The 3d animation makes it looks so easy. Imagine if the part of the actual surgery that involves cutting parts of the skull is as easy as cutting a birthday cake.
It kind of is. The cutting is the easy bit, there are tons of plates and guides there to facilitate it. The setup to that point and wound closure after is the hard bit
I just looked up some real surgery footage here on YT and yeah, its way more brutal than cutting a cake. One they had to get like a mini crow bar and pry out the middle of the brow 😭
I thought they were just filing off some excess bone but this is indeed brutal. I’ve seen some animations on the genital surgery, that’s equally crazy!

I worked super hard for years to achieve this and seeing how brutally hard this surgery and the recovery is, I feel confused on why there would be people that still say that transgender is a choice, because is not. I am super happy with the results and if I was told if I would ever do this surgery again seeing how happy these results made me, I sure would. ❤️
I am a 18 year veteran of working as a surgical tech. It was awe inspiring watching this, but from a different perspective. Reconstruction after facial trauma. It looks like a lot more can be done for you using this technique.
I have been a makeup artist with a degree in visual and experience treating trauma. I get tremendous satisfaction treating these people. I do one side, they do the other. Them they live with it before buying anything.
Getting all of this done at once is HECTIC. they’ve basically separated the whole face from the scull 😭 pleeeease tell me they don’t do this all in one go.
I am a retired OR RN; for an elective procedure, I think 8 hours is going to be the max time under anesthesia. In other words, these procedures are done in steps. One procedure at a time. (I haven't assisted with this particular type of surgery) I HAVE assisted with many, many cosmetic and dental procedures, sinus surgery, eye and neurosurgery. A full face and neck lift, with upper and lower eyelid lifts takes almost 8 hours. Add a forehead lift, it WILL take 8 hours. The amount of stress and physical trauma (surgery is PLANNED trauma) to the body is significant! When someone is injured extensively, with multiple injuries, a plan is decided. Some things can be temporarily stabilized, so critical repairs and support can be done right away. Then they go back to surgery for the next steps. Tolerating all of that is going to depend on the overall health and age of the patient. Everyone is different. People respond differently to stress on the body. I would never, ever, advocate for these procedures. Who "you" are is NOT your body. Unless you're ill or 'broken' your physical body does everything possible to give you the best life: be good to your body. Treat it well --- with a healthy diet and lifestyle. Take care of your teeth and feet. Wear your seatbelt. Have your annual checkups. Listen to what you learn about your health from your provider, and ask questions if you don't understand. Consult with your doc or nutritionist provider to plan what vitamin and mineral supplements will nourish you best. Don't smoke anything. Drink alcohol sparingly. The benefits will really come into play when you're 70. All the care you've given your body will payoff then, in spades. I'm 70 and did that. When I look at others my age, I can really tell who has done preventive maintenance --- it shows. Your body is your willing servant, and should be treated with respect and care. Don't damage it, and for God's sake, don't punish it with this unnecessary abuse! Trust me, this type of surgery is brutal, bloody, VERY painful, and good results are NOT guaranteed!!! Look at all the critical structures adjacent to the work being done: the sinuses, brain, eyes, teeth, tongue, and jaws....use your imagination and think what could happen if just ONE of those places gets infected, bleeds after the surgery, has nerve damage...or later in life you take a fall and smack your jaw or forehead! If any of those places on your head has problems, it could mean another surgery. ----And I don't know if insurance would cover this. My guess is not.
I got all of this plus a breast augmentation, lip lift, rhinoplasty and tracheal shave. Breast augmentation was by far the most pain I felt post op. Most annoying part of recovering from FFs is the swelling. It took nearly a year to go down completely. Mentally it's hard to wait for the finished results when you look worse than before after spending ten thousands of dollars to get ride of your male features. Still worth though
@@selfproclaimedcowboy8587 How is that not a mental illness? like I'm coming from a place of love because I worry about people like you. You should love your body. While you are a boy as gender is in your head (as I'm guessing you are a trans man). I don't believe cutting bits of your body off you dislike as mentally healthy and is just suppressing other deeper issues. I hope you reconsider this permanent change.
@robertk3929 Please don’t take that comment seriously. But anyways, i’ll try to explain for you. Gender dysphoria in itself is not a mental illness, it’s more of an emotion. Of course if left alone it can result in serious mental illness, like depression. But the reason most transgender people want to change their bodies is because of society, not mental illness. We’re treated like something we’re not because of certain body parts, so of course we don’t like those body parts. Not only do those body parts cause us to be treated weirdly, but they also make us feel really different from other people. So I guess that’s the deep meaning behind it, but let’s be honest it’s really not deep. I’m assuming you’re a man as your name is robert, but imagine one day you woke up with female body parts. If we ignore the fact that that’s impossible, you’d probably feel pretty unhappy. When everyone around you is treated like a man for having male body parts and your being treated like a woman for having female body parts despite looking, acting, and dressing like a man, having “self love” isn’t possible. The real question is, why is it that when transgender people have “sex change” operations or hrt for our own well being were considered mentally ill, but when cisgender people have operations simply because they want to make themselves attractive it’s completely fine?
Wow. Thank God that I don’t need this surgery. My very best wishes for anyone who is undergoing this, and may your recovery be smooth. Hard to take the idea that people are transgender for “attention” seriously. This takes guts (not balls, of course). Gender dysphoria is a very real, very difficult thing.
* Though I have no necessity for FFS, this type of pre-op video should be standard for every patient so that they can fully comprehend what will be their surgery. *
yo I'd probably be too scared to do the surgery afterwards! I've had an extraction of a growth on my _skin_ yet I'd probably still be too freaked out if I saw even an animation before.. but I can't say your idea isn't amazing nonetheless.
Thank god, I'm happy with who I'm and what I have... omg can't believe people have to go through this.. even tho they are asleep during surgery but still...

I had no clue what the outlines for the chin one were for at first at all. I could guess how the other procedures would go but the chin one was definitely interesting to see. Wonderful!
I'm a trans woman and have done surgery on my forehead, nose and brow lift to look female. I did those at Chettawut in Thailand. Amazing surgeon. The recovery wasn't physically painful, but very emotionally stressful cause you look very different right after the surgery with temporary swelling etc. After 2 weeks I began to appreciate the results and those procedures have really helped to pass as a female. Hormones don't a lot for us when starting after puberty, so facial feminization helps a lot!
i thought u cant define a women? so why can looks be feminine? if u ask many LGBTQ advocates they will tell u that they dont know what a women is. So based on that feminine looks are just a construct and not real. U can look like a normal grown men and still be a women based on that logic.
I've seen Chettawatts work he is amazing! I never wanted to do any kind of FFS until I saw his results in the flesh from other girls. Hands down the best. I would 100% go to him.
According to everything i heard, it doesn’t necessarily HURT a lot, but it IS extremely uncomfortable for the first week, due to a lot of swelling literally everywhere in your face. After the first week or so, it’s much more bearable, and you make a full recovery in a couple more weeks. Surprising, but the recovery is not THAT bad!
@@blurb8397 --- I don't know where you 'heard' what you wrote, but let me say it's NOT a walk in the park!!! Anyone who says so is lying to you. It's not "minor surgery" no matter what someone tells you: Your head has an extensive blood supply, lots and lots of muscles, miles of nerves, and many critical structures. It means blood loss, aching jaw and forehead, and a major change to your skull strength. Each of those procedures is done one at a time. A nose job is one of the most easily messed up surgeries performed. They didn't show that one because it involves rasps, chisels, and 'peeling back' the skin covering your nose. I've seen patients who were having their SIXTH, SEVENTH, or EIGHTH surgery to correct a bad nose job....from 'some other' doctor. If it isn't broken, don't mess with it. Instead, Google "botched cosmetic surgery" and look at all the people who now have deformed faces and nerve damage. If that doesn't convince you, look up a video of the surgery on a real patient. Therapy is cheaper, and addresses the reasons why you think changing your appearance will solve all your problems.
I had this done 20 years ago. It was painful but hospital made sure I was comfortable. The surgery changed my life. I am passable consistently regardless of clothing, makeup, etc. “FFS: the gift that keeps on giving”.
There are also facial exercises that you should do before the surgery to improve the thinning of the nose, rising fat of the cheeks and forehead, shortening of the philtrum, and many body related exercises as mobility may be decreased after surgery.
@Namir Deshmukh Not sure what you mean by that question. I was expressing that exercise cannot change the shape of someone's nose. Nolan said there are facial exercises you can do to improve the shape of the nose. The nose consists of bone and cartilage. There is no muscle to work.
@Namir Deshmukh Some people want to change their nose. Just like anything else I guess. Nose work is pretty common on FFS. I would say the 3 most common would be the brow, mandible, and nose
@@Rising_Pho3nix_23 I get your point. It’s more about massaging the cartilage and stretching the muscles in the face and neck. The word exercise was mainly focused on post op conditions. (I was also considering that this might not be the only surgery. There might be more trans related surgeries involved) And if there was a massage that could change bone, this video wouldn’t exist in the first place.
just had this done last week, the hardest part is the hunger. i can't eat normally for another week and it's costing me sleep but it's extremely worth it. people say this looks scary but you're asleep the entire time. i live in washington and i got it covered under kaiser.
Its a destructive tendency. When implemented, its main purpose is to support a money making industry. A life of trying to pass as a woman requires a lot work. Suicide rates are highest after surgery.

Question for anyone who’s has this or any similar done: do you feel all the metal in your skin? Or is it just for a while until you get used to it? Very interesting.
Haven't had anything like this done on my face, but I've had metal reconstructive work elsewhere and in my case, it's the latter. It's uncomfortable for a little bit, but the added metal acclimates quicker than you'd think
I had this done, though I don't have any plates. My surgeon just used titanium wire that held my forehead together until the bone healed. Anyways no, I never felt any of the wire inside. On the whole it was a surprisingly easy recovery. I walked 2 hours a day for the first month starting the day after surgery (doctor's orders).
I had incredibly minor surgery on a hernia and was nearly in tears while they were putting me under. I have serious reservations about letting someone else be in control of my body. There is a saying in the business, "There is no part of the body that can't be reached with a strong arm and a 14G needle." So tell me, does it take a strong stomach to go to the market and pick up a side of baby back ribs? Same thing.

If you can't watch the regular surgery video, you shouldn't consider it nor endorse it. If you really support this sort of thing, then you should know the consequences and what actually has to be done. If you endorse it for other people you should at least be able to stomach what is being done to them. It shouldn't have to be digestible. You don't teach people about the consequences of reckless driving by never showing them what car accidents look like. What people look like when we have to scrape them off the road. I'm sure you live in a walkable city though.
There’s the minor chance to touch some nerve in your forehead that controls eyelid function or the muscles around the eye but there’s no chance of damaging your actual eye unless something very drastic goes wrong.
Doctor O did mine ("The Works...") in 2007; truthfully, I slept through the entire procedure. Recovery was tough...worse was the nose splints he used to keep the nasal passages open until healed, probably 5 days. Was such a relief to get the nose packing out. Would I do it again? In retrospect, yes, but I'm dialling out all the discomfort involved. Memory of the discomfort fades, the results stay. Took about a year for everything to finally settle in. Co-workers said "you look tired"...well, yeah. Thanks for putting the process to an animation - nice to see what was involved.

Rather than destroying that forehead area, I wonder if they could just insert a gel pad to make the forehead more bulby and less flat, cavemanish. It seems too delicate an area to mess around with. You might have eye problems, headaches, infections that get into the brain. Always try the least invasive paths first.
@@mjt1517 , I’m not trying to help doctors. They’re in it for the money, and are more likely to suggest the most expensive procedure. It is just good sense to explore other options first, especially if they’re less dangerous.
@@andicantu6490 a gel pad would not be permanent and would have to be replaced every couple of years (like any sort of implant needs to be). Permanent Surgery is the most efficient and probably long term least invasive option
Andi, that is exactly one of the options to deal with feminization of the forehead. Sometimes adding material is better, and sometimes removing is better. Your doctor can discuss your options with you.
That’s actually a thing! They don’t use gel though, they use bone paste. It’s called a type 2 forehead reconstruction, and in some cases it’s the better option, but for most cases adding material causes the forehead to look strange and doesn’t help the situation. The procedure in the video is a type 3 reconstruction, and one of the reasons to reduce it is to reduce shadows cast by the brow bone onto the face, which can cause the face to look more masculine. Reducing the forehead also improves rhinoplasty results as it can meet the nose at a more feminine angle. Type 3 is also the best option when it comes to structural integrity as you’re not reducing the thickness of the bone like in Type 1. Type 1 is where they just grind the bone down to make it more flat. 99% of cases it’s not the best option, though, as you can’t take away as much of the bump before getting to the limit of how thin the bone can be. I had a friend who got a type 1 done 5 years ago and her results look great but her upper sinus is now paper thin. Luckily she hasn’t had complications from it, though!
Honestly amazing how careful and catered this surgery is! I see a lot of ppl commenting on the lack of grotesqueness seen here when the nature of videos like these are to educate a general audience. So adding graphic details is unnessecary and harmful for those it's catered for. That aside it's really neat! I like how they showed the whole setup of what the patient is being put on and the size of the team may be accompanying her surgery
Interesting. Seems like a lot to go through...but I have to ask myself what would I be willing to go through to achieve my idea of beautiful. This is the same for them. I'm happy for them.
Part of it has to do with self image, a huge part of it has to do with how others perceive you. Like literal safety. Pretty privilege is already a thing, it's proven that good looking people are more likely to have better pay, jobs, positions, better interactions with strangers, for trans people it's even more true.

The recovery wasn't physically painful, but very emotionally stressful cause you look very different right after the surgery with temporary swelling etc. After 2 weeks I began to appreciate the results and those procedures have really helped to pass as a female. Hormones don't a lot for us when starting after puberty, so facial feminization helps a lot!

i thought u cant define a women? so why can looks be feminine? if u ask many LGBTQ advocates they will tell u that they dont know what a women is. So based on that feminine looks are just a construct and not real. U can look like a normal grown men and still be a women based on that logic.

This looks absolutely brutal, I can’t even start to imagine how it feels for the patient
It's not "minor surgery" no matter what someone tells you:
Your head has an extensive blood supply, lots and lots of muscles, miles of nerves, and many critical structures.

There are also facial exercises that you should do before the surgery to improve the thinning of the nose, rising fat of the cheeks and forehead, shortening of the philtrum, and many body related exercises as mobility may be decreased after surgery.
Please tell me bro that excercise I am suffering from big brow bosser 😞
Because some weight lifting can change the shape of bone and cartilage in the nose? r/badwomensanatomy
The world should have a lot of respect for trans girl , just to be so strong and brave to do this surgeons , just to be accepted for society as real woman
Thank you for the creator for this amazing content
How many surgeries are required to complete the transformation?
not self experience but i'd say a lot , people can do even 20+ surgeries just to feel happy being themsevles. It's insane
If you need this surgery for you to find peace between your body and mind... We're with you. And you're awesome
It's called a mental illness. Pray to God. Visit a psychiatrist
@@dubscheckum8246 paying to fictional beings that cannot be seen or measured in any way is mental ill. Seek help if you start hearing voices
That's exactly what the surgery is for.
Our girls of double spirit are SO brave. 🥺💜
this may sound silly but people survive after this surgery right? do they perform it on alive patients
dude fell asleep during the sleepover, wakes up being astolfo
Thanks ^^ I do art as hobby and this video helped me with head different in gender
I want a surgery for the back part of My head, it is flat du :'(
Does someone know if this surgery exist?
Y'all think this is bad? I've seen one that was animated showing how gender reassignment surgery works. I couldn't finish the video on account of my junk hurting.
yup,
and when you get it you cant walk for 2 or 3 weeks afterward's, is fun.
Damn. I follow a voice actress who got facial feminization surgery in December, I didnt realize it was this intense..
I made it two minutes in…. Big love to anyone watching this pre surgery ❤️❤️❤️
As a trans person, I think it's incredible that we have the technology to perform these kinds of procedures and I am very grateful for them. That said, this animation was deeply disturbing and I regret watching it. Very glad that I'm transmasc and so there really isn't any bone work that I feel needs to be done to make myself more comfortable lmao

POV you fall asleep first in the sleepover.
Ever since the “POV:You’re the first one to fall asleep on sleepover (Rookie Mistake” meme I get recommended these weird surgery animations.
Needed to learn this for a sleep over, thank you.
This is both insane how it’s possible and a complete nightmare at the same time
Do they just discard the bone fragments after taking them out?
They are obviously collected and used in further medical products. Enjoy globalization.
Wow, I didn't realize how much is done through the mouth! This is fascinating!
This video is amazing, yet also triggers my dysphoria!
I just want this so so so bad! I don't care what I have to do to get it! Please! I need this surgery!!! Please please please please!!!! 🥺😭😢
Please get psychiatric help. If you want this you have gender dysphoria.
@@Mortolich Or you could maybe… leave them alone. If they want to do this there’s literally no reason to be rude to them. You could just wish them good healing after the surgery and move on.
Extraordinary animation. What an education this is. Thanks!
Rather than destroying that forehead area, I wonder if they could just insert a gel pad to make the forehead more bulby and less flat, cavemanish. It seems too delicate an area to mess around with. You might have eye problems, headaches, infections that get into the brain. Always try the least invasive paths first.
I’m sure the medical doctors who have worked for years perfecting their skills really need your uneducated help.
How did they take off the skin on the forehead like isn't there any more tissue under the skin or is it really just bone????

Fr, some of these comments make me lose faith.
Yeah, you wouldn't want to get out of the grooming eco chamber and spiral back down into depression would you now?

Almost no pain but you’re swollen for months.
I can hardly imagine how difficult this surgery is in real life.

That’s amazing! Do they do this all at once?
