Thanks for sharing your process. I've been forging feather hooks out of angle iron for a while, and got a nice new idea from this, so my future feathers will have varying depth and angles on the chisel marks. Very helpful!

"This is a blacksmithing channel, not an angle grinding channel, so..." 😂🙌

Yes it does. I got it second hande from an older guy who ran a machine shop. It looks like at some point they managed to break it in half and to fix it the drilled holes through the side of the top half and bent the bolts down into essentially a very large u bolt to hold it together. It looks like they also welded it, but I assume never got full penetration, hence the rod.

How hot does it have to be for a hot cut?
Do you sell these products? If so, where can I buy one? Is it just the Facebook link?
At the end, when you're cutting the vanes, why does it curl like that?

Since I am working on a low carbon steel here I can use the hot cut even after the steel goes completely black, it just gets slower at it gets colder. If I were working on a high carbon steel like for a knife I would need to keep it at a bright oramge for cutting.
I don't have any feathers for sale at the moment since I haven't really figured out what to put them on, but I did recently make a giant feather door handle for my wife that you can see on my facebook page.
