    Do surgeries like this affect the ability to sing? Not like the ability to sing low, obv that will be different. But like dows it affect the quality of voice negatively?

    Kann man nach der Op singen?

    • @medicalvoicecenter
      @medicalvoicecenter  Рік тому +12

      Ja, man kann singen. Wir haben eine gesangspädagogin im Hause, die speziell mit der Stimme nach einer Glottoplastik arbeitet. Allerdings würden wir professionellen Opernsängerinnen den Eingriff nicht empfehlen.

      Does your singing voice change? Like just starting off in a higher pitch. I know that range isn't changed , but is the general octave higher/feminine? Thanks

    Why is it that you only have voice feminization surgery before and after, but no voice masculinization surgery? Is it because you don't do them as often or because the result is worse than with VFS? It's surprising to me that you don't even have one VMS before and after.

    • @medicalvoicecenter
      @medicalvoicecenter  Рік тому +3

      Yes, you are right. We have a lot more VFS than VMS. On the other hand trans-women feel themselves as a community and like to help each other by showing the results. Men with a VDS don't want to tell this in public and in nearly all cases they reject to publish their results - not even annonymous.

    • @qlowquest
      @qlowquest Рік тому +17

      its cuz trans men could just go on T to get a deeper voice. while for trans women estrogen doesn’t give them a higher voice, so some retort to having voice feminization surgery

    • @medicalvoicecenter
      @medicalvoicecenter  Рік тому +6

      @@qlowquest The hormone estrogen for transwomen, unlike testosterone for transmen, has no effect on the voice

      @@medicalvoicecenter yes, and that is why some go for surgery

    • @medicalvoicecenter
      @medicalvoicecenter  Рік тому +3

      For one thing, we do a lot more voice feminizations than voice deepenings. The transwomen feel like a community and help each other by gladly having their results published to encourage other women. It is different with the cis men who come to us for voice deepening. They want absolute discretion and they don't want anyone to know they've had surgery. Trans men do not need surgery. By taking testosterone, the voice deepens by itself.

If we're going by this logic we should never have anything not absolutely essential, just the bare minimum a human needs to live. The phone/computer/TV you used to write this comment is a luxury, some people don't have that, so why do you have it?

      What? Being dysphoric means that an attribute of one's self actively causes harm to the person. This is a procedure that objectively improves quality of life and does not harm anyone in the process. Seriously, what's your point here? We should stop all medical treatments because "some people have it worse"?
