Hay, you got me there, I am on road bikes these days. Sure wouldn't mind trying a 450, they seam like the right combination but the thought of a 250 4 stroke does not appeal.
@Matt Fitzgerald I have a 2002 WR250F and I sit on it flat footed with my legs completely straight. I'm about 6' - 6'1". That being said the older bikes were taller. I'd say for it to be comfortable at the least around 5'9". If you could find a dealer with one it would help.
I had an 06, that was a top bike.

@javawocky never rode a new 4 stroke? they are fast as hell now...as much as i love the cr500(or any 500) i have to admit the 450 is just as fast and much more usable power so therefore much quicker
yeah like i said its up to rider opinion and i personaly love to ring the neck a 2 stroke more than a 4 stroke

in your area in my area there is like 5 total 2 strokes ik of every one has there opinion not going against 2 but i prefer 4

What's the top speed on this bike? I'm debating between it and the YZ250F, mainly for trail, field, and desert riding, and also for some street riding (I'd be getting the dual sport kit).
@philtripe ive rode the modern for 4 strokes. ive owned a crf250r and a rmz450, and personaly i feel a 2 stroke is a better bike (MUCH CHEAPER I CAN TELL YOU THAT) and i was raised on 4 strokes. if your a beginner trail rider a 250f is a beatiful bike or a hardcore agressive rider a 450f is a great bike aswell. but end of the day its personal opion and im a 2 stroke fan. Nothin like the smell of premix!
Which Yamaha would be best for a 50 year old looking to just get out on some trails. Nothing crazy like when I was younger. WR250F? WR250R? TTR 250? looking for easy riding and comfort. I don't know the differences between these bikes....any help would be greatly appreciated mic
Skip the ttr, if you're off road only wr250/450f, some on road and off road wr250r

Why can't they make it look like the wr450f or the yz250f/450f. newer plastic and stuff. if I bought a bike new, I'd get a ktm XC or yz250f for the looks.

i kno plenty of people who buy them and i said my in opion there better, for a top end on my rm250 is 120 bucks and i can do it my self, on my old rmz450 was 500 wit labor,

Hey guys im nearly 15 and i was thinking if this would be a good bike for me. I've had some experience on 125s and 150s and i wanted some more power, i am about 6 foot tall. Thanks guys

250s are same size bike just less CC get a kawi 250 they are tall and you can raise it up im 6foot tall and can barely touch on a kawi so you would be fine.
I'm 5 10, would I be able to touch the ground on this?

Wr450 is much taller than your average 450. I am 511 and I can't touch on one.

Actually you are wrong .. all people say always honda is the master ... well guess what its not sure but MAYBE!. And About KTM ohh my godness every single friend i have with ktm always complains they have the biggest maintenance from the other bikes they brake so easy.. so guess what , Yamaha is definately in the top 3.

For me 4 strokes are better. But its all in rider not in bike.
90% rider 10% bike.
So, to summarise, this is a boring heavy 4 stock with tree hugging technology which makes it worse - kick it to the curb and go find a 250 2 smoker and live a little.
2 stroke ftw.
