This movie was released in 2007 which means it's 14 years... And this was Madhuri Dixit's comeback in the bollywood because she stopped doing movies after her marriage... And to let you know she was a really big star in India, i would say not just in India but whole Indian Peninsula...

That instrument at 15:02 that you really liked and felt different is Sarangi and is one of the oldest instruments according to the ancient Vedic Hindu culture. It's kept at high regard in instruments as its said that it's the closest instrument that can emulate human voice and hence used to introduce emotions to the composition. It's regarded as one of the most difficult instruments to learn as its played using the cuticle of the nails.

This is what happens when both singer and performer are masters of their craft. Apart from the direction for visualization, kathak form of dancing always tells a story, and Madhuri Dixit is arguably the best kathak dancer in Bollywood not to mention her amazing expressions. I recommend her songs "Maar Dala" and "Kahe Ched" to see more such performances.

Indian(hindu specifically ) gods do show some very human like character. So, it alright. After all Hindus do believe, that God resides in everything and everyone. That's why we greet it in gesture of 'namaste' with a little bow at the end. Also, many hands are just a way of showing ones different quality and just being more expressive.

At 10.16: Actually this art of storytelling that stimulates all senses comes from Natyashastra written by Bharatamuni around 500 BC. And this ancient text has inspired Indian cinema a lot. Also till the date no one around the world could find mistakes in it unlike Aristotle's Poetics which has some faults. As a student of Literature i have read Natyashastra in college. And it's beautiful. You could Google and learn about it, if you want.

You could actually check the entire movie out if you like. It’s a really subtle movie that’s based on a small village girl and her fight with politics in stopping them from taking down the open dance theatre where they’re seen performing that is the historical landmark of that small village.

One thing that always surprises me about Waleska is the way she interprets the chunks of sequences, analyses them and again recomposes those chunks to derive a story. Almost always, her understanding is perfect. Not only about the storyline, but about the social background, traditions and customs, the consequences of out of the box behavior everything. She has a bang on awareness about right from music, visuals, storyline, human relationships. Almost, in this case, like she is born and brought up in India. I was even more amazed when she said, maybe he's the bad guy. Well, he's not a bad guy, but he betrays her and that fuels a struggle in her life for sure. Nobody is bad, they are just ignorant. But kudos Waleska, I really love the way you interpret things, they are very realistic

The actress is legend Madhuri Dixit, she is a beautiful expressive performer and Kathak (North Indian classical dance) dancer. The bells tinkle are called ghungroo (brass, iron) tied on your ankles in classical Indian North & South dance forms. This song is a flashback, return home (she eloped, left her bethrothed, family dishonour etc.), movie is from 2007, would not recommend watching it, underperformed. The soundtrack is good, songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal & Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailesh Kher, among others you can check out. You have checked out Dola re Dola, Ghar More Pardesiya songs with Madhuri Dixit in them. This was her return to films after couple of years as she had married settled in the US.

Salim Suleiman composed song and sung by the maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It is such a fantastically structured song to show a dance studio where students are learning from a hard taskmaster of a teacher. Its a fusion blend. Madhuri Dixit the female led, is an iconic B'wood actress famous for her dancing skills besides her acting. You should see it if you want to see the transition for a village girl dancer to move to New York, but returns to save her old dance school when it starts to fade. Madhuri is feast for the eyes when she is on screen

In the same movie, there is a play called Laila Majnu... sadly there are no subtitles in the UA-cam video but if you get it somehow it will be great as it is pure theater and I am hundred percent sure you will guys like it... also the movie is very nice... A movie which is a must-watch... Very theater based at the same time a very traditional atmosphere. Love the way each video is dissected and explained in the videos... I know I am saying it again but you guys really give us an insight into Western music also which is very interesting and different on this platform.
