Volume and gain are reversed in the clone. Clone, Gain is on the right and Volume on the left, so the settings of the pots in the video are not identical. Did the same test, the results are virtually identical. Remember, components have a tolerance, especially pots sometimes 20%. I was able to adjust both pedals so that they were practically indistinguishable in a blind test. The Clone costs only 10% of the Ray and sounds, if at all, maybe 2-3% "different". The Clone is easy to build, some experience in soldering, check components before mounting carefully.
Just on the day you uploaded the vid I built my "Der Ray". And yesterday the "Jan Ray" was in the mail - and then - buyers remorse - I came across your video...haha! With headphones the "Der Ray" is a tiny, tiny bit harsher to my ears, almost inaudible; the Jan Ray has a hair of more bottom end - these two are so close! Adding the fun of building my own pedal plus taking it on the road without being embarrassed of beating it up the "Der Ray" is the Weapon Of Choice! And I love the "Jan Ray"...P.S. - currently soldering "Der Range"....I see you uploaded a vido on that, too...
hey thanks, yes Jan ray always sounds a bit rounder but nobody would notice it in the band structure. I think that's the case with many clones, I also shot a video of KoT and KoC and it's similar that the original just sounds like a little more. P.S .: the range is a great pedal and sounds great

I don't see any reason why a cloned pedal should/could sound any different to the original. Great guitar-playing btw!
Going to build it today!
Es lohnt sich
But I think that the original got a small pot on the upper side, that the musikding doesn't have no? Could you confirm? I do love musikding ❤
@@mrloon467 the Musikding has the same trim pot and i set it on 9 o clock on vemuram and the musikding
It seems the Vemuram is the clone haha. I like more the diy!
The DIY is on my Main Board
Sounds dam great!!!!
Thank you
The original is clearer in the top end
Yes but for the price is it very good
So add top on a clone and you'll get the same
Hi Gregory, sounds great!
Did you use the standard musikding kit or did you use any special components?
Hey Thanks,
I use all standard components.
@@gregorist-gregorbrewczynsk5269 thanks! Just ordered one. Nice christmas project!
@@gregorist-gregorbrewczynsk5269 Just built it, works like a charm! Really nice pedal. What setting did you use for the internal trimpot if I may ask?
The internal poti is completely turned off
How does it compare to a Timmy? Do I need one of those owning a Timmy?
Es de ly rock?
No, this is a DIY from Musikding.de
