Jack Jones has died at age 86 after a two year battle with leukemia. Jack won two Grammys and has a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. Thanks for all the great music. RIP
Jack sang some great tunes in his career. I always remember this one at the top of the list. In the fifties, my Dad worked, (piece work), in a factory. He worked like a dog... My Mom, stay at home, three kids, took care of everything in the house. Always spotless and clean. I remem ber when my Dad would came home after a tough day at work, Mom, in the 50's and early 60's, would always 'freshen' herself up. Put on lipstick, fix her hair and put on a little perfume. Dad came home and she had his dinner waiting for him as soon as he came downstairs after getting out of his work duds and cleaning up... I'm sure he was not remotely aware at how she used to prim herself up for him when he arrived home. He passed at 85 . She loved him until she passed at 93... beautiful memories. RIP Jack...!

Yes very underrated, but sadly he came at the end of the crooner era, so those that had come before had already got the adulation and fame first hand ......
When I lived in the Bay Area, the feminists were complaining to the radio station in San Francisco that this song was VERY sexist towards women and to NOT play this song on-air, believe it or not! Legendary DJ Jim Dunbar disagreed and continued to play this GREAT song on his morning show. Good job, Jim! 😉😎

I don't care if this song is sexist. I was a kid during this era and it was the best of times. I'm an old beach girl from So Cal and I still love a man opening the door for me. I also like having a scotch and a good cigar. I wish we could go back to those days.
He was brilliant, I felt very underrated. Great singer, great song. Many thanks. Happy New Year 2017, take care.
Yes very underrated, but sadly he came at the end of the crooner era, so those that had come before had already got the adulation and fame first hand ......
Happy New Year 2018 !!!
you're FEMALE and you call this mysogeny "brilliant"? WFT is wrong with you?
Brina Healy It’s a product of it’s time. Most women were homemakers then, taking care of their husbands.
This is still a beautiful song.
He sure can sing..
The album Wives and lovers has a song on it called="Nina never knew" so named my Daughter after it=NINA.nearly 48 now.time flys.
Patty Ascher did a modern bossa nova version of this classic. And its absolutely, absolutely amazingly good. First heard it on Radio Bossa Nova Brazil, Sao Paulo and was awestricken. This song is truly a timeless classic, always brings back memories of that scene in Goodfellas lol.
LYRICS
Hey! Little Girl
Comb your hair, fix your makeup
Soon he will open the door
Don't think because there's a ring on your finger
You neednt try anymore
For wives should always be lovers too
Run to his arms the moment he comes home to you
I'm warning you...
Day after day
There are girls at the office
And men will always be men
Don't send him off with your hair still in curlers
You may not see him again
For wives should always be lovers too
Run to his arms the moment he comes home to you
He's almost here...
Hey! Little girl
Better wear something pretty
Something you'd wear to go to the city and
Dim all the lights, pour the wine, start the music
Time to get ready for love
Time to get ready
Time to get ready for love
Thank you!
Rings very true today as it did yesterday!
This should have been the theme song for “Mad Men”. I picture Don and Betty throughout the lyrics!
The brilliant Jack Jones. Thank you for uploading.
These lyrics: sounds like a life sentence. Amazing that anyone would think this threatening situation would equate to "love."
it is 2020. Jack Jones exudes pure class even today with this performance. Very few crooners come close to it. God bless him.
His voice is so enchanting though 😭😍
Couples usually have "THEIR" song that they carry through their lives. This still is "OUR" song after 55 years and counting. Here's to you Marilyn and thanks for sharing it with me.

Love it. I wish this was still our perspective.
A classic and very well executed song. A professional performance
March, 2020 - Just had to watch and listen to this fabulous artist.
Wow. Pure class. So dashing! So debonair!
Jack's eyes are almost twizzled on this video.
Eckstine in his prime was a powerful presence and artist ... so much jazz history in this one man
Let the haters hate, this song still holds up and harkens back to a time when Scotch was a food group.
What a hunk, and so talented as well, Positively superb
I love this song and I loved the era. I was a kid at the time, and this was a time when men were men and women were women.
It’s the horns for me especially on that second verse!!! Good Lord!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Hauntingly beautiful.
FINE PERFORMANCE...AGAIN!
I dig it!
