About 25 years ago while attending a seminar with DH (it was for his work), I sat with a bunch of paper and a ruler and designed a bunch of quilt blocks very similar to this but never got around to actually making them because of the problem with the excess fabric in the corner. My plan was to make them with all solids due to the Amish influence in the area where DH grew up. I think you just solved my problem and I will be making another quilt soon.
That's Awesome❣️ Happy Quilting❣️
What delightful secondary patterns this block makes❣️ THANK YOU so much for sharing it. I'm not sure when but I definitely want to make it.
Beautiful Tracy! Wonderful video
Beautiful block Tracy, just looks complicated when you do the first block but actually straight forward. May I suggest if you do another one that when you put in the small bottom corner piece that you cut away the muslin and ends of block but leave both layers of you accent piece. You have a double layer with the rest of the block and this will give you the same at the bottom. Instead of a single layer , you have the same strength all the way around.
Sewing this using the freezer paper method, measuring one block and stitching through a stack of freezer paper would speed this process up significantly! I only use the freezer paper method, did one on paper and decided I’d never rip out paper again, lol.
This is a beautiful quilt thank you so much for the pattern and thanks for walking us through it. You are a great teacher.
I could watch you all day, you are such a joy. thank you.
Me too!!!!!!!
I LOVE this quilt. Just a reminder: once starch is applied do not use steam when pressing. The steam dissipates the starch. Thank you for sharing.
It is truly a kaleidoscope! I can't decide which layout I like the best! They are all amazing!
They're all breathtaking! I love them all!💕🌹🦋
Amazingly creative quilt. Appreciate how you turned the units of the blocks to give 3 different looks to use in that quilt design. ❤ it!
Regardless of how long you have been quilting(me, I have been quilting for about 30 years) you can always learn a new trick, thank you for a new idea and for a very good step by step instruction video. I am now today a jew subscriber. Hope you hit you goal.
Amazing! You have hit this one out of the park! All 3 layouts are gorgeous! I can’t pick a favorite! Thank you for sharing your pattern.
Yay❣ I'm so glad you love it❣
This nice lady needs more subscribers, she gets enough and it will help defray the costs of making the videos! Really enjoyed the tutorial!!! As soon as I have time to breathe I want to try one! Thank you!
You knocked it out of the park on this one! Congrats on a great looking block with room for variety. Thanks for sharing it with the quilt family.
My pleasure❣️ Thanks for supporting my channel...I appreciate it so much❤️
This block is very pretty and reminds me a little of art deco style especially when on point. Glad you are feeling better.😊
I love all three layouts! My question is, are you going to have a company print out this quilt block onto a stabilizer so we could buy it? Would be so much easier than having marked every single block before sewing them! I would buy them!!! Thinking about taking one block to a printer to have copies made up for me!
That’s a great idea!
Loved this. My preferred layouts are 2 and 3. Can't decide between them. I agree it could be a show stopper.
This kaleidoscope quilt is absolutely beautiful thank you Tracy for this tutorial
Stunning pattern. You did a fantastic job explaining how you made the block. Number 1 I think is my favorite 😍. But all of them were cool. Thank you
Love it a table runner would look lovely in that pattern
Love the different ways to put it together ❤
Stunning! Love the ombre fabric, it adds so much dimension to the block/quilt.
Oh my gosh - what an amazing block! I love all the layouts so I’m not gonna pick one - they all are winners! You are so soothing to listen to and learn from.
Gorgeous block. I loved all of the layouts of it! You are a great teacher. Great tutorial! 💕
Thank you so much Cassie❣️
I absolutely love this block! All three patterns are gorgeous, however I like the last setting the best. Thank you for the video, it’s very informative!
Just sine info.
This is the original foundation piecing. The technique has been used for several hundred years to make different patterns. Paper piecing is much more recent, mostly since home computer printers.
There are lots of things you can also use as leave-in foundations. Lots of fun blocks
Замечательный блок и классные варианты. Спасибо.
Alright!! Here I go again with this fantastic pattern! Thx so very much for the variety of suggestions!
Love this tutorial, I do tend to catch your tutorial’s after the fact but I have to say I am excited to make not one but a few of them and change the directions as you showed at the end… WOW… all layouts are stunning
I love, love, love this. I cannot say which layout I like best...I loved them all.
Beautiful beyond words. I love paper piecing
I am in awe of the beauty of the kaleidoscope block!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you, Tracy. I'm glad you are feeling better! I always enjoy your videos and so appreciate your clear instructions. This is a beautiful block! Take care. Have a great day! ❤😊
Thank you for such kind feedback❤️ I'm happy to be feeling better too🙃
Beautiful. That fabric really helps with the effect as well.
It's been years since I've made any kind of quilt because of limited space. Well, I'm in a new house and now have room. I'm currently working on a quilt for my daughter. I came across your video on how to make a kaleidoscope share. I've seen them before and wanted to always make one. Thank you so much for posting this video. This is going to be my next project. My husband even really liked it. I love it ❤. Thanks again.
I love both the first and the second ones the best. Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks so much 😊❣️
I can’t wait to try this block!!!!
Spectacular block! Your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much! I can't wait to make this quilt!
Thank you for the kind feedback Jeanne. I appreciate it so much❤️
Ms. Tracy, this is fantastic! I will make templates and do a scrappy version, most likely. I cant wait to get started! Thank you for your patient and clear instructions, and your hard work to share this with others ❤
Awe Thank you Sara❣️ I hope you make it🎉
👍🌹 Очень красивый блок! Супер! Спасибо.🌸
I'm so excited to make this quilt. I loved all the layouts. The hard part will be choosing.
What a great teacher you are. You do make it look easy, step by step.
Tracy, this is such a beautiful block! So creative! I love all of the layouts that you showed it could make! I have never done FPP (which I think this might be like), but I’m going to have to give this one a try. I especially like those quilts where moving the blocks around makes different designs so I may have to make several. 😊 Thank you for sharing this with us! 💕
Love love love the block. It’s like foundation paper piecing with fabric!
YES!!!❤️
Thanks for the pattern, enjoyed watching, I liked all versions.
Very pretty pattern! It feels sort of modern & contemporary, yet still traditional. I liked the first layout best. Thank you for sharing this idea.
Wow what a different quilt block! Beautiful! Another hit!
Thank you so much❣️
Gorgeous!!! Can't decide which layout I like best; they are all stunning. Thank you for this great video.
WOWZA! 😳🎉😳 I LOVE ALL 3 LAYOUTS of this ABSOLUTELY AMAZING QUILT TOP! I can’t believe how many different designs you can actually achieve with this one block! Fantastic job! 🥰❤️😘🎉
Tracy, I love this block. Thank you.
Love all the layouts, Tracy! Thank you for doing the work to figure this one out!!
You're welcome❣️🎉
Tracy, I enjoy your tutorials so much. You give great tips and tricks to your quilting projects.
I can't wait to piece this quilt.
Brilliant block Thank you Tracey it's going to make a wonderful quilt Thank you for sharing with us xx
Loved the last one!
I think this is the fifth time I've watched this. I have a cold, and your soothing voice put me to sleep partway through. I started this time (5:30 am) about 10 minutes in and finally watched it all. This is so complex, but I can see how it would become easier after a few blocks. Lots of prep work with drawing all the lines!
Happy to help❣️ LOL😂
Bless you Tracy for doing this block. I've had a long day, it isn't sinky in. 😂 Perhaps another day. Beautiful block for sure 😊.
Thank you Susan❣️ Have a great day❣️
Thanks for this beautiful pattern! I also loved ALL of the layouts!
Tracy, you make this look so easy I was like oh that’s too much and then you said make one a day! I always want to make something too quick but this one will be worth taking my time with. Thank you so much for such a great tutorial! Hope you are all well soon! I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. I love all your tutorials.
They're all beautiful
You’re Absolutely AMAZING! Can’t wait to try this!!
I am blown away! I have waited many years for this block. I have fabric reserved for my sister and now I can make her quilt.
I will watch this a few times before I try it but I DO want to try. In fact I have some beautiful Ombré fabric I want to use. I can’t decide which layout I like the best because they’re all gorgeous! Thank you Tracy and I’m glad you’re feeling better!
I can't wait for you to try it...it's so much fun🎉 I do think Ombre' fabric is perfect for this block❣
Tracy, I think this is amazing. I guess I'll have to try it and find out what colors I like. Thank you for your tutorials!
Absolutely beautiful! Great tutorial! I’m dizzy!
This is such a gorgeous block. The quilt is so unique. I absolutely love it. Thanks for the tutorial!
Tracy, the one you have pictured on the main page is my favorite. Beautiful quilt! Good job 🎉
Love this pattern! I can't wait to try it. Thank you for the detailed tutorial.
What a great idea. You out did yourself. Thanks Tracy.
Thank you so much for your support Peggy❤️
Hey Tracy! WOW! You really outdid yourself with this quilt block tutorial. Makes an amazing quilt pattern regardless which layout you choose. Can't say I have a favorite. The last 2 layouts are really cool. So very, very happy to see that you'll be breaking the 150K subscriber mark within the next day or so. Not sure when I subscribed to your channel, but I believe it was in 2020. Congrats in advance! By the time I hit the "comment" button to post this, you'll probably already be at 150K. Woo-hoo!!! 🎈🎈🥳🍾🎉💃🏻🎊 Hugs to you! 🥰 Dori
Thank you Dori❣️ I love all the layouts.....seems no matter which way the blocks are turned that something new emerges❤️ This is an exciting block for sure❣️Happy New Year Friend🎉
I have just found your channel. I am amazed how clear and easy you have made this tutorial. Thank you so much. Will look forward to looking at your past projects. I live in Australia and it is summer so in the really hot days i can sit in the air-conditioning and sew.
What a beautiful quilt block. The ombre fabric makes it pop!.Hoping you, Tracie, are Taking care, too!!! You sure do a great class. I love your "It doesn't matter" approach. We're doing these quilts for ourselves or people who are just thrilled to receive a quilt and haven't a clue if we messed up someplace along the line. That's how life is. God bless you. My computer says you're at 152K. Congratulations. (maybe that's views?) All of the patterns were gorgeous. Maybe the last one was my favorite.
Thank you so much!!! That is absolutely gorgeous! I'm new to quilting and can't wait to do this!!
Absolutely amazing Tracey! This has got to be your best quilt yet and I already totally love everything you do. You’ve really inspired me to give it a go. I think you’re right - one block a day and take your time x
Great tutorial clear instructions. Thank you can’t wait to make this quilt!
WOW! Thank you so much for the pattern! Stunning! 😘
Beautiful, Tracy! The fabric is absolutely gorgeous, as well!
Thank you❤️ I agree...the fabric really makes it shine❣️
This looks like a fun block. I can’t wait to try it out.
I have made two blocks so far so easy thank you so much
Wow, it is amazing! Loved all the different ways to assemble it and the variety of looks!
Beautiful square and the quilt will be just marvelous !! Can’t wait to see the end results !!!🥰
Thank you Becky❤️
Thank you! That looks like a lot of fun! It’s beautiful!
Such a beautiful block! Thank you.
I am in love with this quilt and all the variations too! Your instructions were easy to follow as well. I can’t wait to try this. I’ll update my comments after I make it. I’m so excited to begin!
Love this video! I have always wanted to do a paper piecing type of block and you’ve made it easy either way this one
I really like this method because you can apply it to any size block with out having to figure out fractions of measurements. My oldest granddaughter is getting married in June and this block is tempting me to make them a Christmas quilt!
Oh yeah, this block is awesome. Love the idea of the hombre fabric. It's almost like a QAYG block.
Thank you Katielin❣️
Oh my!! THIS has me excited to try as my first ever quilt top!! ❤
Love your pattern and instructions. Thank you and glad you are feeling better ❤
Thank you Joyc❣️
This is absolutely a very beautiful quilt block with many options. Thank you so much for sharing and showing how to make it.
I cant wait to make this block!! looks great!
Magnificent! I see this also as a marvelous 'mini' ❣ I enjoy your techniques and creative results. Wishing you and all your subscribers/makers a blessed 2024 and beyond! 💖
What a stunning design!! Thank You!
Thank you Jenn❣️
I am doing a paper piece kaleidoscope quilt right now smaller blocks, but the same idea. All scrappy, and I never thought of turning the blocks. Really like the third layout!!
Tracy I loved the first and the last one is my favorite . ❤
Love this pattern Tracy!👍 Easy to follow. Its a awesome contemporary pattern too.😉
This is so cool! I like how you take time while explaining it. It helps people like me to follow. I find some people rush through instructions so that they’ve moved on before I’ve got the first idea set in my mind. 😂
Wow. Using ombre fabric for this is a brilliant idea! I like the first pattern best - it really works with the ombre - but the others are interesting too. If I make this quilt I'll have to think long and hard before I sew the blocks into a quilt top.
Yes...I agree...the ombre fabric really made this quilt stand out✅
loved it. You explained it great. I'm sure I will be trying this out.
my gosh. What a wonderful instructor you are.! Thank you for sharing your talent and time.❤️
This is very nice! Definitely saving this. ❤
I love it!!! I cannot wait to make one!
#3 is my favorite-thanks for the demo
