I add water methanol over nitrous. Mainly because I live in Canada and water methanol is legal and easily obtained and made with windshield washer fluid and mixing a little bit of trucker brake line de ice (its 99%methanol) mix a bit to make a 50/50 mix for far cheaper than anything that's being sold for water methanol kits.
@@RundUmsGamen exactly, I know of 3 tsi mk1's, 1 mk7 R swapped mk2 and a bunch of tsi mk2's and well as 1.4tsi mk1's and some daza mk2 and 3 in the usa. Just because it isn't on Fb groups or IG or Yt doesn't mean it isn't happening. Before 2001 there were 1.8t and 5cyl 20vT swaps in mk1's with AWD. In no way am I trying to take away from what Paul and Charles are doing, because it is awesome! Just saying, it isn't a first or that uncommon.
Best thing about this series, and the other DAP/Humble series, is that we know it's going to get done. It might not work, and it could explode, but we'll get to see it brought to some form of completion. And we won't have to watch them start 6 other projects before this one is finished either. Excellent content, and thank you for staying focused and delivering what we came to see!
Thanks for purchasing/installing our radiator! Small correction, though: we're actually an American company; our corporate headquarters are located in New Castle, Delaware. (The company name comes from the name of our founder's cat, Mishi. Mishi + moto = Mishimoto.) Great video, guys!
The best videos about a swap until now and i tell you why. It's a real video showing us all the problems you can find and how you solve it. Not like those episodes on discovery turbo when they start a project and tv magic 60 min later the car is done. Congrats to you guys you make a really good team!
This is such an amazing project, built by two of the best and funniest mechanics. Seeing you two working together always makes me smile. Keep up the great content.
Driveshaftshop has been a go-to vendor for HD axles especially for a long time so its cool to see inside their facility. When there was nobody else making upgraded driveline parts to handle big power they were one of the few that existed. Very cool to see the long block fully mounted with your engine/ trans mount 'R&D,' along with the cooling package, charge piping, intake, etc. Excited to see the downpipe fab, fueling setup, etc. Great work, fellas! 😁👍
I have very little interest in Volkswagen, but I can see you all have engineering centric minds and I applauded you every step of the way on this journey.
As someone who used to repair trailers, working up in Canada and seeing how easy you took that bearing out hurt my soul. I have many, not so fond memories, of using a 3/4 impact and just hammering on the removal tool with another guy using a torch to pull those rubber bushings out of trailing arms.
This channel is quickly becoming my favorite UA-cam channel as of late. Love the humor and lack of critical thinking skills, it's a good time no doubt.
I have so much respect for you guys doing this. IDK about you guys but when I'm working on large projects I lose sleep over thinking everything, trying to figure out in my head all day what to do next and figuring out things I'm stuck on.
Great work guys! This is so interesting. You are pioneers. This makes the AEB 1.8T swap I performed in 1999 in my mkII look like child’s play. I can’t wait to see this through to the end!
Im trying not to laugh watching this but i am howling! I FEEL YOUR PAIN. When you do one off projects, the problems well yeah. I am stuck on a project myself right now. Also, everytime i work on cars with friends, this video is the summation
Just to let you know the VAQ needs steering angle yaw sensor, abs sensors to work for the torque vectoring. Im doing this swap into a mk2 and going to bin off the vaq and just get a mechanical LSD fitted. The DSG has its own internal speed sensor so it's easy to get working, the VAQ i think won't be. This may make your engine mount issues much easier.
I loved every single thing about this video! I’ve always thought of a tsi mk3 or even mk2 golf, awesome work! You answered a lot of my questions that i never asked.
Last line in the vid had me cracking up. I have a (pipe) dream of a Mk1 Scirocco with a VR6. As I'm watching this episode, I'm thinking once I win the lottery, I am looking them up for the build...
It is more challenging to use the Mk3 Golf/Jetta underpinnings, however I feel it would have been more convenient ta take a Mk4 Golf and use this for the swap. PS: I have always dreamed of this kind of experiments, keep it up.
I wouldn't feel too mad about that passenger axle fitment. I have to loosen engine mounts and jack up my engine to get stock mk3 axles on and off my mk3.
Water methanol injection is fantastic! I've been running it on my 1.8T B5 for about 2 years. And with a K04 I got about 300whp! It's also on E85 though so...
The world needs more MK3 content. I have an ALH swapped MK3 Jetta, similar issues with mounting but all the points are there for the old style mounts on the ALH block. Gotta love VW interchangeability. On that note, you should have just gone to a MK4 1.8t 02J transmission with MK3 TDI mounts lol. Bolts up to your engine and gives mounts that work. None of the fanciness of the MK7 trans but is it really necessary?
Damn, when i did my 24V 2.8 VR6 (AYL) swap into my MK3 Golf GTI, i wanted to keep the Climatronic AC system and i kept the stock radiator shroud and making it fit was a nightmare, i had to bend the aluminium AC Hoses to not hit the front Oil temp sensor and rotate the main fan so the Fan connector doesn't hit the hose that goes to the radiator from the Thermostat housing, Im glad that i was able to complete the swap 100% in house (home business, car service), that helped a lot and the total cost of the project was a joke thanks to the fact that i had all the tools and done all the work and the fabrications myself. all of that by keeping the SAI system, Carbon Canister from the MK3, MK3 ABS system and what i have now is a 24v MK3 GTI like it was built that way from factory, 0 error codes on the ecu everything working 100%.
Nice! I love these build videos. They remind me of projects I had with my buddies back in the day. It is really entertaining and keeps me smiling almost the whole time. Thanks for putting these together guys!
Just a humble suggestion, why don't you set the engine mount "cup" on the subframe back like you did for the transmission side of the subframe. That would give you the clearance you need for the heads of the driveshaft bolts. You would probably need to alter the engine mount that bolts on to the engine to bridge the gap.
12:12 No thats the right way, those DSG- clutch dumps with LaunchControl and that great Front difflock will tear this Jetta where it has never felt it before :) I hope those lower mounts hold up, I probably would have done something with the TSI´s upper engine mounts also to control the twisting forces...

haha this is crazy man. damn you are doing something insane
Fuck yes this is amazing content right here more of this ❤
I now coin the phrase "self-induced engine swap"
because everything that happens to you in the process is self-induced.
I have a question, do you know the brands skoda and seat, these brands are also VW
You guys are legendary for trying this swap. So many want to do it, you guys have the balls to attempt it. Much respect!
You could have stopped at “You guys are legendary” 🫶
Do or do not. There is no try.
There are several on the road, not everyone put's it on SMO's.
in germany, we have done it multiple times already. in mk2 golf etc. not so special ove rhere anymore. even daza's.

The windshield wiper cat was some of the finest cut-editing I've ever seen in a youtube video and I am ready for the tshirt.

Congrats to you guys you make a really good team!
I literally just finished part 1 mins ago 😂 perfect timing
Me too I never expect Part 2 so fast
😂
This is such an amazing project, built by two of the best and funniest mechanics. Seeing you two working together always makes me smile. Keep up the great content.
I’m not sure if you could consider Paul one of the “best”😂
This build series is really good.

Nothing like getting a new shop dap video on your birthday

Finally part2 🎉❤
Everybody needs a Steve when doing a car project like this one
I have so much respect for you guys doing this. IDK about you guys but when I'm working on large projects I lose sleep over thinking everything, trying to figure out in my head all day what to do next and figuring out things I'm stuck on.
The 3rd part dropped while I was asleep lets go 😁
Great work guys! This is so interesting. You are pioneers. This makes the AEB 1.8T swap I performed in 1999 in my mkII look like child’s play. I can’t wait to see this through to the end!
I hope at the end of this Chad Lindberg shows up (or any of the cast from FF). You 2 are making history and some amazing content to watch.
honestly what a duo (trio including the cameraman)
Cant wait for the finished project!
Currently living for this series 😂
I certainly enjoy the sleep deprivation sequences
Im trying not to laugh watching this but i am howling! I FEEL YOUR PAIN. When you do one off projects, the problems well yeah. I am stuck on a project myself right now. Also, everytime i work on cars with friends, this video is the summation
These two goons working together on a project like this is awesome...they be fun and actually informative at the same time.
I would be interested in more videos concerning the common issues with each of the engine types and ways to prevent the failures.
In South Africa, they doing MK1 Golfs with GTI Mk5/6 engine and DSG swaps. Love the development you guys are doing for this swop.
I love this. I’m obviously late to the party but this is so fun to watch you guys
Everybody loves swaps (im not about wifes)
Everybody loves to watch swaps and nobody likes to make swaps.
Great job! Waiting for new part!
Tbh i dont really watch your channel, but when you do a cool build like this im all onboard
I loved every single thing about this video! I’ve always thought of a tsi mk3 or even mk2 golf, awesome work! You answered a lot of my questions that i never asked.
Much respect on this swap. Although you do realize now you have to fix the rest of the car now 😂
MK3 are my favorite.
Last line in the vid had me cracking up. I have a (pipe) dream of a Mk1 Scirocco with a VR6. As I'm watching this episode, I'm thinking once I win the lottery, I am looking them up for the build...
Amazing work guys, always a pleasure watching you guys do your thing :)
ABSOLUTE VW LEGENDS! Great content.
Love to see the prototyping with the 3d printer
This is such a killer build.
It is more challenging to use the Mk3 Golf/Jetta underpinnings,
however I feel it would have been more convenient ta take a Mk4 Golf and use this for the swap.
PS: I have always dreamed of this kind of experiments, keep it up.
hilarious back and forth as always, love it
I concur with the axle snapping
HA you mention axles and correct geometery and then use FABLESS!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! DSS will be your friend
I wouldn't feel too mad about that passenger axle fitment. I have to loosen engine mounts and jack up my engine to get stock mk3 axles on and off my mk3.
Loving this series, the dynamic is great and feels so natural. More would be welcomed😎🤙
The true mark of an engine swap is whether you put in the effort to make the ac work
Holy moly the dudes dropped a 40 minute vid.
My favourite two internet clowns, this is just awesome😊🇮🇪
Now that’s an update!
I do love a custom engine swap !
That’s the way I roll, drill it grind it saw it, coat of black paint, no won will be the wiser 👍
Thanks for having me hooked up with this Telenovela 😂😂😂
Good luck with those Fabless parts... hopefully their QC actually made sure your parts aren't gonna fail like most of their stuff does.
Amazing vid. Very funny too. Well done for doing this swap.
I was just in the process of finishing the part one and part 2 dropped
This is so great!! Love crazy VW swaps.
Great work on the mods and 3D printing gentlemen!!
Water methanol injection is fantastic! I've been running it on my 1.8T B5 for about 2 years. And with a K04 I got about 300whp! It's also on E85 though so...
Damn, a lot can happen in a week. Well done gents!
I’m really enjoying this series! Can’t wait for the rest of these episodes
Wow its coming together a lot better than I thought it would. First video seemed like an exercise in self torture.

this is such awesome content. thank you guys
whatan epic series that you guys 👦 doing. Thumbs up
Saw Jessie yesterday at Icar and he brought his white Jetta and I’m a huge vw fan currently mk7 GLI
Guys you awesome, I'm watching you from Ukraine and I say hello to you👍👍👍

Im super impressed how this swap is going
Can’t wait for the next episode, supporting you guys all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦
Great job greetings from Poland
Nice! I love these build videos. They remind me of projects I had with my buddies back in the day. It is really entertaining and keeps me smiling almost the whole time. Thanks for putting these together guys!
I did not expect so much entertainment from these 2 legends ❤😊
I hit like when the cat meowed. These are my people.
Missed opportunity for a ChrisFix parody when cleaning that engine bay ;)
Good build. Can't wait to see it rip
So much fun to whatch😂😍👌 Greetings from Germany Bavaria

So much fabrication that i really like. Amazing work guys
A machine shop would come in handy.
No vi la fecha del vídeo y estaba como loco buscando la tercera parte 😂😂😂.
This is basically how someone would do it in their garage. Body saw? Naw, I have an angle grinder and cutting wheels.
Very good 👍 !!!
i love all the custom brackets.. wish i had a water jet machine in my garage.
ABSOLUTELY, LOVE YOUR CONTENT
Paul is the true angle grinder master. Is there anything he *can't* do with an angle grinder, I wonder? 😂
12:12 No thats the right way, those DSG- clutch dumps with LaunchControl and that great Front difflock will tear this Jetta where it has never felt it before :) I hope those lower mounts hold up, I probably would have done something with the TSI´s upper engine mounts also to control the twisting forces...
best series I have watched thus far, you are a hoot to watch, amazing content so much to learn.
Loving this series. Keep up the great work😁
it would be nice to post 2 episodes per week
Wow! I absolutely love this! ♥️♥️😀😀
I just discovered this channel now good luck with the build and keep up the good work 👊 all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦
This a great duo... Been following the whole process... Keep it up
Cardboard aided drawings is the best......
This is the best verion of roadkill
i used a 3/8 plate and welded it to the frame rails/bumper support.
Great Job 👍🏻 Frankenstein Engineering ❤ love it 😂
Given how much smaller the Mk3 is compared to the Mk7, this is nothing short of amazing.
Guys... Paint pens for marking black stuff, tho.
I even marked the socket sizes in my black tool set cases. Which is way neater.
there are so many custom parts in a swap like this; my mind is blown. that would suck, if any of those custom stuff would snap xD
Be there in 2 just gotta watch the end of this other video first 👌
