@@MoeMisakaMikoto Yes it does! It makes you extremely tanky in PvE content with being able to keep up defiant stance and spam reverse stab and shield bash. i definitely prefer it over Shield Rush
I got some tips for tanking in practise. You are the leader of the party, you lead where they go, you must always be at the front, so that enemies see you first. Grab the agro on most enemies, but prioritize miniboss like enemies, sometimes an enemy or two can slip through, dont stress about it and go for them inmediatelly, you dont want to bring the whole mob to the healer. Take your time, eliminate the enemies you have and then try taunting again. Always try to position yourself behind the group of enemies, so their backs faces the dps group, this is for 2 reasons: 1.- To avoid enemies hitting your friends and 2.- To not block hits. Learn your healers cooldowns. This is paramount. You both have to work together to keep the team alive, healer by eliminating damage, and tank by reducing damage. The healer has various healing abilities that have cooldown, inbetween cooldowns, you need to be on your guard or have a healing of yourself at hand Pay attention to the enviroment. Know where the allies are, where the enemies spawn, what is the boss doing, who is about to die, you need to think and act accordingly depending on the situation. Make bosses face the wall. between the boss and the wall is the best place you should be. All their attacks will be targeted to you only, keeping the dps focusing on attacking, not healing or evading. The healer will focus on healing you only. And when adds spawn, you keep the big guy away from them all, giving the team an easier time to deal with them. Use your chat to communicate. Dont be silent, talk the strats, mentor the first comers, be nice to all and congratulate. keep the spirit up and the information flowing. Equipment is important. Keep an eye on pieces that raises your constitution and strenght, it is not the end of the world if a piece raises another stat, but you must review each piece based on this, armor rating, gear score and perks. Speaking on perks, look for weapons that lower cooldowns on abilities, siphon health or generate more threat natively. For equipment avoid at all cost the ones that lowers your threat. Most tanks keep their weight load as high, the dodges are slower and shorter, but this raises the defense up by a significant margin. Choose wisely
if you are tanking with hatchet you might want the stamina regen on crit and stam regen on light if target has debuff, on the right side. It means you can constantly dodge incoming attacks between light spam. It's very useful as a tank.
I don't think people realize how OP ice gauntlet is for tanking. "Blocking Stamina" is a passive that when blocking with ice gauntlet, it converts 3 mana into 15 stamina. You have almost endless stamina to block until you run out of mana, in which case you pop "Entombed" which will regenerate all your mana, AND make you invincible for 10 seconds. Use it with sword/shield's "Reverse Stab" cd reduction, and you have virtually endless taunting, blocking, and damage reduction, plus an invincibility every 30 seconds. Not every 75 secs like with the hatchet.
This sounds pretty cool (pun not intended)! I still rate defy death highly as it gives good room for error for the more average player, but I definitely appreciate this tanking concept and will try it out!
Very good idea, played around with it during the betas and sadly I couldn't make it work efficiently. The lack of native taunt on the ice gauntlet was an issue (that can be worked around), but the main problem with the way blocking for mana works is the fact that it only counts towards light attacks. Heavy attacks still break through your stamina bar instead. No idea if this is a bug or intended, but worth keeping an eye on for the release. Have fun testing all sorts of combinations!
They can't change this skill combo. It's skill based and rewarding when you pull it off and can keep your cooldowns. You can't pull it off reliably every time, at best you tend to reduce cooldowns by 50%, and 20 seconds is still a long ass time. It feels really good as is. If I can't be rewarded for keeping aggro and planning that perfect strike for the reset tanking would be boring, significantly harder and less effective and I'd just dps.
Well fellow tank here, and ive done all endgame content both dungeons and all the arenas, and what i found out is that the later in the game u get the more it is required from the tank to deal dps, especially in lazarous and the arenas. I personally prefer to use greathammer secondary for lifesteal and crowdcontrol/dps, since using the hatchet gets u messed up in literal seconds, For sword and shield i go for a 12/8 Build, for the 10% dps buff for party, and only take defiant stance ability and the best stuff in tanking tree, It doubled my dps, and still tanks like a boss.
Don't forget that if you plan on being heavy, you should have a shield equipped even if you're not running sword and board. The shield will simply be a stat stick in the cases that you're not using it.
Hey great video! Very well presented and easy to follow along while being super informative. Thank you making it :) Just a quick question tho, what is the website you used for playing around with stats at 9:36 ?
Tried this build at least for the first expedition and it was definitely lacking. Yea you get the cool down IF you get everyone lined up and hit multiple targets but that isn't always the case. So in times you don't get value off of it you are lacking in other areas that make you a stronger tank. Defense tree definitely went smoother and easier for the healer. This build is good on paper but in practice falls short.
@@SlowMoCook hatchet and sword is definitely combo and going down berserk tree is the way to go for defy death and the aoe taunt. These have been a lot more reliable especially when people may pull aggro or mobs rush the healer. These are very good talents to go down for maintaining aggro but also not being a squishy tank.

Is reverse stab 25% per target still working?
no
Was reverse stab changed?
How many of the threat increasing tank gems u need tho ? just in the weapons ?
only works in weapons
If you put it in armor it reduces your threat instead thats a no go for tanks.
