- This is Part 1 of a two part video series about the Brian May Treble Booster kit by Musikding.
Part 1 will cover the assembly of the Booster Kit while Part 2 will demonstrate the pedal itself.
This kit is available from www.musikding.de/The-May-Boost...
Excerpt from their website:
This treble-booster will give you the famous Brian May sound. It needs very few parts, so it is perfect for beginners.
This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal.
Not included in the kit, but also good to have:
• Aluminium enclosure: select one above
• 9V battery or DC power supply
• A nice knob for the pot
• Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling
Documentation for this kit is available here:

Part 2 will follow soon……

I enjoyed the video. Thanks much! But where's part 2? I'd like to know how it sounds before I purchase the kit.
Thanks for watching. Appreciate it. I never got around to part 2. I am pleased with it though.

Hi There ! Thanks so much for watching and the nice words ! Enjoy your kit !
HipGuitar I already ordered my kit. I got a CBC182L transistor. Will it work in Musikding kit? Thank you
@@JaviyPilar Good stuff. I have no idea if that transistor will work sorry. The kit comes with its own though.
Tnx for video. I didn't find part 2 so could not hear how it works. Are you satisfied with sound?
Part 2 please.
can we get a part 2 video on this please?
Did you ever make the second video? I just got my kit in the mail. I’m powder coating the box and building the electronics today!
Thanks for the video!
Hi there ! Thanks for watching. I am the laziest man on the Earth. I have not made the 2nd video YET.....I will say though that I am pleased with this boost pedal though. I like it ! Cheers !
HipGuitar got it built and it was acting hinky. After a little trouble shooting I rewatched your video. There it was! I turned the foot switch 90 degrees. Took it apart and reworked the switch and viola! Works like a champ! My so loves it!
@@Aikidoman06 Awesome ! Good job !
Hi, still waiting for part two of the Brian May treble booster build. I don't think anyone would mind if you didn't actually play a Brian line, but it would be helpful to hear the difference the kit makes to the guitar's sound - both clean and dirty. Cheers.
My apologies and thanks for watching. I really need to do part two it is WAY overdue. I will do a demo using a Strat, Les Paul and Home-Made Red Special.
I just put one together over the weekend. It does work well and does something very distinctive to the signal in very Brian May way. I wasn't even using a red special copy or a vox. My bridge humbucker does behave similarly to one of May's pickup settings. Ran it through a laptop amp simulator - set just on verge of overdrive and into a cheap surround sound amp ( which shouldn't have worked well ) but even with that it sounds a lot like the guitar distortion on Queen recordings. Very simple and very attractive sounding - lots of drive, rich saturation and a nice top end that sizzles and sparkles without being harsh. If we could quantify good guitar tone and divide it by the number of electronic components involved - this device would have the highest ratio imaginable. Recommend it!
Can you tell us even if it sounds good?
Still no part two?
Great video and when is part two ? Can't wait to hear the sound.
Part 2 coming soon....Thanks so much for watching....If you want I can send an mp3 example in Google drive ?
@@HipGuitar What is ´soon´ 🙂
Have you the Sound Video already Upload??
There is no part 2?
Thank you for this tutorial (it is my 2nd DIY project). Did you notice noise/low freq hum as the volume increases beyond 12:00? I just need to know wether there's something wrong with my skills or if it's part of the design. Nice treble boost otherwise. Thanx!
Hi there. I just gave mine a try..I have not noticed anything as u have described. Not sure ?
