I agree with a lot of what you said in the video. It will never change though. I am also jaded and fed up with current system how healthcare became business and all of CEOs making millions of dollars as their bonus while they are running hospital "short staffed" , Making PAs and NPs provide the same level of care and for very little compensation compared to physicians -- we are all victim of insurance and healthcare Business. It is all about profit nowadays. Now they are transitioning NP degree all Doctorate level of education, it is all about money. Tuition, insurance billing..... I am in DNP program and envisioning myself to run SNFs and do lots of quality improvement in that area, I do believe NPs can play crucial role in community and rural area, yet I am very skeptical about how NPs are forcing to see the patients when patients want to see doctors, NPs are providing same scope of practice as physicians.
Thank you very much for sharing your perspective. I hear you. Well, I think the chance of significant transformation change is quite low, I’m energized by successful social movement into the past. This is the first time that it seemed impossible for positive change to happen, but it has in the past.
I was a nurse for 30 years. If I want to talk to a nurse I will talk to myself. I went 5 YEARS without seeing my cardiologist because it "wasn't necessary." All I saw were pa's and nurses. I finally had enough and asked them if they even had doctors working there. I have an extensive history of heart problems, starting in my late 30's. A PA gave me incorrect meds, and then they realized maybe I should see a doctor. EIGHT WEEKS later I got a cath and had a 95% proximal occlusion of my dominant RCA. I should be dead. I was working when PAs and NPs started and that was the very slippery slope that has landed where we are now. NO health care. Doctors have gotten lazy and don't want to do their jobs any more and so let's let a nurse who's had a couple classes act like a doctor. I have seen patients call them doctor and they never correct them. And so here we are. The crappiest care ever in the US.
God bless you doctor for this extremely valuable and necessary work!
Thank you. I really appreciate your input.

@@DeborahHenrie Thanks for sharing your experience. It highlights the need for change, and to get this right.
They’re assistants. People need to stop using them like they’re attendings.
I favor a system that bases the scope of practice on competence, knowledge, and skill, as opposed to only a title, degree, or license
