A detailed explanation of the sport SPEEDFLYING

Speedflying is one of those unknown, insane to think about sports. People may have heard of it, but speedflying sure doesn't show up on any "extreme sports list" you may find on the internet. Now that may be due to the fact that the sport is fairly new, but I think it could also be because the sport is seldomly documented. Nobody has seen speedflying before.
Speedflying is a mysterious creature, especially in the United States. There are no formal legalities in US for the sport to be executed around structures like gondolas and lifts, so the few pilots who do participate have found solace in the mountains, away from the eyes of the public. And we speedflyers do love the peace of brief separation from society.
However, speedflying is going to begin to hit the spotlight in the next coming years. More and more new pilots are joining the still tiny, but growing community of speedflyers, boosting awareness of the badass sport. Now, the sport will begin to be highlighted in larger media with the next Mission Impossible movie highlighting the daredevil sport on the big screen. Also, it helps that the technology of cameras is improving rapidly so that specific camera crews and the pilots them selves can capture the sport in ways that breaths life into what is actually happening so far away from observing eyes.
The video that you've just witnessed was filmed with a small racing (FPV) drone. The way that the drone is able to move through space matches quite closely to how the speed pilots move through space, allowing an alternative view into the sport, beyond what the pilots eyes see. The drone allows viewers to see speedflying for all of its insanity; showing risk, precision, stoke, and large kahonas from an outside perspective (but not too far away ;)
