The Whidbey Island Farm Retreat, designed by mwworks, is a home that combines tradition, nature, and modern living. Located on a family farm on Whidbey Island, the house is thoughtfully positioned at the edge of a forested hillside, overlooking fields, barns, and a fishing pond. The design reflects the site’s agricultural heritage, blending modestly into the landscape while providing both retreat and part-time residence for a large, multi-generational family. The house consists of several volumes surrounding a central courtyard, allowing flexibility and privacy. Natural materials like local stone, weathered wood, and steel accents create a warm, rustic atmosphere, while features like carved cedar doors connect the home to the family’s history. Sustainability is prioritized throughout, with careful preservation of trees and the repurposing of materials. This retreat honors the land’s past while offering modern comfort, making it an inspiring blend of architecture, nature, and family legacy.

Well done and a comforting home. I would build a similar home in the Fort Bragg area of Northern California. It would fit in very nicely. Thanks
