The Galactic Republic’s would’ve fallen to the numerous threats in the Galaxy, if it didn’t have the Hammerheads family. The Hammerheads were a tried test warship that didn’t need much to help end battles and win wars. The Hammerhead was by far the iconic warships that the Galactic Republic’s Navy could produce, and they deserve more respect than what the Galactic Republic’s during the Clone Wars ignored this tried tested design. Though considering that the Galactic Empire tried to eased several Republic era records these Hammerhead were used in the Rebel Alliance to restore the very Government that these ships saved countless times.

dreadnaught heavy cruser deserves some love (i've been loving them in sweaw fall of the republic due to how solid they are as a frigate)
I believe that they are a light cruiser. That doesn’t justify a 10,000 sailor crew though.
Yeah, they need more love. Still packing a punch hundreds of years after they were built. Though they don’t seem oddly fragile for me in EAW Remake
Venators still look nicer and more...powerful, straightforward, streamlined, standardized, and official.
They're essentially aircraft carriers.

How about the Republic Attack Shuttle? It was in the Clone Wars but had very few screen time.
It also had an appearance in Darth Vader and Lost Command.

Well, it might not have the Hammer Heads longevity, but the Venators at least look cooler so they got that going for them.

@@Shadeem Yeah that sucked. Replacing the Venators with the Star Destroyers was probably the Empire's biggest mistake. Sure they looked scary, but when it came to effectiveness they had issues. The Venators were both cool and effective.
That Hammerhead in Rogue One was one of many unsung heroes in that movie.

One of my all time fave SW Ships, bar none. It was beautifully designed from the start and infinitely upgradeable.
When it comes to winning a space battle, survivability trumps new toys and behemoth building.
I'd like to have seen a model with strong Ion cannons that used properly, could turn those giant ships into sitting ducks for the bombers to then rip apart.
This magnificent piece of hardware has been my favorite capital ship design for ages, ever since I saw it when i played KOTOR
That tractor beam array came to eventually cost Disney in court costs for star trek; those darn rebels
That Star Destroyer was chugging hard, so the rebels did them a solid by installing more ram.
And to think when I played KOTOR when I was younger, one thing I could not stop thinking was how flimsy the republic cruisers were, given one hammerhead was destroyed by starfighters, and another by a sith interdictor in just a few seconds.
How foolish I was back then
It’s amazing that in a galaxy as vast and old as the Star Wars galaxy that there are ship designs can last for millennia.
Geetsly's, I am very glad that you're branching out from the clone wars. Maybe you'll start covering some post Republic history, like the first galactic civil war, and the imperial civil war more often
Those Centurion class battlecruisers remind me of the Raider class corvettes. Perhaps they were the inspiration for those.
I remember the Hammerheads. I like them a lot, and I was a bit disappointed when I didn't get to take control of the Harbinger in KotOR 2. I actually have a miniature I made of the ship. Though to be honest, if it was a choice between a Lego set of them or the Venator, I'd probably pick the Venator.
If the Real world Sumbmarines several numbers strong is sometimes called a "wolf pack"..
Think a handful of these was referred to a Shark School/Pack or their verse version of sharks???
If it's not broken, don't fix it. Also, if the design still works, just improve on it so to make it much better than it really is.
Empire: that ship is from the days of the old republic. They doesn't stand a chance using that junk.

The hammerhead in Rogue 1 is not from the days of the old republic. It was only a couple decades old by the time of Rogue 1. You're mistaking it for the Hammerhead cruiser from KOTOR, two completely different ships.

Different vessels. Same family. Old republic used cruiser-size hammerheads, then made variants of it. Lightbringer was a corvette class hammerhead, same size as a CR90. Old republic hammerheads were about the size of an acclamator or venator.
@@ASB117 I'm pretty sure that the Hammerhead was around 600m. A Venator is around 1.3km.
The first ones were Praetorian-class, not Hammerhead-class. Some of the other pictures were of Thranta-class & Sphyrna-class. They were all part of the Hammerhead family, but they were different classes. Still, this is a very good video.

Why did they stop using the Hammerheads if they were such effective warships?

The Sith either never realized the potential of this ship or they didn't straight up ignored it and never tried to acquire them somehow and use them against the republic/rebels.
Can you do a video about the Foray class Blockade Runner? It's very hard to find any breakdown of it.
But, aren't the Imperial Star Destroyers just modified Venators? The hammerhead was modified over its millennia of use, so to say the Venator only had 0.003% of the lifespan doesn't seem like a fair comparison

It's interesting a ship like this served the republic for millenia, then Sidious showed up and started pumping out multiple generations of new ships over the course of some movies.
That's because 'this' ship didn't serve for Millenia. This video showcases four entirely different ships. What he did was take all the hammerhead-style ships and lump them together as if it was one single ship. They aren't the same ship serving for ages, they're entirely brand new designs sharing similarities (the hammerhead front) same way a venator and an imperator star destroyer share similar design language despite being two entirely different ships.
The republic introduced new, more advanced ships every several decades or so, same way Palpatine did.
Could you take a look at ships like the Skipray or the Firespray?

Aren’t you confusing the Hammerhead **CRUISER** from the time of the Old Republic’s war with the Sith Empire with the **much smaller** Hammerhead *Corvette* from the much-later Galactic Civil War? The Corvette-though obviously still in the extremely long-lived design lineage of the Old Republic Hammerhead Cruiser--was supposed to screen capital ships from fighters and act in an auxiliary role in support of the Rebel Calamari Home-One Cruisers’ capital-ship battles against Imperial Star Destroyers…
So not only are the Hammerhead Cruiser and Hammerhead Corvette from quite disparate historical periods, but they were also of *very* different sizes, and performed vastly different functions within fleet actions.
