or 1st amendment audits. Even though the majority of audits are done with good intention.
I feel like anyone who's fully on 1 side of the other - either "All cops are bad!" or "the police are ALWAYS right!", is the problem. It's not as simple as choosing a side. Each situation calls for its own separate interpretation.
The good thing about guys like L.I.A. is that he's intelligent enough to do these audits the right way. There are a lot of others who just want to make a video and end up doing more harm than good - which causes people to generalize these auditors as "all bad" the same way you may have in the past. Same way people generalize police.

I’m a security guard and would never place hands on someone walking around in a public building. Even if he was under the assumption you couldn’t go upstairs, the sole duty is to observe and report. You were not in an active commission of a felony or actively committing a crime against another that would pose a risk to the individual or building personnel. Just call the cops and let them handle it.

I don't think you realize that security guards are private citizens and thus have no duty to protect you. And they have zero powers of arrest or detention either. The way that interaction was going, I was kind of expecting a happier ending where Phil was held accountable for his actions. I didn't think he would actually be arrested but rather some retraining, a reprimand or something. Instead, it is a big disappointment that the story was twisted like that. I think Phil probably has a history of not being able to hold down a job becuase of his anger management problem. His security guard job is designed for a entry level starting job for someone starting their career and not for a well past middle aged thug. Phil apparently can't get a career off the launching pad.
