On your own time, you could check out the live performance of Hikaru Nara (光るなら) by Goose House on their own UA-cam channel. You'll know which one it is since it's got 56 million views. They're a pretty cool group.
@@zaimanity8893 yeah I know about play goose. But it sucks that my favorites aren't there. I've always liked d-ize and johnny the most. During quarantine the two got together and uploaded some songs though, which was a welcomed surprise.
It’s the band goose house sing this song not the cast,it’s such a good band formed by seven people but disband several years ago.Btw,they open a new channel called play goose, formed by four people out of original members, they regularly upload some cover songs.Just some infos.
I perfectly understand why this song isn't as much your bag since the main focus definitely feels like it's on the melodic writing for the vocals, but for someone like me who's a freak for great vocal performances and melodic writing, I loved this song since the 1st time I heard it. And although the melodic writing isn't anything groundbreaking, it's just written in such a beautiful and fun way, that it makes it up for me how it can be a bit repetitive (since I'm usually not a big fan of overly repetitive music either). I'm also a massive sucker for good harmonies and they really nail it with all the vocal lines here!
I can’t help but think the opening being as cheery as it is is intentional. At this point in the show it isn’t a tragedy (childhood trauma aside), and is largely about the joy of connecting with others through music and the changes it brings.
Goose house has basically an acoustic version of Hikaru Nara where every member plays an instrument while also singing. I think you should definitely check it out own your own, if not on the channel. It's a nice peek into how their group works
Jesus i couldnt hear this without skiling and crying. Its been a couple years since ive last seen it, but ive seen this how at least 5 times. I know the internet is a sacred place where noone lies, but this show tears me up everytime i watch it. If you haven't seen it and you need a great cry, this will hit ya.
Know how's it feels like, man. It's been years ago, and I still cannot listen to Shigatsu no Uso OSTs without an overwhelming wave of emotions. Interesting, how this easy going slice of life series without any really unexpected twists easily broke mental health of so many people.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Very interestingly, there is a channel on UA-cam which checked the accuracy of the way the play the piano in the anime. And they said that it is basically perfectly presented.
I don't think it's very often that original voice actors from the show also sing the openings. Notable example would be Bakemonogatari. Each arc has it's own opening sung by the character the arc revolves around. Great stuff and great openings!
Brooo whattt finally, was waiting for this one since I have started watching your channel, in fact commented on some videos too for this songs reaction... Can't wait...❤❤❤
I have never managed to do a full rewatch of this show. By the middle my mentality crumbles and I can't do it again. I was depressed for weeks after I first saw it.
The one making this video just assigned a character to the band members to show how the dynamic of the song goes as far as how they arranged the voices. Also I have not seen the anime yet I've always loved the song, and I have also said stuff like "It's too popy for my" but when it's done well and it's just enjoyable, or has these dynamics, goes powerful or slow and sweet when it has to it will be likeable no matter what.
As someone who hasn't seen the show, I've always found this piece to be incredibly emotionally resonant, even without the context of the show. And I think a big portion of it is the choir element. That is not to say each individual voice isn't good enough, but the coming together of half-a-dozen voices in something of a crescendo just gives me goosebumps.
For your videos outside of anime, Brian Tyler's F1 Theme performed live with the London Philharmonic Orchestra is an astounding example of capturing the emotions of motorsport into music.
Your Lie in April was the first anime series I watched and Hikaru Nara was the first anime opening I fell in love with. Still a song that I just cannot resist dancing to.
I watched this years ago based on one of my guitar student's recommendation and it was great. I just watched it again recently. I was kind of hoping this would be a reaction to the music performances of the competitions. I thought it was interesting how whoever recorded the piano parts had to also act. Like play the pieces with different emotions.
I've been listening to the OP and ED for weeks now nonstop. It's so great to see my favorite music reactor make time to give proper respect to the simple yet beautifully organic music of YLiA
I'm very glad you've seen the show and listening this intro! I loved the show. This song always makes makes me a bit teary eyed as it brings back memories of the show. Dont know about anyone else
The thing that makes Your Lie in April memorable to me is the music and it started with OP1 (then the classical pieces played later on.) I do agree that it's a bit poppy but some parts that stood out to me were the vocals esp. in the bridge and outro, and of course the catchy intro/outro instrumental. Overall, I just find the song quite easy to listen to and sing along. Their acoustic version is also great as well. Would also recommend their other song - Oto no naru hou e esp. their live acoustic version as well. Such a fun song that gives happy vibes.
I actually find it most effective when the chord progression and lyrics conflict. I find songs in major key much sadder than actual ballads for some reason. Especially when you tie it to a incredibly tragic story. To this day, this song destroys me emotionally. lol
I remember that before watching Shigatsu wa kimi no use, I had seen Tamako Market, a super calm and happy anime, and I really wanted to continue down that path, but I came across some of the saddest things I've ever seen in my life, I wasn't ready to nothing prepared, I thought it was a super happy music anime, but it hit me with a mountain. I'm not going to give more details about it, but my god, this opening is really misleading hahahaha. Greetings from Argentina!
I'd like to see what you think of the OP and especially the ED for Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, gorgeous music, the ED has a reputation for being an emotional bunker buster, and I tend to agree.
Throw on Amanda Lee & Dima Lancaster's English rendition/compilation of all OPs + EDs for Your Lie when you get a few minutes. Even years after watching the show, that can still bring back all those emotions.
I really like your take on anime music! As a bass player, I would love some reactions to songs where the bass is the protagonist. Like the 1st ending of kekkai sensen (sugar song to bitter step) of the OP of yamada-kun to 7-nin no majo (kuchizuke diamond).
I feel the lyrics fit the feel of the song pretty well actually for this one you want one that is complete opposite check out "the song that ticks away time" the OP from Clannad After Story. It's music is a beautiful happy sounding piano but with lyrics that match the show perfectly.
I really enjoy how unaware a non-Japanese speaker could be to how pretty depressing the song's undertones are. Kinda makes ya think the song is lying to you...
I would have loved to see you react to the live version sung by the band! It's the highest viewed video on the goosehouse youtube channel, if you want to check it out.

Hi Tony, i highly recommend you check out songs from Anohana" the flower we've seen that day", very iconic opening and ending, very very emotional, i experienced both songs without having experienced the show especially the ending "aoi shiori" by Galileo Galilei, so good... Also opening had me cried even though i have never watched the show, i still haven't, i probably not going to watch it
Late for the party but glad to see your reaction... This opening reminds me of death parade where the opening is also upbeat but the story is...not😂 (no spoilers to who haven't watched it yet)
Hey, would you react to Rogue Wave vs Jairo? It's a tag team battle, making it slightly more complicated than the normal beatboxing. Plus this matchup is very interesting with amazing techniques on one side compared to musicality on the other side.
