  • Hello and welcome to Badger Workshop. I got a new table saw a Bosch GTS 10 J. I built a stand / station around it and added the Axminster Rip Fence Upgrade.

    I live in Germany, and the Germans are a very high on precision. I've been planning setting up a workshop with my son, who is moving into a large house in the country, and has the space. It's something that I've been wanting to do my whole life, but with running sucessful business, a large family, and raising my four kids on my own, I just haven't had the time.
    Now, with my 73 years, I'm fulfilling MY dream.
    Something that I have been giving a considerable amount of consideration to, is leveling the top of my DeWalt-Tablesaw, with the top of my workbench.
    I've seen sooooo many ideas, some complicated, some not so.
    This idea is the best thing that I have seen in a long while. Now that I've seen it, I ask myself "Why didn't I think of that?". Like most genial ideas, they are so obvious/simple, that seldom that one thinks of them (see the Post-It, sticky label, or the hook-and-loop fastener, otherwise known as Velcro). I'm a perfectionist, at heart, but I do make compromises, if/when necessary.
    I send you a BIG DANKESCHÖN!

    Nice way to make the most of your jobsite saw - and, of course, it's still portable. I have very little shop space - big jobs get done in the garden - so likewise I bought a GTS10J. It's the most reliable, accurate saw I've owned. The only problem I've ever had with it is when I first clipped the Bosch folding stand to it, and the stupid, badly welded clip on the front snapped off...

    • @Badgerworkshop

    Loved how you got it to the right height, not sure about your fence trick, though? I got the same saw, but put it on the back right corner so as to be able to lift it out easier. (3x3 Custom Tamars channel for a visual of this solution) And still happy with the original fence some 4 years later. Anyways, thanks for a to the point video. Subscribed. :)

    Nice build... planning out something similar. Curious about the fence: Because the fence doesn't register off the side of the saw, but rather the table, do you ever have problems keeping the fence parallel to the blade with slight movement of the saw and bench?

  • @td8754
    @td8754 6 років тому

    Great video no BS simple informative with results.Will be doing likewise - like the combination of work station and portability. The only thing that bugs me is the you pay top dollars for a Bosch table saw - but still have to buy an upgrade for the fence !! What is going on !!

    • @steveos111
      @steveos111 5 років тому

      Whats wrong with the fence...... Did you actually try it? The fence supplied attaches and locks solid at both ends. While the after market fence is a naff t bar design and probably expensive (Axminster). I dont have this saw but am thinking of buying it so i am genuinly interested in whats wrong with the fence as people complain but dont give a reason. To me it looks nice and solid. The Dewalt system looks nice and sturdy as it uses rack and pinion but they let themselves down by making the mechanism out of plastic!

    It's been said many times already but is worth the repeat---- Great and simple idea of how to get the height correct, so simple and precise. What is the measurement of the table and would you do anything different to it now that you have been using it ?

    • @Badgerworkshop
      @Badgerworkshop  6 років тому +1
