When I weld a thumb on I keep a weed torch on it full time. Pre heat is essential. What a great shop - nice working space.

Bosses should take a page out of your style of working with others. I read a book last summer by Kelly Earnhardt (Dale Earnhardt daughter) about management of people. You work a lot like she does. Well worth your time to read. I listen to books.

Thk God for the quick coupler, first thumb I remember was pinned to the bucket pin so if a bucket change was required, have lots of fun there buds😂
Stand alone thumbs welded to the stick are 1/5 the cost and don't eat your turntable up. No bucket interference.

from what I learnt if hydraulic thumb are correctly fitted you can lift from the smallest branches to big boulder

Looks really good. I know nothing about excavators. Why does the thumb curve backwards? Seems like it would have more room if the thumb was straight or curved in like a clamshell. But maybe that is the point. To squeeze whatever you grab. Thanks for the videos.

Its good to see Kevin wearing eye and ear protection. Too many of my former coworkers developed hearing problems during their careers that partially could have been prevented. Its surprising that even prolonged exposure to noise levels of a lawn mower can lead to hearing loss.

Typically the pin that comes in the coupler is for installation in the bucket. That’s a soft pin. If you don’t pin the coupler to the machine with a hard pin, it’ll be wasted and a major pain to remove in a short while.
