And "We will go to THAT PLACE". Well, he never said it was Elbaf. Even said he made a plan to not go "there", but he can't control Luffy. Well, THAT place is THIS place we are now. I was suspecting it wouldn't be straight to Elbaf because, well, Elbaf has been teased for 900+ chapters at this point, it couldn't be the place Oda "considered to not go". The thing is that readers' expectations go so high that the obvious answers are out of their sight. -------------------- Oh, and another thought: I think the "Sun God" may be actually two people in one disgused, like a kid on the shoulders of another. Why? Look at the panel where the "Sun God" is walking through a corridor going for the room's door. Isn't his arms a bit too short? And that panel is very detailed, it feels the short arms were intentional.

He mentioned: this arc repeats older arcs as reminder how much the crew changed (strenght) althou filler arc, chopper was abducted by foxpirates because he was cute fella. We seen deer gods heels, she wears highheels. Choppa is a cute, sometimes giant deer. 1+1 she doesnt "help" she's in love. I dont think oda messed up, i actually think he gives us hints but its just consufing by default, because of this arcs mystery. Also i like to think the giant king himself is just a human, using a giant fruit. Oda isnt scared of alikes. We got fire fruit, we got heat and we got lava. We got kilo and ton fruit. Why just stop there, right? I came up with this because we know the giant king is the youngest king. So what if its young because of its race. They weren't errors. Nami's Clima-Tact literally turns into a sword when it's not used, and it turns back into the Clima-Tact when she takes it out. Same for Usopp's sling shot. And it's literally *ALWAYS* consistent. So it's not a mistake. Same for Luffy not having his strawhat.

It could've been Zeus, but he'd have been right there as she woke up if it was him, and he's nowhere to be seen. 2. Nami wakes up, and her right hand is rested on her face with two black bands around it. In the very next few panels, they've switched places and are now around her left forearm instead. 3. Nami's Clima-Tact is nowhere to be seen, and it usually hangs around her waist at least. 4. The buckle on the strap around her waist goes from an oval-shaped, floral-designed one to an empty square one. 5. Nami's Clima-Tact appears from nowhere when she needs it, and when she's done using it, it disappears again, not even hanging from her waist or anything. This is a recurring pattern throughout the chapter. 6. The Straw Hats she calls out are the only ones that show up later in the chapter, hence no Chopper. 7. As soon as she calls out for Usopp, that's when she starts hearing his voice. 8. The castle is strangely proportional to our normal, human-sized MCs. 9. The window sill Nami was resting on seems to have gotten smaller. 13. Usopp just randomly appears. 14. There's no panel showing Nami pulling out her Clima-Tact from anywhere; Zeus just appears in her hands when she needs it. 15. Usopp's bag is not drawn when he and Nami look over the castle walls. 16. Usopp's bag is back. 17. There's a blackout, and it cuts to Nami and Usopp after they got knocked out of the castle. Somehow Nami is unharmed, even though she easily fell from a great height with no soft landing. 18. The big cat has now turned into a big lion for some reason. 19. Nami's sword is gone. Luffy says Gear 4th but then proceeds to shout out and use a Gear 3rd attack. Even in the raws, he still says Gear 4th. 23. There's nothing on Luffy's back. 24. Luffy's straw hat is nowhere to be seen. 25. Sanji uses the wrong leg instead of the one he initially stanced with when he was about to attack. 26. The lion turns back into a cat. Maybe it was a Devil Fruit ability? 27. Nobody seems concerned about Usopp's condition, which is odd. At least one of them, particularly Sanji, would have asked if he was alright. 28. Luffy suddenly has a sword on his back. 29. Luffy goes from having nothing on his back to having a random sword, and then suddenly an axe appears. 30. Luffy didn't have that strap or belt around his chest just a panel ago, but it's now present in the close-up. 31. Sanji, a known smoker, is not smoking, even though he's in an unfamiliar, stressful situation. 32. Sanji has no heart eyes when he's swooning over Nami. 33. Zoro's Enma hilt has four sides instead of three. 34. The sword in Zoro's mouth changes direction after his attack.
The 8 points around the sun isn't meant to tie all those sun symbols together. That's a very common Buddhist motif. The 8 gates or whatever. It represents the "8-fold path," and the 8 petals of a lotus flower.

I like the idea of the Shrink Shrink Fruit being used here because the "Sun God" combines design choices of the filler and game giants that used this fruit.
The mask that the giant is wearing is not from a deer, it's from a moose. One of many things Sweden and Norway are known for (at one point the government even declared German tourists a hazard for stealing all the road signs with moose on them).

The sun god in this chapter is basically 1 to 1 to what the Wendigo is described as in Pet Cemetery. A hundred feet tall and wearing a stag skull as a helmet to cover its horrible face. Not saying that there’s gonna be zombie animals but I doubt it’s a coincidence that Oda made them look like this while also seemingly be an exiled giant so I’m excited to see what type of wacky stuff they’re gonna be capable of

The fight that Oda was talking about between "those people" is likely Dorry and Braggi. Their fighting was put on hold, and they very well could both die (I don't want them to, but it's possible.) before resuming their battle. Thus, the unexpected ending being a legitimate draw due to a double disqualification.
To be fair, when I'm prepping a D&D session, I usually draw my dungeon map on a couple of post-its first to get a feel for the scale and relative sizes of the rooms and to figure out what gimmick should go where. Only much later do I put together encounter maps that are at a scale for the players to actually use, and they virtually never cover the entire dungeon, just individual rooms.

The fake sun god is a cosplayer and knows a lot of about the forgotten history. She also likes to create miniture landscapes and fill it with shrunken people. Twist is, she doesnt play the sun god, her cosplay is the eclipse god that covers the world in darkness. The symoble on her stick symbolises the moon infront of the sun.
I personally also live for this types of chapters and I am enjoying them like a child opening presents on christmas morning. To me it's almost depressing to think how fast one piece is moving, because it's so obvious we're heading for the end, and op has been part of my life since I was a kid. I'm still shocked about having not only met vegapunk, but even saw him perish. I remember him being such an enigma, constantly mentioned everywhere but we only had an image of his hands behind kuma. It feels like we'll blink and suddenly Luffy's gonna be in Laugh Tale discovering the One Piece. So this chapters that are so nostalgia inducing, with the og crew destroying a new location because they got hammered, fighting each other, finding new adventures, and having new mysteries (instead of constantly solving the old ones) is such a nice feeling. I'm enjoying every second of them. For me, this is One Piece at its core.
11:40 I think the big fihgt might have been Garp vs Aokiji (or vs Blackbeard Pirates) depends on how you see it. I would say both count as important characters.
The battle between 'that guy and that guy' might be Garp vs Aokiji. I dont think anyone expected it and the fallout was showcasing Coby and cementing his resolve leading up to Vegapubk's message. A very unexpected chain of events.
talking about nika as a god of liberation that visited every culture makes me think of God of War's depiction of Tyr, the god of war who fought for peace and was a giant. Also, I'm not aware if it's just in the game or if the actual mythology also works this way, but the giants aren't all "giant". Giant is just the name of the race and some people from that race also happen to be massive, but some are human-sized. I would love to see that in One Piece
This talk about the sun god potentially rescuing stranded humans has me thinking. What if the sunny is damaged? It’s made with exceptionally rare materials, and who knows if there’s ANY Adam wood left? Maybe cranky is gonna have to get his hands on some of that world tree timber, fixing the sunny and providing the crews last big ship upgrade for the final saga.

I will note the Sun god person looks a lot like common depictions of druids. Maybe the giant actually uses a plant based medicine to shrink the Straw Hats and others. It could even be that the tree is the plant used and it is the constant exposure that keeps people small.
The "it seems slow because we're stablishing the arc and paling around" argument would be fine if the panels weren't going at breakneck speed and the strawhats were actually socializing. I miss the time when Usopp and Luffy were imitating Sanji on Skypea.
I have a feeling that yhe "unexpected fight" is going to be between Garland and BB. With all the hints about BB possibly attacking marijoa, and Garland being a new Elder Star, I could very much see Garland and the holy knights killing BB. It will be a display of Garland's power snd combat prowess. Especially with BB and Buggy being the only two yonko who arent confirmed conquer haki users, and with Garland likely being at least on the same Haki level as shanks. BB will likely be the first of the fonal contenders to be killed off and will be used to show Garland's strength.
Very accurate that fans are liking the opening of arcs less and less because we simply get less chapters per year every year as time goes on. Makes people just want to get to the story so they can theorize and predict how the beats of the arc moving forward play out. But because this is Oda's only time to really relax and just draw for a few chapters, it makes things feel dragged out because there usually isn't a lot of foreshadowing for future events in these types of chapters. But that's not to say that there isn't a good portion of fans who absolutely love this part of the series and they only ever really get to experience this in one piece once every few years now.
Do you think that the “sun god” saw chopper and thought “oh this is an animal, I shouldn’t put him in the model, because he should be a new rabid guardian?” Most people in one piece do think that Chopper is the straw hat’s pet.
Watch "that character and that character" be Dorry and Broggy, with the unexpected result being "yeh, our battle is on hold, but we're still beating the shit out of each others during our breaks".
Okay consider the possibility that the battle Oda foreshadowed the outcome of was Dorry and Broggy. While it would be kinda anticlimactic that he was referring to them returning to elbaf to get new weapons, I think it could mean that they might get back to fighting on Elbaf soon
Maybe the fight between ”that person” and “that person” is the result of the fight between dorry and broggy. I don’t think anyone expected the result to be “their weapons broke so they came to elbaf to replace them.”

I'm part of the people a little bored with arc beginnings. Pro tip: wait until like 4-5 chapters come out and read them at once in the beginning. It makes the beginning feel more exciting and full imo, then go back to weekly when we're in full swing.
Every saturday when i wake up to watch the newest episode of the anime and its just a member berries episode i scream. My neighbors must be doing the same thing cause they start banging on the walls.
Gotta be honest, even after re-reading the chapter and paying closer attention to Luffy in his Nika form, I still found it hard to tell that his clothes stayed the same. Hopefully this becomes more obvious in the anime. Also, I totally didn't realize how odd it was for Nami to find a map of "LEGO Land" Elbaf that's human scale. Then again, it's not suspicious, it's just kind of a clunky way of the Straw Hat Crew obtaining a map.
This stag god looking character is the second time I have predicted/wished for something and its happened. Before I seen marco I wanted a blue pheonix and eventually got that heal flames and all. My version had a drawback where if he used heal too much he would age burn up and become an egg. Did not know about egg egg fruit at the time
Not to be that guy, but when Oda drew the door next to the Giant walking to it, he drew the diagonal brace (don't know if its the right word in english. Translated from german) of the door on the wrong side "Z". To do it right you start from the free hanging side and end on the mounted side. So a reverse "Z" when talking about this chapter.

Keeping with the RPG theme and looking at the villagers, they're NPCs, but instead of being non-player characters, they're more like non-freedom characters. They lack the knowledge of their situation and the freedom to make any decisions or actions to break out of their roles. NPCs could be a good idea to explore in some broader aspect with a concept like that. Not having any freedom to break the bonds they were coded into, or born into.
Nah I remember rogerbase harping on and on about how much time oda was wasting exploring at the start of Wholecake because there were no major fights. Some OP fans still haven't learned to be patient over 1000 chapters into the story

I think the vocal group of fans that get upset about the early chapters each arc are probably people who caught up to the series during the previous arc. They're not as used to the set up because they just spent x amount of time binge watching/reading the entire thing.
I dont sympathise at all because these chapters in every arc are the best. Especially after everything that happened during Egghead, this is much needed right now.
It was kind of unexpected that Blackbeard defeated Law so easily. Less unexpected that Shanks works defeat Kidd, but that he was so totally defeated by a single attack.
How cool would it be if Luffy, Garp and Dragon fight Imu, while Zoro and Shanks fight Figarland Garling with a surprise entry of Mihawk to fight him as well? Like, that’s the final showdown and their power is so overwhelming it takes all of them just to take those 2 down while Sanji, Benn Beckman, Marco and Sabo take on the remaining Elder Stars. I know it would be kind of corny but so epic too

I like the idea of the Shrink Shrink Fruit being used here because the "Sun God" combines design choices of the filler and game giants that used this fruit.
The mask that the giant is wearing is not from a deer, it's from a moose. One of many things Sweden and Norway are known for (at one point the government even declared German tourists a hazard for stealing all the road signs with moose on them).

The sun god in this chapter is basically 1 to 1 to what the Wendigo is described as in Pet Cemetery. A hundred feet tall and wearing a stag skull as a helmet to cover its horrible face. Not saying that there’s gonna be zombie animals but I doubt it’s a coincidence that Oda made them look like this while also seemingly be an exiled giant so I’m excited to see what type of wacky stuff they’re gonna be capable of

Their fighting was put on hold, and they very well could both die (I don't want them to, but it's possible.) before resuming their battle. Thus, the unexpected ending being a legitimate draw due to a double disqualification.

To be fair, when I'm prepping a D&D session, I usually draw my dungeon map on a couple of post-its first to get a feel for the scale and relative sizes of the rooms and to figure out what gimmick should go where. Only much later do I put together encounter maps that are at a scale for the players to actually use, and they virtually never cover the entire dungeon, just individual rooms.

The fake sun god is a cosplayer and knows a lot of about the forgotten history. She also likes to create miniture landscapes and fill it with shrunken people.
Twist is, she doesnt play the sun god, her cosplay is the eclipse god that covers the world in darkness. The symoble on her stick symbolises the moon infront of the sun.
I think it's just Road the Giant, Stansen is why the Sunny disappeared too.

I personally also live for this types of chapters and I am enjoying them like a child opening presents on christmas morning.
To me it's almost depressing to think how fast one piece is moving, because it's so obvious we're heading for the end, and op has been part of my life since I was a kid. I'm still shocked about having not only met vegapunk, but even saw him perish. I remember him being such an enigma, constantly mentioned everywhere but we only had an image of his hands behind kuma. It feels like we'll blink and suddenly Luffy's gonna be in Laugh Tale discovering the One Piece.
So this chapters that are so nostalgia inducing, with the og crew destroying a new location because they got hammered, fighting each other, finding new adventures, and having new mysteries (instead of constantly solving the old ones) is such a nice feeling. I'm enjoying every second of them. For me, this is One Piece at its core.

Also, I'm not aware if it's just in the game or if the actual mythology also works this way, but the giants aren't all "giant". Giant is just the name of the race and some people from that race also happen to be massive, but some are human-sized. I would love to see that in One Piece
This talk about the sun god potentially rescuing stranded humans has me thinking. What if the sunny is damaged? It’s made with exceptionally rare materials, and who knows if there’s ANY Adam wood left? Maybe cranky is gonna have to get his hands on some of that world tree timber, fixing the sunny and providing the crews last big ship upgrade for the final saga.

I will note the Sun god person looks a lot like common depictions of druids. Maybe the giant actually uses a plant based medicine to shrink the Straw Hats and others. It could even be that the tree is the plant used and it is the constant exposure that keeps people small.

I have a feeling that yhe "unexpected fight" is going to be between Garland and BB. With all the hints about BB possibly attacking marijoa, and Garland being a new Elder Star, I could very much see Garland and the holy knights killing BB. It will be a display of Garland's power snd combat prowess. Especially with BB and Buggy being the only two yonko who arent confirmed conquer haki users, and with Garland likely being at least on the same Haki level as shanks. BB will likely be the first of the fonal contenders to be killed off and will be used to show Garland's strength.
Very accurate that fans are liking the opening of arcs less and less because we simply get less chapters per year every year as time goes on. Makes people just want to get to the story so they can theorize and predict how the beats of the arc moving forward play out. But because this is Oda's only time to really relax and just draw for a few chapters, it makes things feel dragged out because there usually isn't a lot of foreshadowing for future events in these types of chapters.
But that's not to say that there isn't a good portion of fans who absolutely love this part of the series and they only ever really get to experience this in one piece once every few years now.

I'm part of the people a little bored with arc beginnings. Pro tip: wait until like 4-5 chapters come out and read them at once in the beginning. It makes the beginning feel more exciting and full imo, then go back to weekly when we're in full swing.

Gotta be honest, even after re-reading the chapter and paying closer attention to Luffy in his Nika form, I still found it hard to tell that his clothes stayed the same. Hopefully this becomes more obvious in the anime.

This stag god looking character is the second time I have predicted/wished for something and its happened. Before I seen marco I wanted a blue pheonix and eventually got that heal flames and all. My version had a drawback where if he used heal too much he would age burn up and become an egg. Did not know about egg egg fruit at the time

Translated from german) of the door on the wrong side "Z". To do it right you start from the free hanging side and end on the mounted side. So a reverse "Z" when talking about this chapter.

Keeping with the RPG theme and looking at the villagers, they're NPCs, but instead of being non-player characters, they're more like non-freedom characters. They lack the knowledge of their situation and the freedom to make any decisions or actions to break out of their roles. NPCs could be a good idea to explore in some broader aspect with a concept like that. Not having any freedom to break the bonds they were coded into, or born into.

I think the vocal group of fans that get upset about the early chapters each arc are probably people who caught up to the series during the previous arc. They're not as used to the set up because they just spent x amount of time binge watching/reading the entire thing.

It was kind of unexpected that Blackbeard defeated Law so easily. Less unexpected that Shanks works defeat Kidd, but that he was so totally defeated by a single attack.
The beginning of was the best I was always excited to see vaga punk, bony, kuma and CP0.
How cool would it be if Luffy, Garp and Dragon fight Imu, while Zoro and Shanks fight Figarland Garling with a surprise entry of Mihawk to fight him as well?
