- Season of the Wish features what I think is a really fantastic seasonal activity in The Coil, which is mainly what we're gonna be talking about today. However, there was one thing completely unrelated to the season that really, really annoyed me.

yeah he's always been pretty "it is what it is" on the monetisation but i guess with the way things have been for destiny and bungie this year, datto finally ran out of "it is what it is" and does not want to continue

He has good reason to be upset. Destiny is Datto's living, and Bungie keeps doing things that threaten his job. If players keep leaving, Datto might or might not be able to transition to other games and get decent monetization. I am certainly rooting for him however...

@@Ceece20 honestly, catty's not obtained via quests or seasonal pursuits should just be given automatically and fully upgraded after 500-800 or so kills with the weapon. the seasonal pursuit missions need to be nerfed heavily as well, chipping away at playlist activities is ridiculous.

Yeah I like that as well. I do think they should remove the “drifting apart” debuff for solo players though because it doesn’t go away without another player to stand near. I’m sure the modifiers are rotating, just thought that part was a bit annoying.

Oh nice, I was worried as I'm a solo scrub and the idea of it being the most challenging seasonal content doesn't sound great to me. With the ability to actually play solo, meaning I'm not letting down other people and can kinda figure it out at my own pace instead of feeling like I need to know the entire thing by heart on my first run, makes it at least a little bit more approachable.

For anyone running The Coil, it has the same modifier as legendary campaigns where it scales the difficulty based on your fireteam size. I ran the private version as a duo and it wasn’t insane but still challenging. Ended up getting a platinum clear without trying to
Even at 3, it honestly isn't that bad as long as you focus up and don't waste revives early on. Some encounters are bound to suck up revives in the 3rd and 4th runs so if you can keep most of them up to that point then you should be fine as long as you realize the difficulty level that you're playing at. As for paItinum, I can't say for certain that my teammated didn't kill a glass hoarder at some point, but I can say that I personally only saw one and it was late enough in the run that chasing after it would've only gotten me killed so I let it go and we still got well over platinum score that run

I mean we do? I truly don’t know what the next option is. It seems to me as tho Bungie upper management has seemingly given up on the game and they’re now milking every last dollar they can from it. Even from a greedy business standpoint this is a straight up bad decision and u don’t need much foreknowledge to know that. We can’t say Bungie hasn’t always been incredibly perverse and greedy I mean they hired a psychologist to make the game similar to gambling but this is just idek. At least they use to have a semi balance between “yea we want your money” and “here’s a fuckwad of enjoyable content for a reasonable price”
@@trenhen4311 agreed, this is espically shown when you compare the marketing of destiny/destiny 2 to its only other real competitor Warframe. Warframe had a little issuse a while ago where they were going to let let new players buy there way through the story, and I believe it was $5 a pop for each quest in order to auto complete them as well as getting the rewards from said quests, but as of there most recent dev stream (i believe dev stream 175) they retracted that statement and instead just made the quests easier to start and to complete with no additional fees. This of course is also not even talking about the massive amount of content there is in the game all for the very steep and horrid price of free. Now there a good chunk of problems with Warframe such as the massive time sink that is without a doubt bigger than a destiny 2 time sink and the need to farm things with 0.001% chance of dropping, but besides that Warframe constantly shows that it cares more about its community than Destiny 2 as of late, and I don't think its the dev fault like you said i think its the higher ups just trying to get penny they can from new and old players so they can eventually abandon destiny all together and go on to new projects where the can continue the process (even though i really don't want to see that happen to devs that care about there players)

The funniest part about the starter pack is that, not only are they giving you a piss poor amount of materials, but its best weapon (Simil) is already free and buying Shadowkeep through keys can potentially give you the other 2 exotics for 1/3 of the price with all the DLC content, including the mini-campaing. Great job suit guys, you did it again

It is so hard to be optimistic about bungie and this game that was a big part of my life that even if i managed to tear myself away from, still allow myself to enter now and then... just no. Like, im not gonna leave the game but once again, im reaffirmed in not giving another CENT to bungie.

A quick heads up for the Coil activity. Platinum rewards don't go of of score, it all is tied to chests and the max score required for the last chest to open is 100k. The glass collector is not required, but it gives you some room for mistakes. In order to get the first chest you have to get to 7.5k, which means that you have to get ALL the pots in the first room (after the first drop in the platforming encounter look to the left of you, you will see 2 pots in there). Also as a quick tip: Void Titan with peregrine grives one shots wizards in both the ogre and the last knight fight, use that it makes the fight so much less of a headache.
And remember: "GET ALL THE POTS"

If they're not already working on a new engine they're toast. Idk why anyone thinks we need all these sandbox changes instead of more content, feels like they're wasting time on stuff nobody cares about.

I try to keep my criticism as objective as possible, and give credit when credit is due, but holy hell is Datto spot on with this feedback. They apparently will never learn. The ones signing off on these decisions will also likely never bother to watch a video like this, and if anyone close to them does and brings it to their attention, I imagine they have a multitude of mental gymnastics and justifications that they run through to avoid facing the truth.

Final minutes were amazing I have never seen datto this angry ever, but he has absolutely reason to be
Playing coil with 1 friend we ended up opting to go into private and 2 man it over matchmaking because the blueberries kept both skipping past the jars and pulling us and eating up MASS amount of revives(like 1 dude used up 17 b4 the 3rd phase, the spikes didn't agree with him, and guy was x10 guilded flawless so you'd think he'd know how to stay alive). Then when we went in with a 3rd friend who got booted right b4 the round 4 boss the spot was immediately filled by a blueberry who was able to just slip in and get the platinum doing none of the work, something changing to private fixes allowing your friend to rejoin. That means some ppl will end up just backing out endlessly and checking the score to find a run towards the end and hop in there. So while the coil is a fun and EXTREMLY rewarding experience(finally, alloys in current and worthwhile activities) in a team, it's kinda frustrating with blueberries.
Damn, I felt that on a level I haven't felt anything from in a very long time.
I just can't get over the fact that it's been 5 years and 400-500$ in content since this game has gotten a new round of enemies

Joe's talked about this before. They aren't going to introduce new rank and file enemies we just obliterate, which is why they focus on big dudes like tormentors and lucent hive etc.

warframe has no problem adding more enemy types and factions constantly, no reason bungie can't do it (they don't do it because they can't monetize it)

7:59 its a seven month long season, even if you don't try very hard just doing the seasonal activity once or twice a day will get you all the crafted weapons long before the season is over. don't rush and don't burn out Guardians.

It is too late. I think a lot of us have reached a stage of perpetual burnout and fatigue. The seasonal model is just stale and it shows here. Couple minutes of dialog, run x number of activities, talk to whoever again, claim engram at the end, listen to radio.
Now we have to deal with all of this in a pretty terrible PvE sandbox due to the ability nerfs. It feels bad to play. The nerf to Throwing Hammer is the most brain dead method they could have chosen instead of nerfing the actual build that was causing them concern (dungeon DPS with Tractor Cannon, Synthoceps, etc.).
It honestly makes me want to play the game even less. They are killing the fun in the game at a time when the game is already 'dying'. Would not be surprised if the player count drops even lower than before.

Deep dives, spire, and the coil were almost definitely designed with in-game LFG in mind. Most of the negative feedback is a result of not having that feature, and not a problem with activity itself.
was just talking to my buddy about the coil. I think they should go all in on this looping gradually more and more difficult, rouge-lite-ish concept. Like do some more mechanically challenging encounters, more randomization, more perks/upgrades per encounter, maybe more interesting jumping encounters. Make some interesting rewards to chase, maybe higher tier completions means exclusive weapons/armor, etc. Then make some leaderboards for all time high scores or something. Then take all this and replace gambit - would be a cool mode
And make it endless with enemies scaling up to +50 above your power. That way we can really flex our builds to the limit 👍

What you're describing is what I was hoping from the infinite forest before curse of Osiris dropped.
Try Warframe. We have exactly this and it is a pretty mid flex in current year. Your character goes up to level 30 and enemies go to level 9999. Level capping ourselves is how we test builds to see if they are viable.

Yes I'm glad you mention how dumb the starter pack is. The fact that they couldn't even be bothered to throw in the current season with it said a lot. It's horrible, new players are gonna get tricked by it and be turned off from the game.
I could be wrong but they did something like this for Plunder and it came with the season for arc 3.0. They gave an exotic armor, dreaming city armor, and thunderlord but it came with the season! This is just blatant money grabbing and it's not even 5 buck its 15!!!

i had so much fun in the coil today. after the first round one of my (matchmade) teammates left because of the quest probably, so i was left with the other guy to continue. he was a stasislock, i was a caliban hunter. our 20ish remaining revives were wittled away until we had none left, (most of them the trap room lmao) which was also when we reached the final. it took a while, but after probably 10 minutes of chipping away at this boss we eventually knocked it out. it was perfect, we both got ascendant alloys, and we even friended each other afterward! the difficulty is very reasonable imo, and it took us an hour but with a full team i bet it would go by a lot faster. this was genuinely one of the most amazing non raid/dungeon experiences ive ever had in this game
Ngl Riven having a voice is really heart breaking for me, i loved the unique characterization of Ahamkara as wish dragons that tempt you with the voice of others :(
Well I guess they still do very easily. I suppose it gives them more depth, but we don’t get to see it directly anymore unless it’s projected onto another character she trusts less. So… I get it.

That was her Siren, what she used to manipulate uldren. It worked on him cause mara was everything to him (because she's a control freak) it's why we hear so many voices, there are so many that we care about

God, the speed with which I'd click a video showing Datto's facecam recording those last few minutes.
I wasn't entirely stoked for Blind Well. BUT, all the weapons that drop from it, have had their perk pools refreshed, and now come with a new origin perk, so I was really excited to see that. I know a lot of people just auto dismantle those things, so be sure to actually look at those weapons as they're now S23 equivalent and no longer dropping the old variants. Tigerspite now even drops with Kinetic Tremors which feels REALLY nice to use. Not sure what made them do the "silent refresh" of these weapons but it's greatly appreciated.
The first Blind Well I did gave Dreaming City weapons. The second, third, and fourth completion ALL season 20 season of defiance weapons... what's up with that?
@@jonahbrown5669 I’m pretty sure it gives from S20 to S23 weapons, including the dreaming city weapons. Along with dropping the engrams for those seasons. I’m guessing it was Bungos way of giving more incentive for playing blind well :3
I hadn't really tried out coil, but it seems actually really sick. Will have to give it a shot with some friends to see how we handle it

As of now, the ghost ship and sparrow are also exclusive to the Starter Pack, as well as there being a 1000 silver ($10) shader pack in Eververse.
Great review and about how I felt too. Definitely going to grind coil a bit. I wasn’t aware of the starter pack but it makes no sense. Complete 180 from the arc pack that gave weapons, armor, exotic armor and thunder lord for free and for all three characters 🤦🏽♂️

Last few mins were weirdly cathartic nice to hear the raw emotion. Feel like with how often people turn on him he sticks to facts/keeps it formal glad he let loose.

That last minute and a half was amazing Datto. I gave up after lightfall + the ‘beware over-delivery’ conference and have been keeping up story-wise through UA-cam since then. I can only fathom the frustration you’re feeling rn. But hey, they got a nomination for best community support at the game awards! They must be doing good on that front! What a joke.
Me and a blueberry were able to complete the entire coil in about 66 minutes....A 3rd person would've made it go much faster since our DPS wasn't great...We were both 1804/1805 and by the last tier we had 1 or 2 revives left. It's pretty hard depending on what boss you get at what part. The knight/ogre boss with the prevading darkness is the easier of the bosses in my opinion. One of my favourite seasonal activities since it feels like a dungeon almost. The difficulty is quite nice too.
That is kind of ridiculous how long it takes. I could get the final rewards for altars in ~20 minutes

@@nahqiv I think most activities should be appreciative of people’s time. An hour for a single activity is ridiculous, no matter the game. I’m not saying it shouldn’t exist, but raids and maybe GM’s should be the only ones in the game.

Well the end took a turn I didn’t see coming 😳. Had to look up to see if I was still watching the same video 😂
My only issue with the coil was that after alters of summoning and the way the quest step was set up, it looked like an infinite going, leave when you want game mode. It was a fun surprise when we actually completed the coil for the first time but it sucks that there's going to be people like us who might not figure that out especially with the difficulty ramp up
Yeah I was hoping it'd be like SP circuit in WF if it was endless I'd play tf out of this
