I usually put RTV on the cover and mount the gasket to that before installing but looks like it's not necessary . Thanks for video. No music, no noise, just a man on a mission. Great video. Keep them rolling. 👍
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks buddy. I just bought a 2000 Ford ranger 2.5 manual. I need do this.
Thanks for the video I just bought a 1997 Mazda B2300 and I’m doing a lot of little things to it. Really love my truck 🙌
Thanks for the comment. The truck in the video is a 5sp manual. It was a good combo with the 2.3. Great on gas and fun to drive.
Yeah baby! By the numbers, thank you my friend!
Thanks for the feedback my friend
I have a '97 Ranger that I bought in 1999. Five speed, 2.3 liter, extended cab. As a a DIY, I learned a lot from your video. The camera work is top notch. I hope you continue to post videos when you repair your Ranger. Thank you
Glad the video helped you.
Thanks man, I just changed my Val cover gasget
Great video super illustrative.
Thanks LuisG.
what is the hose called that comes off the air intake to the valve cover at 5:27?
Tengo una 96 y le voy a acer ese trabajo me va servir mucho gracias
You’re welcome. Thanks for the comment. 96 should be about the same as the 97.
Did you know where can I find the torque spec??
I don’t remember where I got the torque spec ( 72-108 inch lbs). I probably just googled it.
If you don’t have an inch lbs torque wrench, I’d go about 7 pounds with a regular torque wrench.
Great Great video 👍 thanks ____🇭🇳
Thanks for watching ! And for the feedback.
I think the egr valve pipe is different on your 97 cause the egr pipe on my 94 is trapping my valve cover haha
I had to lift the front of the valve cover and turn it towards the passenger side in order to clear the EGR pipe and then lift the back over the cam. You could just take the pipe off at the EGR fitting (27mm).
@@CarolinaMedia Thanks for reply. I ended up just taking off the exhaust manifold, I'm doing a head gasket so it needed to come off anyway. Just didn't think it would get in the way that much of valve cover with everything else out of the way already.
Ok
The felpro blue gaskets and the cork are no good. Get the ford gasket f57z-6584-a. They are reusable
Thanks for the tip.
Awesome video man.. I got a 96, I think we got the same engine
Thanks ZionT. It’s a good truck to have with these gas prices. I was getting 27mpg (mostly hwy) with stock wheels. Now only 24mpg with bigger wheels and 30x9.5 tires.
Yeah it really is. Hey man I gta change my head gasket (same engine), could u do a video tutorial on it? Only if u have to change urs ofcourse lol or could u drop me an email adress I could reach u? Thnx for replying man
That's a 10 hour job
