MACRO EXTENSION TUBES: MACRO ON A BUDGET

This month I was working with macro gear and wound up with a Canon EF 25 2 extension tube. These tubes are CHEAP, running from maybe $50 or so for a set of 3 to a fully compatible name brand tube for $150 or so. That’s a lot cheaper than a full macro lens and will allow you to “cheat.” By moving the lens physically closer to the subject it will give you a great approximation of a real macro. It will cut your focusing distance down by as much as 60% and getting the front of that lens closer to the subject are the secret to macro photography. Is it the same as a dedicated macro? No. But unless you are a dedicated macro shooter it may be all you need.
