I have this table saw and I like it. You know the yellow circle on the table top. Get a steel ruler and align it with the blade on the left hand side then draw a line onto the yellow dot. Then do the right hand side. then you have two parallel lines on the yellow circle that denote to the kerf of your blade. This is really useful when cross cutting using or cutting out rebates. Trust me and do this, you wont regret it!
I've watched dozens of table saw reviews and yours is the first to fix the flaws instead of just pointing them out. Reduced my buying-anxiety greatly. Thank you so much, subscribed.
Retired contractor here, and I bought this saw ten years ago and I love it. Lots of horse power for a small saw. I just recently welded on some casters, so now I can wheel it outside of the garage.
I’ve had this saw for about a year and I love it. It really is a good saw. Had the same problem with the sliding carriage and it was the same fix to solve. I bought the Bosch 60t Expert Wood blade and it’s made the saw even better.
Nice little review of this saw John. As an educator I am particularly pleased that you kept the guard on. I saw a negative comment below regarding kick back below, just attach an adjustable piece to the fence when ripping solid timber which as H.S.E. regs state should not go past the gullet of the blade at bench level and always use a push stick of at around 450mm long as your hand should never be closer than 300mm to the blade. That in itself will save all the money needed to buy a sawstop. I think as you say all tools will never work accurately straight out of the box and will always need a little tinkering over time. Great video keep making them as I am enjoying your journey in woodwork.
Have the same saw as an backup saw in my shop. I recommend this youtube video fo fence “fix” Bosch gts 10 xc fence fix/upgrade Worked for me. Hope you’ll be happy with this saw.
Had one and used it for several years but got fed up with its fence and inaccurate sliding mitre. Could never get the fence to lock square without adjustment every cut. Good points were it was powerful and dust collection wasn’t bad. The dewalt is the better saw and lumberjack do a pretty good one now too.
Hi John, I have the earlier version of this saw and found several UA-cam videos on how to correct the fence issue, I'll try and find them and post them here for you. I'm just in the process of building a large (1200 x 2400mm) table to house this saw to give me more table surface for larger pieces. I'm very pleased with the saw and like you have made amendments to address the 2 issues you pointed out. I think you'll be quite happy with this saw it is a nice option.
Perfect thanks for the video John. Just bought the Bosch gts 10j table saw and was also worried about the rip fence movement and potential kickback. Very helpful thank you.
Got one recently brand new and i love it! What I don't love is the unprecise adjustments of the measurements that you have to double check every time there's adjustment, which is something bosch SHOULD have accounted for in their design for such an expensive table saw!
Doesn’t a cross cut sled mitigate the issues with the fence? I agree with you that they could have picked a different fence design that is reproducible and consistently good without effort btw.
I have one of these and it is good and can be accurate. The only thing is that the dust can find its way into the base but it is easy to open up to vacuum out. It has storage for the fence and the mitre guide.
Good informative video John, iv used a good few jobsite saws through the years and always found I had to constantly adjust the setup, vibration of use just keeps letting the stops move. Where a cabinet saw/Panel saw you can basically setup once and forget about it but as you said space and price is the downside to accuracy.
A solution to the sled would be to rub on some finishing paste wax to the aluminum and plastic tracks, let it sit for a 3 or so minutes then buff or rub it off. Paste wax is a dream for long term solutions for objects that slide past each other.
I retrofit a delta t3 fence on this saw. got the fence for a great price. could rig something up to make the back of the fence lock with the front, in my experience though, front lock is beyond sufficient and super square.
I've got the Porter Cable job site saw. It's mounted on a folding stand with wheels. The fence has to be fiddled with to get square to the blade and the miter gauge isn't the best. It's loose in the t-slot and really no way to adjust it to get rid of the slop. Besides the folding stand and ease of set up on the job, I like that I can use up to a half inch dado blade with it. Most job site saws don't allow use of a dado blade.
Hey John, I've had the same saw for a few years now. Lovely powerful and quiet motor. I use and happily recommend CMT blades, I get them from a family business up in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow - called Jacksons; no affiliation whatsoever, just helpful people and relatively local. CMT also do flat tooth grooving blades that work great if you knock together a box joint jig. Well wear with the saw. Another tip, is to make a panel sled for it with a couple of Fence Dogs, aluminium profile and a parf holed sled base - takes 10 minutes to make and the parf holes make setting the fence to 90 against the saw blade super easy (and while I think of it, put the chickens foot push stick onto its clip on the side of the saw and leave it there forever - a few mins making a Heisz or Pask push stick and your digits will be much safer! :D )
Hi John, Hope your Bosch saw performs better than mine did. Had it just a year and returned it twice to Bosch. On the second ocassion they returned it wrapped in a bit of black plastic sheet which was torn to hell. I immediately requested they take it back and refund what I had paid for it. It was returned within 3 days but took them 10 days to refund the money I had paid for the saw.
I really like the film. You convinced me to buy that saw. I was considering makita because it was in my budget but I saw so many films when makita got lots of problems. I have bought your bosch and I like it. I had the problem with a loose on cross cut and had solved your way. I'm finding a fence a little bit not accurate and I will consider to build a workbench with a proper fence. But for now this bosch is good enough. I hope you will show some more films how you work on it.
Hi great showing the pros and cons I'm looking forward to your take on the cross cutting sled I would be interested in seeing how you would make zero clearance insert for different blades and cutting on this saw as I have one and I'm not sure how to make the zero clearance inserts
Excellent review. I was looking at getting this saw as I liked the cross sled for accurate cross cuts. However, what you had to do to it to get it working properly has put me off. I cannot understand why Bosch do not address these issues, it puts loads of people off for the sake of a bit more accurate manufacturing. My Bosch pbd40 bench drill has a slight chuck wobble, again easily sorted at the manufacturing stage.
In another review the presenter noted how to adjust the fence via a knob on the tail end of the fence. Also you push on the fence before latching it. This is done to align the fence before it is secured. If it is then not aligned, adjust the alignment from the knob I noted above while the fence is not locked in.
I have a Jet overhead air filter similar to yours. I found that ordering filters for it were almost $22 u.s. dollars apiece. The jet salesman told me i could order furnace filters that are 1" x 12" x 24" from Amazon for $22 for (6). Hope this helps
Nice review John currently have owned this model for approx two years now although mine is the older model with the awkward guard. Mine is mounted on a mobile folding stand which I have found extremely useful for use in my workshop, agree about the niggles but like you say once adjusted their fine, dust extraction on mine could be better as the front does seem to get covered easily, there is an additional extraction port on top of the guard which I have yet to set up, looking forward to the cross cut sled 👍👍thanks again for another great vid 😀 👍
John great videos, I've been watching a lot of Man in the Shed... I have a very small Shop/Garage ahhh more like Garage/Shop I have a Rigid work-site saw about 14 years old and some day I hope to have a Saw Stop... but that being said for Christmas I got a Bora Centipede and a Mikita Track Saw... the Track saw changes the whole dimension of working in the shop. A small saw like the Borch... small compact in the shop along with a Track-Saw meets all DIY'er needs. My oppinion of table saws... cabinet grade is changing especially in small shops. Great review of the Borch, I watch every morning 2 or 3 You-Tubes looking for tips and How-to's in woodworking you do some great videos, I really like your Track-Saw videos... what a tool, I have some cabinet work to do can't wait to really use it along with my Bora Centipede... Again great You Tubes all the best in 2023 I'll be watching!!! An American from across the pond with a lot of Irish ancestry... we came from down south in Cork/Waterford area.
What would be your recommendation in selecting saw blade TPI for hard wood and soft wood? Also, any advise for RPM of the motor? (in case of two options 2500 rpm and 5000 rpm)? Otherwise great checks and setting ideas. Thank you.
That’s a fine video sir. I really hope you will show us in the (near) future how to adjust the blade to the fence and how to fix the play in the fence.
There is a german channel 'Nachdenksport' Its in german language but he put a lot of passion in optimizing GTS 10 XC, developing parts and lot more other unbelievables.
Another great informative video as usual John. Could you please tell me what the depth and width of the mitre slot is? And are those dimensions more or less the same for all table saws of this type? Thanks 🙂
Impressive video, thanks for sharing. I'm in Ireland myself and I am looking at this saw as well as DeWalt's 7492 which seems to be priced the same. How do you feel about your choice currently? If you had the choice of two mentioned, would you still go for Bosch 10XC?
Hi mate, can you please tell what's the size of the mitre t-track of the angle gauge and rip-cut side. Looking for a board to fit my already-bought t-tracks.
It’s good to see a table saw back in your workshop Mr. McGrath. I just have two questions for ya; 1.) what kind of watch is that? And 2.) why is there a big ass clock that doesn’t work in your shop?
Hallo:) what is the size of t track? Main competitor, Dewalt dwe7492 has standart 19mm t track, so I can buy a better miter gauge, what obout that one? And how flat is the table?
Nice informative video! But I think you should've kept your old KITY 1619 tablesaw. It's a lot more robust than this one. Just got myself a 20 year old KITY and it's an amazing machine. Best of luck with your tablesaw!
You should try the dust extraction improvements from Lets Gyver. You can add a bearing at the end of the fence, it's improving the lateral movement. You will use it a lot. I have it in combination with the track saw and I don't need miter saw...
Hi, Hope all is well. I am not sure if you still have this table saw. I also have the same one. I noticed that my Mitre slot is not level with table top. Do you also have this problem? or had it?
I've got FREUD rip and crosscut blades for my DW745 - very happy with the finish they give. Good sensible explanation, I almost got the Bosch. The DeWalt fence isn't perfect either, mustn't expect too much from a jobsite saw !
Great addition to your Shop John and a fab video... I wouldn't be without my DW745, especially for making End Grain Cutting Boards. Seems like you got a bargin there.
Congrats, John! 😃 My table saw is a Stanley one, but I believe yours also has a regulation for the fence. It's in the opposite side, you turn it a bit until it gets really straight. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Can also really recommend some good push blocks! The plastic push sticks are honestly pretty shit and provide no pressure on the top to prevent it from going up on large pieces.
Hi John, very good video. I have had this model for a few years. You say you are hoping to make a sled for it, I have done for mine but had to use home made wooden runners as I couldn’t find any metal profile that would fit the slots. So I will be looking forward with interest to your sled build.
Great review. I’ve just bought the same, and love it …. Certainly a big step up from my old Titan £99 special! Re the sloppy sliding carriage…. Did you loosen any bolts before you hit it with the persuader? I need to do the same 👍
Try a Festool 260mm kapex blade mate. I use them with my Bosch. The blade that came with it was the same 254 rip blade but my GTS 10J saw actually takes 260mm, I assume your saw will be the same👍🏻😊 your saw starts and stops a lot quicker then the GTS 10J too
Nice video John. Mind your back getting it in/out of position under the workbench. I wonder could something be made up to assist with that? Kitchen fitters might know.
I'm in the market for a saw as a new woodworker. Do you still have this saw after 2 years? Still happy with it? Agonising over this or a dewalt. Cheers!
I like the cross cut part of that song it's all how much Is it I bought my rigid for $350 dollars Thank you for the review and most of the time fences offenses are always the issue do I was taught measure both sides bartonian park going out thank you 👍🏻🍻🍺🎉 How big is the blade sorry I forgot task
Chock full of good information...thanks for that. Stayed clear of table saws out of healthy fear... (band saw and miter saw and track saw can cover most power cutting needs)...but the versatility of a good table saw can make work quick and accurate...so after seeing your video, perhaps a table saw may find a place here. Maybe even the Bosch...but with Saw Stop option available will possibly go that route. Keep up the good content!
John, have you measured blade runout with a dial indicator by any chance? I am curious just how imprecise the "best of breed" jobsite saws are in that regard. Cabinet saws are said to be too far from true for joinery if blade wobble exceeds five thousandths of an inch. How far from that benchmark are these saws and can they be trued up by taking sandpaper and a grindstone to the arbor, arbor washer and nut? None of the reviews of the "best jobsite saw for woodworking" address runout, none that I've found, at least.
Hi John, thank you for your very informative videos. This one was particularly interesting as I am about to build my (retirement) workshop and I am trying to decide which table saw to go for. The Bosch 10XC is on my short list and I like the versatility it has, and the power. The concerns are around the fence accuracy. I noted that you had selected this one on the basis it was an opportunity at the time at a good price. My questions really are around; what would you have gone for as your ideal pick if this had not become available, and after near on 12 months, what do you think now about the Bosch? I am a hobbyist woodworker, and my new workshop will be 14' x 10' so relatively compact, so needing something of quality but compact and versatile.
Hi, Im also retired and space limited. This drove me to buy the Metabo. It comes with its own wheels, fold up legs and when folded takes up little room. It is very good for my hobbies needs and certainly solved my space issues. I think it is worth a look.
Hi John, great video. I have the Dewalt, just wish you could blend the two together, soft start especially. Is there a way of adding soft starts? Thanks Allan👍
Take a look at "Casual DIY", he did a vid on a soft start....I succesfully fitted one to my DW745 a great addition to the saw along with my "Flappy Paddle". Cheers Paul
Had one of these for a few years. Raised the issues ref the fence, sliding mitre and that you cannot square the table to the blade with their customers support. (Doesn’t stay squared) Appalling service from them. The older they get the sloppier they become. To call them professional is a massive stretch of the imagination. Don’t waste your money just buy a cheap one if you cannot afford a proper table saw.
That fence is acno go for me. The fence is about the number one most important part. Having the fence tilt either way is bad and having to deal with it . Had one of those and took it back after a month because of it. Think you’ll find its going to annoy you quickly
When you were doing your chopping board last week I was going to contact you and ask if you where interested in buying a brand new Dewalt table saw that I bought during lockdown. My work space is just not big enough so I’m thinking of selling it. You know what they say the “early bird catches the worm”😡
This saw has non-standard mitre slots so it's not possible to buy better quality after market mitre fences for it. I was wanting one of those rather nice ones sold by Banggood - but no go.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Standard = 19mm Bosch = 16. 8mm It's a T slot, but as you'll see, the wider part of the slot is 21mm and far too skinny to allow those corrective cam wheels to go in. I only discovered this after I bought a nice mitre fence setup from Axminster and had it delivered to me in France where I live now. They were perfectly understanding. I returned it and they recredited my bank. All rather annoying.
Nice one John been waiting for this. I've been using away at an old sheppach saw recently and its so handy. but the silent blade spin after turning off is fairly dangerous.
I wrote to Sawstop in 2018 asking if they will be able to deliver in UK. They are working on it ... 2023 .... they still do not deliver/sell in Uk or Europe.
John, I solved the problem of the fence just by adding masking tape to the aluminum front bar. I took the idea from this video ua-cam.com/video/ugjR_3P0hvs/v-deo.html. He used several layers of aluminum tape. I just used one layer of masking tape and it really works well. The fence becomes a litlle stiffer but I lubricate the masking tape with paraffine and it works well. In my opinion, another problem of the saw is the red indicator for taking measures and the lens. I think it is not so precise. I removed the lens and the indicator and replaced it with a more precise metering scale. I will post you some photos.
Oh, to set the bevel stops, you actually just losen, set you blade and lock it, then tighten the end stop, it will auto spin down and butt into the handle and tighten in place, one shot, no adjust and check BS
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Why does the fence extend past the blade? When ripping natural timber, the blade should only extend 50mm past the front of the blade. This will increase the likelihood of kick back
I have this table saw and I like it.

Glad I could help!
agreed, really nice video!

Its a good saw for its size
Was it out 10 yrs ago?
I got this saw 2 years ago and it's absolutely great. Yes as with everything you can if you want find flaws but hey you can easily work around them
I’ve had this saw for about a year and I love it. It really is a good saw. Had the same problem with the sliding carriage and it was the same fix to solve. I bought the Bosch 60t Expert Wood blade and it’s made the saw even better.
What do think about the Ryobi????
I have had this saw for 5 years, it is a great saw. Freud blades work really well unlike the supplied blade
I've seen so many complex solutions to the problems you solved with ease. Well done.
Have the same saw as an backup saw in my shop. I recommend this youtube video fo fence “fix”

Perfect thanks for the video John. Just bought the Bosch gts 10j table saw and was also worried about the rip fence movement and potential kickback. Very helpful thank you.

The slack in the sliding carriage can be removed by tightening the two rows of screws in the top of the unit. No need to whack it with a mallet!
Can't believe I never came across this channel. Unreal to see a fellow irishman doing a successful woodworking channel on here 👍🏽
Cheers James, welcome along!
Where are ya based? I'm in wexford! Just getting into the woodworking myself. Set up a workshop and all, hoping to do it full time one day
I've got that same saw that I haven't used yet, perfect timing for me. Great video as always John, thanks for sharing.
Glad to help
I've had good luck with my Bocsh GT. The reason I got it over the Dewalt was because you could use a dado stack.
Thanks for the review, I prefer the dewalt but I hate how noisy it is. I do like a lot of the features on this saw though.
Looks like a good quality unit - you seemed to have found yourself a bargain there. It has much more to it than my Triton TWX7 table saw.
First Impressions are pretty good!
legend has it, he is still talking after the video ended
As with all your videos very straightforward, informative and hugely entertaining. Best of luck with it John 👍🏼
Thanks 👍

Nice informative video! But I think you should've kept your old KITY 1619 tablesaw. It's a lot more robust than this one. Just got myself a 20 year old KITY and it's an amazing machine. Best of luck with your tablesaw!
You should try the dust extraction improvements from Lets Gyver. You can add a bearing at the end of the fence, it's improving the lateral movement. You will use it a lot. I have it in combination with the track saw and I don't need miter saw...
I will check it out thanks
Hi, Hope all is well. I am not sure if you still have this table saw. I also have the same one. I noticed that my Mitre slot is not level with table top. Do you also have this problem? or had it?
I've got FREUD rip and crosscut blades for my DW745 - very happy with the finish they give. Good sensible explanation, I almost got the Bosch. The DeWalt fence isn't perfect either, mustn't expect too much from a jobsite saw !
I might get some freud blades
Great addition to your Shop John and a fab video... I wouldn't be without my DW745, especially for making End Grain Cutting Boards. Seems like you got a bargin there.
Thanks for all the good videos you shared last year. Looking forward to next year, happy holidays
I have the same saw, not used it yet. Great info...
Thanks 👍
Have tuned the Bosch mechanism? ''Nachdenksport'' have all the solutions. Thanks for the great blade info John!
Yay ! The shed is complete ..... again ! Nice vid John
Congrats, John! 😃
My table saw is a Stanley one, but I believe yours also has a regulation for the fence.
Nothing wrong with home made hardwood runners
Great review. I’ve just bought the same, and love it …. Certainly a big step up from my old Titan £99 special!
Re the sloppy sliding carriage…. Did you loosen any bolts before you hit it with the persuader? I need to do the same 👍
Try a Festool 260mm kapex blade mate. I use them with my Bosch. The blade that came with it was the same 254 rip blade but my GTS 10J saw actually takes 260mm, I assume your saw will be the same👍🏻😊 your saw starts and stops a lot quicker then the GTS 10J too
I'll check them out thanks for the tip
Nice video John. Mind your back getting it in/out of position under the workbench. I wonder could something be made up to assist with that? Kitchen fitters might know.
Possibly
Hi thanks a lot what is the kerf thickness of the blade?
thanks for this great video... Could you please send me the details related to this Wifi ON-OFF switch?
I'm in the market for a saw as a new woodworker. Do you still have this saw after 2 years? Still happy with it? Agonising over this or a dewalt. Cheers!
I like the cross cut part of that song it's all how much Is it I bought my rigid for $350 dollars Thank you for the review and most of the time fences offenses are always the issue do I was taught measure both sides bartonian park going out thank you
👍🏻🍻🍺🎉 How big is the blade sorry I forgot task
Chock full of good information...thanks for that.
Stayed clear of table saws out of healthy fear... (band saw and miter saw and track saw can cover most power cutting needs)...but the versatility of a good table saw can make work quick and accurate...so after seeing your video, perhaps a table saw may find a place here.
Maybe even the Bosch...but with Saw Stop option available will possibly go that route.
Keep up the good content!
Glad you found it useful Andrea
John, have you measured blade runout with a dial indicator by any chance? I am curious just how imprecise the "best of breed" jobsite saws are in that regard. Cabinet saws are said to be too far from true for joinery if blade wobble exceeds five thousandths of an inch. How far from that benchmark are these saws and can they be trued up by taking sandpaper and a grindstone to the arbor, arbor washer and nut? None of the reviews of the "best jobsite saw for woodworking" address runout, none that I've found, at least.
I haven't Tim but I have done a lot of joinery on it with no issues so far. I'm getting good results with the saw I have.
Well wear John. Looks like a solid machine 👌
I like this bloke, well done mate!
That fence is acno go for me. The fence is about the number one most important part. Having the fence tilt either way is bad and having to deal with it . Had one of those and took it back after a month because of it. Think you’ll find its going to annoy you quickly
This model with the sliding table is not available in the US market either.
When you were doing your chopping board last week I was going to contact you and ask if you where interested in buying a brand new Dewalt table saw that I bought during lockdown. My work space is just not big enough so I’m thinking of selling it. You know what they say the “early bird catches the worm”😡
Just missed it, but I'm sure it will sell no problem
This saw has non-standard mitre slots so it's not possible to buy better quality after market mitre fences for it. I was wanting one of those rather nice ones sold by Banggood - but no go.
That's an issue
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed
Standard = 19mm
Bosch = 16. 8mm
It's a T slot, but as you'll see, the wider part of the slot is 21mm and far too skinny to allow those corrective cam wheels to go in.
My first impressions of this machine are pretty good.
i got one second hand also, nearby and for a great price!
Nice!
I wrote to Sawstop in 2018 asking if they will be able to deliver in UK.
They are working on it ...
2023 .... they still do not deliver/sell in Uk or Europe.
Hi John,
Are you having any issues with dust collection on this saw ?
It's not great, but it's also not the worst I have seen, table saws are always difficult when it comes to dust extraction
The fence wobble has been an issue for over 6years. When will Bosch redesign and release a newer model with a fix? Or do they not care?
Amazing review
Damn, should have been added to my Christmas list. Wonder if Santa's elves stock Bosch
Write a letter quick lol
Top video. Thanks for that
Very useful thanks.
Oh, to set the bevel stops, you actually just losen, set you blade and lock it, then tighten the end stop, it will auto spin down and butt into the handle and tighten in place, one shot, no adjust and check BS
Thanks !
HAPPY SAW HAPPY DAYS
Wood burner video coming soon?
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
How is that fence doing mate?
So far so good
Perfect
Why does the fence extend past the blade? When ripping natural timber, the blade should only extend 50mm past the front of the blade. This will increase the likelihood of kick back
Hmm not sure bout working on some sub par engineering/build
He told: Never make a Fence totally parallel and 10 Minutes later he made it totally parallel 🙈
Soon we will se the first kick back 🙈🙈🙈
