The Number One Myme You never know. While I love equality and gender identity gaining ground, it does scare me to death that there’s a minority really looking for any excuse to feel offended, or to use you lack of understanding of a topic to accuse you of anti trans, anti gay pr anti whatever.

@@vanessawestbrook9846 It's alright :) Going to a psychologist is the first step to your transition (at least where I live) because they have to judge wether you are 'actually trans' or not. If they decide you cannot transition, that's the end of your journey for then. Without the 'Go' from a psychologist, you can't get access to hormone therapy.
My brothers psychologist didn't understand that he needed time to open up, so she instead decided that he was not cooperative and judged him based on the fact he didn't talk much in the first sessions. She was a dick to him and denied him access to testosterone.
Now, my brother is so discouraged he hasn't tried again... And it's harder to get approval for Testosterone after you already got a 'no'.

The suicide rate is over the top. Often, the changes are not working well and complications prevail. They do it because it is available and actually now, it is also " fashionable ". Years ago, girls who thought they wanted to be guys, were labeled "tomboys" ; they got over it, when their natural hormones kicked in. We had one cute little lesbian girl who decided she was going through the change. She did the testosterone, cut her breasts and had an hysterectomy. Nothing below. She/He became unreliable, as he could not show up for work, on time but made excuses about some personal issues. By then he was visibly a guy, with lots of tattoos , whiskers and a deep voice. He got hooked on hard drugs and died, crossing a busy street. We do not know if it was suicide or just confusion. He was a mess ! Why did he not stay a girl with the homosexual tendencies ? We did not care, as we loved him either way. It is OK to be gay ! I see a phobia with transgenders who would prefer to be seen as " normal ", so they may actually be homophobes, we enable to make such radical changes. The surgeons make money......Hospitals make money. So, we go full speed ahead. Destroy functioning body parts for dubious results and see how far we can go with this, when people are dying of starvation, somewhere on the planet, not having enough food to survive. Here, we worry about complying with the issue of expandable sexual identity. Is that off the chart ? Priorities in the wrong places.

I'm so happy for Jammidodger. From the time I was a child, I knew that I didn't 'feel like a girl', though born with female genitalia. Having been born in 1956, nothing was really known about being transgender, and most adults believed it was 'just a phase' for a girl 'being a tomboy'. As a very young child, my mother insisted on dressing me in frilly dresses and patent leather shoes. I was told to sit quietly while my brother and cousins were outdoors being rambunctious during family holiday visits, and I loathed it. As soon as focus was redirected, I was off sneaking some of my brother's jeans and a tee and tennis shoes, dressing in them, putting my head under the faucet to straighten out the curls, and outside playing, and it always brought me a world of hurt when the relatives went home.
Dress code at school was dresses or skirts and blouses for girls, with no exception. I was thrilled when preparing to start high school because the dress codes loosened, and I could finally wear jeans or cords to school. I still had to wear a dress or skirt on Sundays, because the Mormon church requires it for girls and women. How I envied my brothers their suits and ties, or even slacks, white button down shirts and ties. And the Mormons are extremely non supportive of LGBTQ or non binary people. I did what I was pretty much forced to do, under the circumstances of when and how I was raised, and I married a man when I was 24 years old, and gave birth to a son. I've remained married, and my husband and son both know who I am, and how I am. I've lived a lie for decades, but I do love them both and would never leave them. And so I've never been able to live my authentic life.
I'm filled with pride and happiness for every Trans person who moved heaven and earth to achieve their dream, to be who they were. Whoever you are out there, I love you and support you, and rejoice in your happiness and successes, and weep when so many people are cruel, vindictive, and dismissive.

''Ordinary'' violence is therefore ''jokes'' like ''I am a combat helicopter'' and all the variations, questions that are too intimate, because we are seen as ''things'' and not human beings deserving respect and benevolence; it is also the remarks behind our backs, the refusal of jobs, housing, while until the visualization of our identity documents before the legal change... more or less rapid change depending on the country, and sometimes impossible . I live in France, and until 2017, to change the M to F on the identity card, the judges could require (and systematically did) proof that we were operated on at the genital level, with a minimum size for , I quote, ''to allow penetration'' (even if we explain to them that it does not concern us! ), and the second objective in the requirement of these surgeries was to castrate us...

The voice is really amazing, he's so lucky it turned out that way, also a real Adam's apple, I don't know how he pulled that off :)) He never looked like a girl/woman to begin with, so his chances to turn out to look that great were very high from the start. And finding your soulmate on top of all that...he sure is one lucky bastard!:) When I look at the early pictures of your relationship I am getting past-life connections here. She might have been your mother in a previous life, honestly, the way she looks after you and everything. LIfe's such a miracle.

My daughter has friends that are trans (all pre T because their still quite young) and I try to educate myself as much as I can. @@emenemett no need to apologize, you’re all good.
Because an afab (assigned female at birth) person does not naturally produce testosterone, they’ll need to keep taking T for their entire life if they want to keep their appearance- stopping it would result in facial hair stopping growing, breasts beginning to form again, etc.
Also, someone doesn’t need to take T shots only, many use other forms such as pills or gel- Jamie for example switched to gel not too long ago.

that's actually not exactly how it works: testosterone doesn't affect breasts once they've grown in (once once you've had them removed, estrogen won't bring them back) and things like facial hair and voice are permanent changes. but some changes, like fat redistribution and muscle growth, aren't permanent and will revert. but facial hair sticks around :)
