sweet content, I've never even seen a Mitas tire. Not a lot of youtube content either, your an early adopter, congrats. looks like they have a full line up of tires, can't wait for more content. 74 hours, yes you have my attention. I like the 505, except when you find mud, lol, and have tried some gummy motoz, and ve33s, but would love a longer lasting utah rocky single track tire!!! Thanks for the video, I think you'll sell some tires.
Hey Chris do you know if the 454 has a 2 or 3 ply sidewall? I run Tubliss. Was it James from Inside Enduro in Belgrade MT you were referring to? Thanks.
at the time I was running the tusk recon front which is huge and seemed good for the hard enduro bit.ly/2Uz8OjU recently I've been experimenting with the mitas fronts because you can get them in different sizes and different rubber harnesses like green and yellow. still figuring out what I like for what terrain though bit.ly/2VPX8wB
I routinely get 50+ hrs out the mitas ef07 and 754xt. Extremely good tires. Weird they are hard to find in the US, my local shop has them on the shelf here in BC Canada
nice! which stripe EF07 do you run the double green or single? Yeah I'm told they're easy to get in canada as well, I think this year well see them blow up based on how well they work
Thanks for the review I’ll have to give that tire a try after my VE33S wears out it has nearly 20hrs but is starting to chunk out. Did you ever get your GasGas fixed??
Yeah I had similar problems with other tires chunking but this one has a rally nice rubber compound. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes for you. I did get it running, had a deadline for the silver mountain race which was only a few weeks! I filmed a bunch but as usual havent found the time to edit
How many tires will a moose last? And what size was the moose that you put into the 110? Thank you for all your stuff!!! Keep it coming. See you at the hammers this year!!!
I put the gummy 754 on mine expecting it fall apart after one 4hr race. 20hrs later and still loads of life left on it. Used the mitas mousse with it. I used to use the red stripe 754 and was only useful in the mud. The green has been good pretty much everywhere I've used it.
Haha I was the same way first Mitas, expecting it to die then it just kept going. What kind of terrain are you using that in? the 754 is only a single green so its more on the hybrid gummy side where this XT454 is offered in a double green which is even softer, its a really nice grip
@@TrailBoundco ah yeah. You're right. I had used the hard red before and it didn't do well. It didn't like rocks and hardpack and tore up easily. I've used the single green pretty much everywhere except rocks, need to go to Wales for that. Deep winter uk mud, grit, roots, hardpack.
Uk rider here, we love mitas tyre. They don't seem to Chuck like you said. Ef-07 soft not super soft for Rocky condition and wet muddy sand try the 754 guarantee you will be impressed it will last over 100hrs 😂
which EF though, you might be talking about the single green stripe. then EF07 double green that I had on was crazy sticky for wet terrain! the 754 does seem like it lasts longer though but I like the grip of the 454 have you tried that one?
@@TrailBoundco I have a spare back wheel setup. Both with the plushie nitro mousse. The one with the Ve33s has an older mousse (and the tire had maybe 12 hours on it) and the one with the 454 had a brand new mousse in it......maybe that was why.
@@TrailBoundco very good out of the box. Haven't tried their Extreme mousse yet but the soft fill the tyre carcass nicely and lifespan has been very good considering! Michelin bibs are a level up but Michelin don't offer options.
I ran one of these last year, great tyre, but I found the carcass to be far too soft for use with Tubliss. I found the tyre and sidewall would roll around under the rim when going across the sides of hills, as well as hitting any rock/logs on an angle (this is at pressures ranging from 8psi to 4psi). Would be great with mousse though!
I ride a KTM 500 that eats tires, but the Terra Force EH 120/80-18 (Dbl green) last me at least 50 hour. In South Africa Mitas is the only tire for Hard Enduro. Did the Roof of Africa( Bronze) all 3 days with one tire. You can get it in a 140/80-18.
nice! yeah I had the 140 double green eh its a monster in the wet rivers! 50 hours sounds like a super long time for how soft that tire is. I bet you could more than double that time on the XT454, give it a shot next run and let me know
ef 07 single green seems to be best all round tire for extreme enduro. it still grips even without knobs because of big volume. double green is only for racing extreme enduro.
It’s a good one, I gear canada riders are big on 754 but I think this 454 is way better. I ship to canada all the time If you email me your address I can let you know shipping cost if you wanted to try one
Little more popular on the easy coast maybe. We have a local Ktm dealer that carries them here in northeast Ohio. I’ve yet to try them but they are in my list to try in the near future.
have they carried them for awhile or just recently? east coast seems pretty slickery so maybe they saw the Romaniacs guys running them and imported them. I think this tire and the even gummier EH07 double green would be good for those mossy creek beds
@@TrailBoundco up till seeing them at the local dealer I’d only seen them on UA-cam and various Facebook tire posts. I’m eager to try them. All the locals that run them absolutely love them.
I briefly mention that tire in the video. the EF/EH double green is ultra soft, low knobs, bigger size and is a monster for wet slippery terrain. this tire also works great in slippery terrain but not quite as well. it is soft but because the knobs are bigger and taller they are a little stiffer so they hold up much longer in drier conditions. its my unicorn tire for all around riding. EF/EH comes out for wet river hard enduros tho!
no they are the opposite of Chinese brand or Chinese made tires. the rubber is very high quality and the company been around for a super long time. they're made in Czech Republic. yeah a lot of the europeans run these I think well see them in the US a lot more in the coming years
mitas is a Czech company. its name comes from the first syllable of michelin and the last syllable of veritas the tires manufactured were previously known as Barum. the factories are therefore European
So if you rode every day for 8 hours a day it would last 9-10 days that dont sound like a good tire to me, back in my day in the 80s it would last a year of hard riding or longer if its just trail riding
I kinda doubt your moving time would really be 8 hours in a day. Once you ride softer tires you will understand how worth it they are. You can ride up some nasty stuff. They make them even softer than this but they wear out to fast

I found the same when I ran the tire, a little more expensive than your average tire but it does last much longer!
Awesome tires. What are you running up front lately
I loved my Mitas XT-454 in Utah and Idaho all last week!
love the traction!

I use to race Karts professionally and we used these a ton. They were know for traction and durability
yeah I hear mitas is pretty big outside of moto too
How many tires will a moose last? And what size was the moose that you put into the 110? Thank you for all your stuff!!! Keep it coming. See you at the hammers this year!!!
they seem to go for like a year, but I run them really flat so if you like harder pressure might not last as long?
How’s this compared to the IRC JX8 GEKKOTA GUMMY TIRE?

Love the tire, grips fantastic. It does measure 1/4" slimmer than the same (110/100-18) size VE33s..... I do wish they made a wider size.
How did you measure that? Since I use a soft bib it actually flattens out pretty wide but would be cool to have a wider option

You should try a xt754 single green next 😉
Try running a Mitas 140 Soft mousse and Michelin Medium 140 combination. It will blow your mind.
How are the mitas bibs? I haven’t tried those yet
@@TrailBoundco very good out of the box. Haven't tried their Extreme mousse yet but the soft fill the tyre carcass nicely and lifespan has been very good considering! Michelin bibs are a level up but Michelin don't offer options.

yeah its super strange they dont have a big brand presence here yet but I think that will be charing. the rubber is top notch
Isn't that the tire the trelleborg studded tires use
they offer this xt454 in a white stripe that has little spots for the studs, or you can buy it with the studs.
Fun fact: a 140 is actually a 120. Some manufactures just measure width from knob to knob and most manufactures measure in between the knobs.
