The OLD DOOR HINGE was similarly used in Australia for early settlers for the base hinge of iron pot holders over the fireplace...

I quite enjoyed watching today and joining you on your detecting in the field.
I had not seen a horse pendant before and to see it after you had cleaned it fascinated me.
I was thinking about some of the European and Asian history of my country AUSTRALIA. I thank the Dutch were first of the Europeans to visit in the 1600s but the Aboriginal communities had been trading with Indonesians for thousands of years before in fishing.
The Aborigines have a history here of 80 000 years or more as far as I know.

When you found the “drawer pull”, I thought it was a pommel. That’s the top find for me, silver coin a very close second. Great video
It's not easy sometimes to define finds on the field when filming.. sometimes one is over optimistic and that can be embarrassing .. I prefer to stay modest and correct myself later :D thank you for watching :)

So glad you got a worthwhile find! My favorite though was the door hinge. I think about the life of that hinge and how on earth it got on that field. You know, we live in our houses, never thinking that a day might come when they're demolished and something else is put in their places. I would imagine that whoever lived in the house where that hinge was placed that they never imagined their house would be demolished and that single, forgettable hinge would one day end up buried in a non-descript field.
Of course, I guess the hinge could have broken and needed to be replaced and the house still stands. Who knows? That's why objects like that are interesting to me. I want to know their story!

Wow Hans, what a delight once again! These amazing shots, your calming voice, the suitable notes, a silver coin and even the little notepad; they all combine into one great masterpiece. By the way: I also find these 1 (& 2) pfennig coins a lot here in the most southern part of the Netherlands, now I know why they come out that good, because of the high quality bronze used. Subscribed, awesome coins you found, My brother and I just started detecting these past few months and always talk about how amazing it would be to detect in Germany. New York here so our history doesn't go as far back as Germany but we did find a lot of old coins recently and surprisingly a Finnish coin from 1873 in a place we couldn't understand how it got there.

The pommel looks like the one that was lost from the roman dagger found recently in Switzerland. This was published by the Smithsonian. What a splendid artifact!
