- If there’s a fish that swims, Jay Siemens needs to catch it. In his new series, The Canadian Angle, Jay takes us along for the ride in search of walleye, bass, pike, musky, and everything in-between. New episodes every Friday at 11am MST.
In this episode, Jay Siemens heads South of the border to meet up with Big Bass Guru Oliver Ngy. Together, they fish some small inland lakes in central Wisconsin and chat about everything big bass. They compare fishing tales from their home waters and try to put some big Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass in the boat.

Such a blast fishing with Oliver!!!
Dude is a stud. I'm from so cal and have been following him for a while!!! Incredible how many 10+ he has
Also love your channel, best videographer in the business.
Shame Oliver isn't sporting when he fishes....100 lb steel wire line...what a joke.
@@forestcityfishing4749 haters going to hate. Dude won 100k in a big bass tournament and probably has more 10+ lbers on camera than anyone else on the planet. He uses the correct tackle for the scenario. I've seen him use 4lb line in finesse scenarios as well as 100lb steel leader for musky. To each his own
@@forestcityfishing4749 lighter terminal tackle can over extend the length of the fight, resulting in overstressed and exhausted fish, in turn a higher mortality rate. Sporting can also be ethical with quick catch-quick release
As much as I miss dos boat….. I’m happy to see Jay as part of the meat eater family. #gocanada 🇨🇦
Again, perfectly timed for my lunch break. Thank you! Feel free to give me a shout if you're ever in Saskatchewan. Might have a lead on some good walleye shore fishing 🤷♂️😂
The thing I love about Jay and Oliver is that they are SMART! These guys actually know about the ecosystems they fish in.
I'm from southern California as well. I miss the gold old days of catching giant largys. My biggest was a 16lb Florida strain large mouth.
Caught in La Mesa at Lake Murray on a custom 15in twister tail worm.
I live in Colorado now. So I chase pike and walleye with big custom jerk baits that I make.
Two of the best UA-cam anglers together, thanx for making this video guys I'm a big fan of both of you
Just became a fan of Oliver, seems so down to Earth and a great person to fish with.
Met him at a fishing expo and he was really cool to talk with
Good things happen when we get together! Looking forward to our next adventure, hopefully in Canada next time! We'll call it the California Angle...
Awesome ! Been laid off for a few weeks and my wife is mad about watch Jay Siemens videos all day every day lol😂
Big Just About Everything Dreams with Jay & Oliver! Bravo 👏
Awesome man! My home state. First fish I ever caught as kid with my older brother. We used to bike down to Lake Mallalieu in Hudson, WI back in the 90's, I was probaly 8 yrs old. Dip a pole with a crawler and yank out bass one after another under a big tree that overhung the lake. Feels like yesterday. One of the best memories of my life. That lake has been drained a couple times since and now is filled with lake carp on the upper end if anyone is into bow fishing.
I would love to see more with Jay and Oliver.
Its always a good feeling to get a guided fishing tour of a “new-to-you” fishery. Well done!
Unreal! Jay you are the best so happy to see the progression of your career.
Keep the videos coming! Oliver needs his own series too.
I agree!
This is one of the coolest youtube shows yet, by the meateater crew. Love it, and love that it's spin fishing! I'm a fly-fishing guy for sure, I guide, I absolutely love fly fishing, but I also love spin fishing, and it's great to see younger dudes with spin roads catching freshwater lake fish. Awesome content!
If either of you guys come back to Wisconsin I know a bunch of great lakes and rivers that hold some BIG large and smallmouth bass. Love seeing you guys fishing Wisconsin
Love this! Need more of these two!
This is great we need more meat eater bass fishing! Get Steve on the boat!
I lived on Lake Erie (northeast Ohio) in the late 90s. It was common to put 30 smallies in the canoe in a couple of hours. About a third were 5 plus pounds, some 6 and 7s.
My man out here fishing with the flint 13s 🔥
Excellent collab, fellas. Two of the best to do it.
Most guys are out there in sandals. Oliver is the only bass fisherman I've ever seen to go fishing while wearing $300-400 dollar shoes. I love it lol!
Gotta have the $400 shoes to walk on the $200,000 boat brotha.
Company credit card haha. I doubt it.
It looks like he’s wearing totally different shoes in the second half of the episode.
BIG TIME CANADIAN VIBES!! Love it✊🏼✊🏼
I love your talent with the camera! So happy you're doing this channel!
So lucky to say I've caught 4lb smallies up there taking a break from musky fishing. Love Northwoods WI
Excellent video sir. Thank you much for sharing.
Good stuff guys!
Canadian... Angle...? I LOVE my homewaters in WI, but... ? 🙂 Love the show, happy to see you guys highlighting WI!
Love wisco smallmouth!! Awesome episode loving the MeatEater series
Nothing fights like a smallie!
Ugh, I have been watching this channel during the lockdown (entering year three! in Canada!). I would love to get out of the city in any way. Great content, keep it up.
I get that , being from Kansas we don’t have pike and musky and they seem exotic to me anyway. We do have walleye though and in the fall winter farm raised rainbows . They get me out of the normal panfish and cats routine and I enjoy it.
love these canadian angle episodes!! Nice fish!
Man that looks awesome
Another awesome episode 👏🏾 🙌 👌🏿 👍🏿 😀
Oliver you need to come fish North Dakota smallies! We grow the right sized ones here too!
I love Boulder Junction area, may want to try the Lower Wolf River for Smallies
Nice job grinding it out
These are awesome
Meateater!! You kno how to pick ‘em !!!!! Solid content !!!
GREAT video! 🙌
“Because at the end of the day, it’s my f**king show” -Steve Rinella
Best part of podcast ep. 304!!
Great under water shots.
Enjoying the fishing series . Nice to see that Americans don't just have a bass . 😀
So…turns out I’m just a trophy fisherman. Hours upon hours upon hours with no bites. Just looking for that monster bass. Huh..who knew??!! I now feel a little bit better about myself.
Wish I wasn't from Milacs so I could appreciate smallmouth under 20 inches
These videos are very entertaining
If you are going to fish big smallies in Wisconsin you gotta fish Green Bay. #1 spot in the world
I'd love to see Oliver come to Wilson Lake in kansas and fish for smallies, black bass and striped bass, big white bass and hybrids
Now Jay should go to Cali!
Caught my biggest Wisconsin bass this year while musky fishing at 2am. Hit a double 10 bucktail lol.
I was hopeful this was after august on LOTW
Can't imagine anyone choosing to live in Comifornia!
Little later then usual. But..... I'm just as stoked as usual. Big fan of both Jay and Oliver. And like many will and have said. Let's do das boat Ontario edition. And a canadian edition. Hell, provincial edition would be epic. So many species. So many regional dishes and cuisines. As a chef by trade this would be a hit. From crab digging when the tides out to lobster to big big tuna east coast style. To west coast canada salmon. And pike muskie walleye bass perch and everything else in between. And an incredible amount of anglers and great ones at that from coast to coast.
you know its weird to think about i live 10 minutes by boat from canada but i havent seen a canadian in 2 years face to face
That dude made this feel like a UA-cam video and not a meat eater episode
Good times
7:30 “its built good”
He’s a fan of chris hansen
Jay Siemans in wisco make me very happy. Next time if you ever come back try to get with Eric Haataja. He is the "King" angler here for every species. You know him
Just here to see jay Siemens
I want to watch Canadian fishing, but Brandy Old Fashioned 'Sconni fishing 😉
Wish I could have fished with u. Not sure where in Wisconsin u were. I'm up north Eastern Wisconsin in Oneida county. Good video
Keep it up Jay! I’m enjoying the other hosts but I’m following you bud whether it’s meat eater or your channel . Not gonna lie, your camera work might be better !
Come to Lake st clair for muskie even though it's half in the states lol
Any advice for a fellow Canadian for fishing either lake Huron or lake Simcoe before the ice takes over?
Would love some tips on nearby creeks or something. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to fishing and got pretty bummed out, once the weather got cold, I stopped catching fish...
In Northern California you can fish our big lakes 24/7 unlike SoCal.
Fishing in the Jordan's?? thats risky lol
Always fishing in J's lol
What lake were you on? Must be northern Wisconsin.
Smarter everyday
Is that a big bass swimming under the boat at 11:38?
Thought Oliver was spot on, there is such an aversion to eating what you catch in the bass fishing community. Been banned from bass fishing Facebook groups for talking about it. Small and Large mouth fry up nice.
I noticed what looks like an additional weight on Jay's hair jig. Is that a common move for hair jigs? Started using them a couple seasons ago, and have never seen that before.
If you're talking about on the hook shank, most guys put a chunk of senko on the shank. It adds a little weight and also helps bulk the look of the hair in the water
Any particular reason for the spinning reels on bait cast rods?
? Where, I am halfway through and those are clearly spinning rods with open face spinning reels?
I get there more fun to catch than to hang on a wall but if you're fishing for food that's the only reason you should keep one
Is that wisconson canada ? Coulda stayed in canada and fished simcoe for some 8,s .
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Is this jays show in meat eaters
Ever heard of Bass lake California
Looking for the meat eater podcast talking about the gold Shaw farm. Doing a school project and Am trying to show what a biased person looks like. Even in this day and age of information. Anyway, I’d love to give you guys one more view and see if you do research on what you talk about. Thanks for the help.
Leaving Ontario for bass? Simcoe has 7-9lbers.
Wow. Those fishing regulations in California sound ridiculous. Does anybody know if there is any science behind those regs??
Travel to BC for salmon and trout
What lake did Oliver fish in CA? Most lakes we fish has access to everything...Maybe he's talking about SoCal strictly?
SoCal most of his life. Only the past decade has he ventured into Northern California waters.
@@BigBassDreams Ah, that sense. Now he's living the dream fishing all the lakes out there. Loving it!
Do they quit tasting good over 18 inches?
What is the make of that boat ??
Vexus VX21
@@bretterickson1378 Ok, Ya.... they don't sell those around here.... ya got eat a lot of bass to justify that rig.
“High Fishability Factor”’ 😂👍🏼
Show’s called MeatEater but there’s no keeping fish, eating fish, or cooking fish recipes! Bummer
Look for Cal and his trout episodes
Do any one knows about Stephen ranella 🤔🤔🤔
Am I the only one thinking that California just can't help but screw things up?...
As an amateur taxidermist, I like to see fish hanging on the wall.
Can’t fish at night? What are you talking about. You can night fish all you want at the California Delta and Clear lake or any lake permitted for it
So Cal lakes you cannot..
the hyper sensitivity to eating bass comes from people seeing people who know nothing of conservation and eat everything they catch no matter what!
A
Fishing aint great west of SK....
Wow meateater really fell off
Meh... not great
