- Steve and Rob Anderson-Mclean adopted six brothers and sisters who spent almost five years in the foster care system. Carlos, Lupe, Maria, Selena, Nasa and Max moved in with the couple in 2018 and officially found their “forever home” in May 2019. TODAY’s Meena Hart Duerson reports.

@@zekebanister865 Even if it's not the perfect ending (by some standards) don't you think this is better than being thrown around for years with no sense of security and being separated from your siblings? Because people aren't standing in line to do what these men did.

This is just a new beginning , there is rarely the perfect ending but I think this has a better chance than many . Whatever , keeping the siblings together gives it a much better chance . And yes , better to have a mom there but I was brought up in absolute ignorance of my other four siblings and that was not good but my mom did a very good job so as I said perfect families are rare and perhaps a bit boring !! Good luck to them all .

I have so much respect for these guys - instead of using a surrogate, to have more children - they opened their hearts to adopting six kids.

I am a Christian and when I see stories like this I can't understand how some see this wrong. Our Lord teaches us to have compassion, and love. And what I see here is nothing but love. When other kids are suffering in homes where there's a mom and a dad, seeing this is such a amazing feeling. They are great men, and I pray for nothing but blessings their way.

iraqidolphin1 I often screen the Heart Galleries and UA-cam channels. It’s heartbreaking. There’s 10, 15, 17 years old stuck in the system for years, pleading to be adopted because they don’t want to end up alone in the world without support. The govt throws them to the wolves w/o support, so some places start GoFundMe pages to give them money when they’re 18. It’s tragic. The richest country in earth.

Three years ago he got remarried to my now stepdad, (I just call him dad and my biological father papa.) Recently they adopted a little boy. That man is more of a father than my mother ever was.
Alison, I understand that your case is unique. But, that is only one case. Every study that I have ever read (as well as common sense) tells us that being raised by ONE father and ONE mother is the best case scenario. Your anecdotal evidence doesn't carry much weight ---sorry
Alison Brown, there are Psychologists and Psychiatrists who spend countless hours speaking with children to find out if they are well adjusted or have been adversely affected by a polluted environment. For someone working in the social services (in Europe), this looks great. So many positive aspects here, the siblings could stay together, it looks the adults have the resources and experience. And most importantly, the kids got safe and loving adults in their lives.

My mom took in Foster children for over 30 years adopted five, and I was blessed with adopting one foster child.

I'm so glad that the big obstacle to overcome in this adoption story was the fact that they were 6 siblings. Two dads adopting was a foregone conclusion. It's absolutely horrible that someone would deny a child a family simply because they disagree with who their prospective parent loves.

I've watched hundreds of adoption videos and this is hands down the most amazing one yet. I've had goosebumps and tears in my eyes the entire video. Emotional 😭. My partner and i in November we will celebrate 🎉 35 years together. Now I’m 61 my beautiful beloved Partner is 60 years old. We’re to old to adoption. I am 1 of 5 siblings taken into care in the 90s in the uk. My gran was our saviour and she fostered all of us to stop us being spilt up. It's so important for people like you to help children in big families stay together as we only had each other in the bad times we need each other through the good xx

Seth, It's comical when someone quotes from the Old Testament and doesn't know what he is talking about.. These and other prohibitions were designed to forbid the Israelites to engage in fertility cult practices of the Canaanites. The Canaanites believed in sympathetic magic. But you would have to actually have read and understood the Bible to know this. The Old Testament has scripture denouncing homosexuality. But, more importantly the New Testament where Christ walks the earth washed away many of the old scripture. For example the Canaanites vanished as a people and with it the sin. Clear? . What is important is that the Bible, both the old and New testament speaks directly about homosexuality being both a sin an an "abomination to God." Do I think it's good for kids to be brought up by two men, homosexual or not? NO! One man one woman is the plan and statistics show it works out best for the children in the long run. Have a nice day

Two men with the biggest hearts you'll find anywhere on earth. Very heartwarming true-life story. Who wouldn't be inspired by their love and compassion?
I love them!! Amazing Daddies!! Foster to adopt is AMAZING! I adopted 2 of my children through being a foster parent. Leaving the court room with your two sealed copies of your adoption agreements is the absolute best feeling ever!! The relief that they are finally LEGALLY all yours is the best feeling. I equate it to the feeling after giving birth to my other 2 children. The dads said it perfect that people always say how lucky the kids are, but truly we are the ones that are lucky! We wanted to grow our families and seek these kiddos out. We are blessed to have them, children are gifts from above! If my health didn’t decline I would have fostered many more kiddos. After we got our second son I almost lost my life following a surgery. That triggered some health issues that I was already dealing with to go into over drive. But I hope one day when my 4 are all grown up that I will be able to foster teens this time around. They are so often the forgotten age. Most people want the babies and young children. As did I, because I was new to being a parent. Now I’m passed the baby phase. I love babies don’t get me wrong, but I’m passed being up at night and changing diapers and potty training. That stuff will be amazing to do when I’m a grandma. I think this time around I want to have the kiddos that need the stability and patients in listening and guidance that I will have as a mom that will have already gone through parenting that age 4 times over. I know it will not be easy. I have no delusions of that at all. It’s hard work! Most of these kids have experienced things that no child ever should have to endure. They will have traumas and some ptsd, some with behavioral issues and may be defiant. But with time, you grow trust, gain their respect and then you can really begin to help guide them in ways that can sustain them into adulthood. I truly hope I get to foster again.

That one day, there’s a PLACE, a COMMUNITY, with people from All Walks Of Life & Religions, Who’s ONLY FOCUS is to Take In Severely Abused & Discarded Children, And HELP HEAL THEM!!!!
We’d be a Self-Serving FARM, complete with Animals....NOT For Slaughter Obviously. But Cows for Dairy Stuff, Chickens For Eggs, Horses, Dogs etc.
{as a survivor, I know just how Important animals can be!!! THEY will Never Tell your secrets!}
We’d also have a HUGE Vegetable Garden!!!! As well as our Own Little Schoolhouse, for those that come so Initially Damaged, that sending them out into the world just wouldn’t be good for them.
There would be Individual Houses/Homes of course, but also a BIG Community Kitchen. This we would use for Celebrations, Birthdays & People’s Holidays. This would also allow us to learn about each other’s Cultures & Traditions.
I’ve always thought that, the Majority of Domestic and other Violent Crimes Are ultimately due to Child Abuse.....
As such, We HEAL The Children, Who In Turn, become Healthy & HAPPY Adults, Who Don’t Commit Crimes, But Instead....

@@thecelticcrone7927 Thats a very interesting concept. Most of these components are suppose to be what fostering is suppose to do. As for the farm, there are studies that link children or people with developmental disabilities doing well with animals. Of course not everyone can work with animals. Some children are very harmful towards animals and some might be very afraid. I think it would be an amazing middle ground for when children are not placed with foster parents and are or are hard to place children. I think its a nice idea but of course there is so much to cover and I feel you may have thought those through but if you havent there is alot to work with. I am actually a child trauma therapist and many of the children I work with are affected by DV(domestic violence). This would also only work in some states as not all states can provide children to farm due to lack of land in those particular states. You have my support! I hope it all goes well for you! Keep me updated on your journey in make your dreams a reality.

It's the same thing I want to do when I'm set and done... I want to adopt and have a family without separating the brothers & sisters.

I adopted my grandaughter . Just one and it changed my life. Those children are so blessed to have them . This day and time both parents not available to care for them is scary. I know realize therapy and there life book is so important. Amazing miracle for all.
There was a recent story of a kid needing parents to adopt him... His sibling was adopted but not him! That is such a cruel thing to do to children... They already have trauma from being foster kids and to separate them is inhumane

This proves a child needs to be loved above all else... they don’t need a Mum & Dad they need parents who love them unconditionally and totally... this is wonderful xx

Beautiful, just beautiful. These men have huge hearts. I'm so so very happy for those kids. For all of them, really!! If I get the chance, I too will adopt in the future, family isn't blood, family is the bond that you create with love.
What a heartwarming story. There’s so many unwanted children and siblings being separated these 2 guys made it a point the siblings stay together. Koodos and blessings to you all. What an amazing family ❤️
