I am not impressed with the fuel efficiency of the CX-5 diesel because my 2018 Subaru Outback with the 2.5L engine has returned a calculated fuel consumption of 8.4L/100km over the last 24,000 km. My best tank returned 6.8L/100km (calculated based on 946 km on 64.0 L) with 75% highway and 25% intra-city driving. It could probably cover over 1000 km on a tank on straight highway trips. Yes, the CX-5 looks sexy, but IMHO, the fuel consumption of the CX-5 diesel is not attractive enough for me to even put it on the list of crossovers for consideration when it comes time for me to replace my Outback. On top of that, the diesel engine is a very expensive option (around $5000 CAD) which in itself is a show stopper!
should be the same as the one you find in the United States the closest comparison is a euro V Australian spec because both have detuned engines from the Original European and Japanese Market versions
Australian one has 450Nm torques. Gas petrol only has 420Nm here, though way more power up high. Not de-tuned at all. I'm on 6.6L/100km right now but still running in so may go down with more spirited driving.
I would expect a diesel motor to be more efficient. My 2014 Audi Q5 Diesel gets better mpg (we use mpg in the USA) and that's after the diesel scandal fix!
Soon I will be looking into the CX5 diesel top of the line. As well as the top of the line MX5 for the weekends.

It's not that fuel efficiency is high as you are claiming, but the fuel consumption is hight, right?
I dont understand as my Cx5 diesel in traffic never goes over 7.2 l/100 and on a 80km freeway drive on weekend returned 4.7.
That is amazing economy !
👍
Great to see that report! Seriously looking for something like these. Would be nice on the bigger 3rd row rigs. Cheers.
Lots of shots of you filling up?
Really?
Why?

My gas model get 6.4 L per 100 highway and 7.6 city!
Diesel is cheaper than petrol in europe
Not in UK.
Even in Africa
