I love when you show pictures of the adult cats! Really drives the point home how big of an impact rescuing these little lives makes. And they're gorgeous.
We rescued a stray tuxedo female cat who soon after had a litter of four girls. When they were born they were this strange off white colour but then they started changing colour. Three ended up with the classic brown tips but the fourth one changed to a beautiful lilac/grey colour. We named them Mollie, Hollie, Gracie and Bessie. Mollie is the only one still alive from that litter and she has her 15th birthday next month. And she’s still changing colour, depending on the weather.
I too had a stray tuxedo give birth to Siamese babies. They were the first kittens I bottle fed because their mother went into heat when they were tiny. One of those kittens grew up to be my best friend throughout my teenage years and into my twenties, and a huge reason I got into rescue.
@@indiatastic they sure do! I have a color point girlie who is mostly white in the summer other than her ears and tail, and turns a deep caramel in her back during the winter ❤
@@madethistocomment727makes sense when you think about it - it's the temperature that tells their genes to inhibit colour or not, and those genes don't just switch off. So when it's colder weather more of their body will be cooler and they'll darken up.
I adopt colorpoint short hair cat and he has links point. He is handsome and eat a lot. I witness his color gradually getting darker and darker each time is so mesmerizing, love my boy chiro
I’ve never heard of these, but apparently my Mittens is one! She’s a seal point! She was nearly all white when we got her at 4 months old with just her ears, tail, and right above the tips of her paws being slightly darker, and now, several years later, we love to call her our little toasted marshmallow 😽 She’s such a sweetheart 🥰
@@daniellewoolley8607 No, I’ve heard of Siamese cats, but I’d never heard the term “color point” before. My cat definitely has Siamese coloring, but she is nowhere as skinny and angular in the face as they are. We just assumed she was either part Siamese or maybe apple headed buramese. Whatever she is, watching her colors darken up so much over the years was really neat and it’s nice to know the scientific term for that now ☺️🖤
My cat is a flame color point, she was the lightest of the litter, and still has the lightest color point pattern. What I love is that in the winter her whole body has a bit of an orange glow and then you can see she actually has white socks! They're very subtle, it's very cute.
My Mr. Flea was a flame point Siamese. His ears got darker with age to a nice rusty colour. He was such a love bug. He passes away at 17 last month. I miss him so much.
2 months ago I rescued a color point cat, just the tip of his ears, feet and nose were dark. Now his face is almost all dark. It is truly amazing. ♡ Argh, all cats are beautiful. ♡
Goodmorning dear lady. I rescued a female "Balinese" that had a very light cream coat with mocha colored "colorpoints". After 2 years of home bliss, she has really changed colorwise. I never heard of a Balinese. She has accelerated thyroid disease (on Methimazole ) and now her color points are very dark and quite beautiful . Thank you for all the work you do.
I think is from Bali, Indonesia. Btw I live in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Oh, when I read on Wiki apparently it's from US. "As is the case with their short-haired counterparts, a genetic distinction is made between traditional or "old-style" and modern body types. In the American standard, color variants derived from the Colorpoint Shorthair are further considered a separate breed, known as the Javanese. There is no particular connection between these cats and the Indonesian islands of Bali and Java, from which they derive their names. Like their Siamese ancestors, Balinese are sociable, vocal, playful, inquisitive, and intelligent."
I have 2 British shorthair cats…brothers from same litter… lilac colourpoints but one is a bi colour ( and white on parts of him…. They looked quite white at birth… I called them little cream puffs when I saw them at a couple days old…. This is why I named the one with white Cream Puff….and his brother is Coffee Cake . They are 4 years old now and the loves of my life 💙
My sweet Princess has acute kidney disease also, she is now 15 years old she was diagnosed 1 year and 4 months ago and she is also doing well on Semintra. She runs and plays around like a kitten. I hope she can be with us for a long while still I love her so much, hope your baby stays healthy. Also love the work you do to help those kittens 🤗
Such a beautiful example of Chaotic cuteness when showing them all on her lap towards the end. I remember my Tux giving birth to a color point. She was beaatiful, and threw a gorgeous set of kittens too. I let her have one litter, and they all were found homes and loved so quickly cause of thier coloring.
We rescued a beautiful seal point boy back in October - we planned to do a TNR but realized he had some visual impairment so decided (with veterinary input) he'd be better off just joining our household, and it's been so interesting watching his final coloration come in. He has the look of an actual Siamese cat, with the pale blue eyes and the specific facial bone structure, but his Wisdom Panel (thanks for letting us know about those, Hannah!) says he's very little Siamese and his bone structure comes from significant Sphynx DNA. His name is Milo but I like to call him Sourpatch because he was SO mad about being kidnapped from outside (which, to be fair, I guess I can understand) but learned really quickly how much he loved being safe, warm, and dry all the time, with all the food and head massages he wants. Just like the candy: first he was sour, now he's sweet. :)
I have a colorpoint. She was almost pure white except ears and tail when I adopted her. In less than a year she started turning more medium gray on parts of her fur. Most of her body and face now gray. Tabby stripes on her face and legs, tabby rings on her tail and siamese blue eyes 😺. She is a lynx point.
Color point cats are the best! I have 2 color point cats that we rescued. We have a flame point and a seal point (both females). They both have the BEST personalities. Our seal point came from a litter that had a kitten that looked like a calico on half her face and a seal point on the other side of her face. She was beautiful. There was also a tabby cat in the same litter. We ended up adopting him too because he was bonded with the seal point which turned out to be the best decision ever!
I took in a solid black pregnant cat for foster and three weeks later she had a solid black, a grey tabby, a silver/gray and two pure white. The two pure whites turned out to be color-points. Was so cool to see such an array of colors come out of a solid black mom. And yes, all found homes!
We rescued a litter of 3 kittens so young they hadn’t opened their eyes yet….one grey tabby, one brown tabby, and one buff colored. We had homes lined up for all three, but one family was going to be moving house soon so we offered to hold onto the little buff fellow. Well you KNOW what happened: by the time they got all settled in we had fallen in love with this very special little guy, who developed into a handsome lynx point. I understood the “foster fail” syndrome (😆😁) ,but I had never understood why these kittens didn’t color-up until they got a bit older. Thank you for explaining temperature sensitive albinism. ❤ 🐈
I adopted a 7-month old kitten this past Feb and she's a color point. She has gray color point with faint stripes in it that are more apparent in sunlight. Her tail is most apparent and it looks like a racoon! She likes to poof up her tail when she's playing, and it's so adorable and it makes her look like a racoon. She is so precious and I'm so happy I adopted her
My cat Soju was born white. When he was old enough to come home he had very light brown stripes. Now his ears are dark blueish grey and so are all his stripes. It was so fun watching him change
I adopted my Fantasia at 6 weeks old, and she's a beautiful seal point and white, with mostly white legs. There was definitely awhile there where I wasn't sure if her little "dirt spot" on one leg was color coming in or her being a messy kitten!
My cat Lucian is a red point! I was so worried because he came to us like a slightly cooked marshmallow and now he looks like an on point marshmallow! Even took him to the vet thinking something was wrong because his fur was getting darker He's my first cat so I'm still learning the ropes haha Now he's 2 to 3 years old (we found him as a teen and aren't sure how old he is) and he looks just like the cat in your video with fiery points
We had a seal point Siamese when I was growing up. She was fantastic. She followed us home, no one claimed her. We put out flyers and everything. She lived to be 22y/o. She was courageous, funny, and a real talker! Love those kitties!
I grew up with lots of Siamese cats. As you said, all the litters started out totally white. However, you could tell what color they were going to develop by checking out their toe beans.
I recently adopted a color point kitten and whenever I show new pictures of her to friends they are always fascinated with all the small ways her coloration has changed.
Temperature sensitive albinism is a really cool trait. My dilute torti girl looked like a regular linx point as a kitten but she really changed as she grew older and didn't get her full coloring till she was about 2.
When I was 13 we got a kitten who had been found by my brother’s neighbor, and she was a lynx point. My parents didn’t see any point in spaying and neutering (😢), and she ended up having lots of kittens over the years. At one point, we ended up with tortoiseshell point kittens! They were so beautiful.
thank you for the uplift. I had a gorgeous blue-eyed, flame point, polydactyl male. Adopted as an adult, obviously we never got to see his kitten coloring and this video gave me an estimate. We had eight years of his majestic presence.
Great video! I had a lynx point years ago. One thing you didn't mention is that their points also change from season to season! My kitty had really pronounced dark markings in the winter, and in the summer, they were much more faded. Very cool! Now I know why. Since you guys only have one season in So Cal you probably don't see that with your cats, lol.
A fun fact about colourpoint boy cats: If they're not fixed, their little balls will also be darker. My cousin has a cat who she thought was a girl until his points darkened & his boy bits got darker too! Now he's a lovely (neutered) lynx point kitty with bright blue eyes.
We rescued two colorpoint kittens. One grew to looking like a sable point Burmese. His brother was a tabby point who was usually blue… unless he was red… or lilac. We used to call him Sir Thomas of Snuggle of the Ever Changing Coat
That is very cool information! 😮 I didn’t know about this! I just thought kittens have the colors on them when they are born. Look at those little kitty faces! I just want to hug them and give them kisses! 💕💕💕
I am a long time Siamese owner and I love them, I love all cats but Siamese hold a special place in my heart. I currently have a female flame point, a male seal point, and their daughter a female tortie point.
So fascinating about the temperature affecting the color! My flame point gets darker in the winter and lighter in the summer, which totally matches with this!
I rescued a snowshoe colorpoint when he was about six weeks old and named him Ringo because I thought he was a gray Tabby with rings on his tail at the time. Imagine my surprise, when at about 4 months old, his limbs, face, and back started turning black! LOL Needless to say you cannot see the rings on his tail anymore!😂😂
I had a color point kitten when I was little and his dark parts only started coming through later when he was growing! It is so interesting to see them transform! 😻❤️
My current foster litter are color points! Or well, at least NOW I know that. I have one seal point who's stunning and then her two brothers are still pretty white but I'm starting to see some orange stripes appear so I'm excited to see where their color goes!! Their mom is a beautiful seal point.
I have heard of color point cats but didn't know the biology behind why they were like that. Thank you for sharing this. It's really fun learning things when you have such cutie pies as models.❤
What a great video to start my day - a smush of adorable cuties with a sweet lady there to educate us! They are going to be gorgeous. Thank you for the work you do to help babies and help all of us learn. 😊
My gorgeous Colorpoint mixed breed ragdoll was the only colorpoint in her litter of 5 kittens. It was amazing to watch her go from white to her current colors.
Some people get views by umm, you know hurting cats, but she is like the best human ever and only has 1.52 million subs!? This girl deserves everyone in the whole frickin world. Thank you so much kitty lady, from all your videos, you have helped my raise my 3 healthy kittens
We rescued a flame point at 6 days old thanks to all of your education! I for sure thought he was all white and will never forget seeing the color come in on his face first and was wondering what is he!
Ooh! I had a color point kitten once. She was beautiful! I always thought she was a part Siamese cat, but now, thanks to this video, I know what she was! Thanks for this great information! Love from Texas ❤
I love my lynx point boy! He has such a funny personality. And he LOVES his human mama!.. he literally reaches for me if someone else is holding him, like a baby reaching for their mother. It melts my heart every damn time!
aaaw such a cute explanation. Our adopted kitty was almost completelly white when we got her, but grew out to be a lynx point kitty with a ginger nose, dark feet and tail and striped coat. Only her belly and chin are still white at some points❤
They are so adorable and seeing the one kitten holding her bottle was just too cute. Thank you for showing us the beautiful cats that your kittens has grown into.
Love this!!! The first cat I ever met when I was a child was a colour point kitten and her name was Pearl and I was in love 😍. I even painted a porcelain cat from a color me mine place that color pattern as a kid. I think I even slept with it or played with it because it broke several times at the same place and my parents had to glue it back together for me and put earthquake putty underneath it to keep it from falling off it’s shelf 😂. I still have it 😊. Someday I want to have one ❤.
I adopted a lynx point that was found in the woods and ended up at a vet clinic I used to work for. I had just lost a cat due to cancer and was not really wanting to adopt right away but thought my other cat might want a friend... it was those blue eyes that convinced me. She is very sweet (like all cats) and I call her my cinnamon girl... gray/black points, cinnamon, gray and black stripes along her back and legs with black rings around her tail. Such a beauty queen.
I learned so much from this video! I can't wait to share it with my husband! I was rescued by a flame point stray many years ago. I named him Marshi Mo' because he looked like a toasted marshmallow.
Three years ago, I rescued two kittens. One was a dark grey/black cat and the other a lynx point. It took me a while to figure out his color because as I was filling out the applications to spay and neuter my cats, they asked what color my cats where. That's where I learned about colorpoint. And believe me, he turned out to become a big beautiful lynx point cat.
Very interesting! Last summer we had a tortie mama cat show up under our carport with 3 perfectly white kittens. One eventually gained orange coloring on his ears, nose, & tail, another gained grey coloring, & the third remained solid white with beautiful long fur. I never knew what this was called or what caused it. Thanks for sharing!
Our wonderful hospice foster is a flame point! We always talked about wanting to know what he looked like as a kitten. They aren’t very common in our area, then my current litter of foster kittens has a baby flame point. We normally don’t have a problem with foster fails but we are so tempted ❤
I have a color point cat who turned out super dark! You can still see creamy fur around his neck and shoulders and the brown on his belly is lighter, but otherwise he's mostly brown. When I learned that the color is temperature sensitive I felt a little guilty but honestly, thinking back, he always had the warmest spots to sleep and would have his kitten naps in the middle of my folded legs so I guess that's just his fur pattern.
I found a 2 days old kitty a month ago and your videos have helped me so so much, thank you for taking the time in doing this videos and helping us taking care of fur babies. I have 6 cats but never had a kitten that wasn't ready to eat yet so I feel like a new mom again. She's sneezing and coughing a little bit so I'll take her to the vet just to be sure she's okay, had to go to get her second deworming anyways in a few days so I'll just be there 2 days earlier 🤭
I didn't know that non-siamese could be color points. I had a litter of all white cats from a tabby mom. One of the boys from the litter was born all white but gradually got a thumb sized black dot on his forehead and a couple of black hairs on his tail. He lived to 18 years old and in his last couple years of life his fur went back to all white again. we thought it was odd but it did help identify him from his brother and sister.
Absolutely gorgeous kitties ❤😍 my cat has started to go grey (he's not a colour point cat but still beautiful) i thank you for the hard work you do rescuing cats and kittens and looking after them too ❤
My Mom had Sealpoint Siamese cats when we're growing in the 60's. Mingee was a Sealpoint Siamese female & then they bought a male & female Sealpoint Siamese cats, Holly & Sonny. They were Beautiful cats & we had Regular cats too, All black cats was Midnite & Tommy & a Tuxedo cat named Impy. My Grandmother had 20 cats they were everywhere & some ate out of my Grandpa's plate & we loved it as kids. Lol 🐈⬛🐾😺💞💞
I've never had a colorpoint kitten but I've seen some, and would LOVE to get one and that it turns out surprising as the color comes out! Beautiful little angels!
I just took one of these in a few months back. His mother had him under our house. He pretty. Eyes blue still. Just got him fixed last week. Thankyou for explaining. I had no idea how to list him when we had him fixed. Ours Is a lynx point
When I was a kid (I was around 15 at the time), at my granny's she had barn cats. We knew one of them was pregnant and we saw her one day obviously skinnier lol, so we went looking for the babies. They were all black but there was this one white kitten with blue eyes. I fell in love and brought her hone once she was old enough. She ended up a flame point. I miss her dearly, my mom refused to let me have a litter box and she got ran over when she was far too young. She will always be one of my favorite kitties, her name was Pie Face (cause she looked like she stuck her face in a peach pie 🧡). I kinda think my Peppermint is Pie Face come back. She acts such the same way, she's all white with a blue eye and a green eye (no deafness, either!). She's just turned 17 this month! I've had her since I was 18. None of my cats go outside unless it is supervised now. We are gonna build a catio this year! :)

Omg, I just fostered my first color-point and this video was so informative, thanks!!
I had a color point kitten when I was little and his dark parts only started coming through later when he was growing! It is so interesting to see them transform! 😻❤️
Came for the kittens, stayed for the science! Best video ever! 😻😻😻😻
My rescue is a color point! It has been so fun watching his color change and spread. His face has gotten a lot more color. He is the sweetest boy.
Such beautiful cats! 😍 Thanks for explaining this since I never really understood what color point meant 😏
This litter is so precious! Thank you for this! Happy Caturday ❤
My current foster litter are color points! Or well, at least NOW I know that. I have one seal point who's stunning and then her two brothers are still pretty white but I'm starting to see some orange stripes appear so I'm excited to see where their color goes!! Their mom is a beautiful seal point.
Thank you for fostering!
So interesting and strange that the colour point pattern relates to temperature. What a bunch of cuties!
1:05 BONK (tumble)😹😹
Kittens are simply the greatest!
Oh my gosh I've been curious and confused about this for so many years and you just made it all click in 5 minutes. THANK YOU! They are so cool!
I love colorpoint cats, they're so pretty! I have two ragdoll kittens - one is a blue point and the other is blue lynx mitted (paws are white).
I love how their colour points develop like Polaroid pictures.
I rescued my flame point when he was 5 weeks old and I also thought he was dirty! 10 years later, I love my big flame point man. He's so loving ❤
Thanks for explaining this color changing in cats and for posting it. These kittens just like all other kittens are so cute!
I love tortie/calico mama's because you never know what you're gonna get lol
I have 2 lynx point girls I adore them so much
Our wonderful hospice foster is a flame point! We always talked about wanting to know what he looked like as a kitten. They aren’t very common in our area, then my current litter of foster kittens has a baby flame point. We normally don’t have a problem with foster fails but we are so tempted ❤
Would love a follow up video on what they look like when their colors come in! I’ve had 2 color point cats (so far 😊).
I'll have to watch this again...my brain kept turning off to completely focus on those cutey-patooty kittens drinking from their bottles. 😍
They are beautiful kittens! Such unique colors!❤
Makes sense, black absorbs heat easier, so it keeps those parts warmer without making them too hot all over
Um, actually the reason those areas darken is because they are cooler not because they are warmer.
I love your channel !!! The production values are excellent and you truly care and love these beautiful baby kittens!!!!
My cat Leelo is a flame point. She is the most beautiful cat I’ve ever had, with the best personality too ❤
Absolutely gorgeous kitties ❤😍 my cat has started to go grey (he's not a colour point cat but still beautiful) i thank you for the hard work you do rescuing cats and kittens and looking after them too ❤
My Mom had Sealpoint Siamese cats when we're growing in the 60's. Lol 🐈⬛🐾😺💞💞
I have a gorgeous little lynx-point cat. She was white as a cotton ball when we adopted her, but has such dark, gorgeous stripes now!
The adult has an accusatory expression. Hilarious!
My baby is a lynx point. He was the only "white" kitten in his litter, the rest were tabby.
Colorpoints eyes are almost always blue due to their albinism.
@@jelatinosa yup. His eyes are so pretty.
Guppy has my whole ❤
Flamepoints are my favorite 🥹
The tortie point is very beautiful kitties
Yes I learned something new today, simply adorable ❤
I can see so much love in their eyes towards you!

3:26 I have a cat that looks almost identical to this he was born almost pure white with very light gray points. He also has all 4 white feet
