Jay's & Daniel are right there has always been some tension between recreational angles and commercial fishermen, I never thought much about it and it makes sense that they dont want to target all the spawning fish, always cool when you can learn something while being entertained. Great job guys, stay safe.
I absolutely love that you guys have partnered with Jay and Stag for the ice fishing videos! Two great Canadian fishermen right there! Love the content! 🙌
Loved it! So much fun to watch this one! This crew needs to get together often! Great chemistry together, terrific fishing action, and nice editing! Great little film!!!
Growing up my step father is native and did commercial fishing on lake Nipissing I always enjoy every time I was brought out also where I learned to clean fish so well as that was one of the few things I could help with. I've caught some monsters in the winter while they set and I was always taught to release the large fish its the way to respect the lake.
That's what it's all about! What a great video! Really cool to learn about and see some commercial fishing up close... and the Northern Pike fishing, that was something!
My grandpa's, uncles and my dad were commercial fisherman from manitoba. I remember doing this as a kid and helping them out. This is a bit of nostalgia for sure.
I was a little reticent to watch this as it’s not normally my go to for my queue, but this was thoroughly entertaining and so cool to see all those big pikes. Excellent job gents.
Who knew that ice fishing was so cardio intensive, so many Northerns .... Have to say that ice fishing technology is amazingly effective and relies on a wooden shuttle and no electronics. Great show gents.
Great video!! Got to learn about a part of fishing that is kinda hush hush due to the public perception. Nice to see how much the commercial fisheries can care about sustainability. Fun to see you fish with a couple of charismatic dudes, lots of laughs and makes for a good day of fishing. ✌️
Good to see another ice fishing video Jay. The commercial fishing side of it was very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Our ice here in the Cariboo is just getting thick enough for us to go out, chasing brookies, burbot and rainbows. Tight lines and sharp hooks 😎👍
40 years ago a 50” pike while walleye fishing was pretty much a daily occurrence. We would usually hook one every trip. Times of change. We never called them big till they hit 50.
I was doing this when I was 15 and did it for about 4 years with my uncles and cousins. Summer and winter it was hard work and filleting fish. I thought it was harder in the summer it was a workout. On lake of the woods
Its nice to see but in southern Africa where I live people would kill just about everything in their nets, big, small light or heavy, one of my childhood fishing lakes have been almost cleared of all fish,It really is unfortunate.I have and still continue to pull out and burn nets.
I used to love the canadian angle! Jay up n disappeared! Guess he fancied himself a big hollywood filmmaker there for a spell. 😂 i thought he left the dregs of Hollywood for good
This is super cool but netters kill everything in the PNW rivers and get preferential treatment from the government on top of that. Gill nets are indiscriminate and decimate fisheries.
I don't get it. Netters are no friend of sport fishing or fisheries. They use gill nets to indiscriminately rape the waters until fisheries are wiped out, then they move on to pillage other areas. Pitiful show.

so many years I watched both Meateater and Jay separately, and it makes me happy that they have combined!

SEASON 5 HERE WE GO!

I'm 10 minutes in and already blown away. Wild episode!
Love that this series is still going on! Can’t wait for more
Stagg on the line is THE most underrated fishing content on youtube
They should cook that at 350....
Great show Jay! As a fairly serious angler it’s nice to see commercial fishing done the way it should be done.
That's what it's all about! What a great video! Really cool to learn about and see some commercial fishing up close... and the Northern Pike fishing, that was something!
Lake Winnipeg beauty. My home waters once again, thanks Jay
THAT was a truly great video with some great locals to the area showing their way of life.
Jay you gotta make a few more videos with those two guys. They were awesome.
Glad to see the Canadian Angle is back!
Oh my. There was so much joy. What a wonderful couple of dudes, Jay. Fun episode.
My grandpa's, uncles and my dad were commercial fisherman from manitoba. I remember doing this as a kid and helping them out. This is a bit of nostalgia for sure.
Hi Dustin!
RESPECT! Jay go back at end of January beginning of February and see the freezing weather & wind those men work in on a daily basis ✌️
Old dude here - Love to fish - anything, anywhere, anytime…you guys rock - gives me hope for the younger fishermen
I was a little reticent to watch this as it’s not normally my go to for my queue, but this was thoroughly entertaining and so cool to see all those big pikes. Excellent job gents.
Two legends, meat eater channel for the win
This was a great video really interesting thank you, you are the best Jay.
Seriously educational! Jay is the best!
What an epic time! I'm happy you all had fun. Glad I found this series. Great video, mahalo for sharing.
Fun vid, really like the selective harvest part, they know what they are doing.
Of all the best angles, my favorite has to be the Canadian one 😛 get ‘em Jay!
Who knew that ice fishing was so cardio intensive, so many Northerns .... Have to say that ice fishing technology is amazingly effective and relies on a wooden shuttle and no electronics. Great show gents.

Good to see everyone having fun pulling nets Awesome video. And the pike looks so delicious. Awesome also Thank you for sharing. 👋🏽👍🏽

Its so amzing to see people share such an experience!😀Keep up the great work!!!
Loved this. Certainly one of the best.
This is awesome to see a fellow from the same hometown on meateater 🎣🎣
Finally another Canadian Angle. Gotta Represent!!
The ice fishing vehicle is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen! I want one!😜
I recognized that voice right away! How could you not mention his UA-cam channel???? Stagg on the line!
we have to bombardiers fully souped up with power steering! nice to see other people using them we got them from flinflon
Cool video guys! Really enjoyed this one!
What a Pike-Fest‼️ Nice work.
that's some overdue content! great stuff, well done👍👍
Awesome episode, really enjoyed that!
40 years ago a 50” pike while walleye fishing was pretty much a daily occurrence. We would usually hook one every trip.
Times of change.
We never called them big till they hit 50.
Had low expectations after seeing the title but this one was awesome!
It looked like a great time
What a great episode
Im so excited for ice fishing. I got one place thick enough to fish but its been above freezing during the day which makes me nervous on thin ice.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Man I have been waiting on some Canadian angle!!!!!!
That’s what ice fishing can be like. For every 20 trips, you get one trip that keeps you coming back !
Enjoyed that one fellas!!!
Great episode. Just started fishing in Canada this year myself but nothing like this.
that daniel seems like a fun guy to fish with. legend has it he a pretty decent beer league hockey player
As someone who played the walleye chop with him in Minneapolis, solid hockey player, solid dude!
I was doing this when I was 15 and did it for about 4 years with my uncles and cousins. Summer and winter it was hard work and filleting fish. I thought it was harder in the summer it was a workout. On lake of the woods
great vid!!!!!!!!!!! keep them coming!
Hell of an episode!
What an awesome video
Jay has the best angling videos by far. Hit hits all of the categories
Aww yeah baby Canada represent
hell yeah eh
Love some ice fishing!
Great episode keep it up
Wow, Wow, Wow nice pike and that was a slow day? Holy smoke we all would like to have a "slow day" like that.
That was wild!
i thought most would be dead in the net too. So this was an eye opener for me and i likely owe some folks a "Sorry".
Cheers Jay and crew.
apologies accepted
The limit on pike where I live at is one over forty inches. I rarely catch a small one.
Jay is the man!!!
Stag is one very funny guy!
6:55 to 7:05 hell ya Jay. Pick a pace and stick with it!
That bombadier is a sweet rig! What I’d give to have one of them or a snow bear lol
26 minute video released 16 minutes ago and people leaving comments about the video. I am no math expert, 🤔....Rock on MeatEaters 🤘😎
I've seen those snow bugs out by simcoe before
Nice !
Good stuff
Nice video
The proper term would be "cabin boy" for Jay.
Okayyyy, let's go.
So what is the time frame from where you pulled up that first fish up at 9:50 from the time you set that same net
EPIC!!!
Nice
Can y'all add Daniel to the regular?
Siiiick
Its nice to see but in southern Africa where I live people would kill just about everything in their nets, big, small light or heavy, one of my childhood fishing lakes have been almost cleared of all fish,It really is unfortunate.I have and still continue to pull out and burn nets.
Canadian Angle!
Not a fan of gill nets or commercial fishing period. I would vote against 8 days a week.
I love the sport of fishing!
The guy you are commercial fishing with......... 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫 'stag on the line' channel?
Petri 😊
Daniel Stagg should be on council.
Plenty of lakes here in Albert's with no fish left because of nettin
I used to love the canadian angle! Jay up n disappeared! Guess he fancied himself a big hollywood filmmaker there for a spell. 😂 i thought he left the dregs of Hollywood for good
❤🐟🤟👍👌
No sunglasses? bro thats tough @ I'd Go blind
lmao bro... we did. suffered for 4 days after
🇧🇷👍
This is super cool but netters kill everything in the PNW rivers and get preferential treatment from the government on top of that. Gill nets are indiscriminate and decimate fisheries.
Commerical fishermen in Alaska talk good about you guys. This video does not do Canadian commercial fishing any justice. Good fun though.
I don't get it. Netters are no friend of sport fishing or fisheries. They use gill nets to indiscriminately rape the waters until fisheries are wiped out, then they move on to pillage other areas. Pitiful show.
Shame on these people for market fishing walleye, but shame on you more. Would you be so excited covering them market hunting Moose in Suskatchawan?
you're comparing apples to oranges. how is that even remotely similar?
Shame to the ignorance of your comments.
Thought that was a chick
The big strong guy with facial hair?
faaaaaking cooool/
